Phil built my rifle from parts I ordered and it operates flawlessly. He made recommendations for parts to get for the build and I ordered them without question. Over the years he has added mods and has made adjustments that continue to improve functionality, appearance, and accuracy. His skill as a gunsmith is such that I would not trust my stuff to anyone else. The quality of his builds and craftsmanship are worth every cent and the turnaround is reasonable. He is also an invaluable wealth of knowledge when it comes to anything regarding firearms and firearms repair. He is my go-to guy whenever I have a question or need a recommendation. If you ever need a purchase transferred I believe they are also FFL certified and can assist with purchase transfers. Full-service at its best. Additionally, he will Cerakote anything you need that can be Cerakoted. I needed custom paint on some Hella Sharptone horns to add to my Triumph Bonneville and LAC did excellent work. I felt that regular paint would be too delicate, so Phil and Co did a beautiful job with the color and application to get the horns to integrate with the colors on the moto. My girl feels a lot better knowing I trashed the puny stock horn in favor of these 90 dB dual blasts on the LA streets, and I feel a lot better knowing they integrate well with the color scheme and don't make my bike look like an amateur rat build. They are definitely a busy shop, but the reasons are clear: these guys live for their work and their customers know it, which is why I will keep coming back!

I've done a few classes with Dave now. And although I am not, and probably never will be, a "gun…read moreperson," I can say I do now feel more comfortable around them. I used to hate it when my husband would get his gun out to practice with his fake bullets or clean it or something, but now I'll do a couple of practices with him. The last class we had, the shooting workshop, was probably the best. It was a private range, and I shot an orange, which was so cool. I highly recommend this workshop. So now, while I wouldn't say I'd be "excited" about a day at the range, I'll at least go in somewhat knowing what I'm doing and have some fun, which is a huge difference from a few months ago, when I wouldn't even go at all. As an instructor and human, Dave is patient, kind, and funny. This kind of class can be intense- a firearms instructor needs to walk a fine line between being supportive and encouraging, but also making sure people know what they're doing so they don't hurt themselves. Dave is able to balance that well. He knows when to explain, when to show, and when to let the student try it out. He also seems to know when he can encourage a student a bit more to reach the next level of skill and when to back off. He definitely knows guns, but he knows people, too! Good combination in a firearms instructor.

I came in feeling quite nervous and unsure of myself, but Dave immediately made me feel comfortable. He was incredibly patient, encouraging, observant, and positive throughout the entire session. He has a real gift for teaching and for understanding what a student is actually doing rather than simply giving generic instructions. Very quickly, he identified that I was anticipating the shot when pulling the trigger. He gave me a simple technique to break that habit. The difference was almost immediate. Within minutes, I went from shots scattered around the target to consistently hitting the bull's-eye. I was amazed! What I appreciated most was how encouraging Dave was. He made the entire experience fun, relaxed, and motivating, while still being very focused on helping me improve. He also has a wonderful ability to recognize when a student is doing something right and build confidence from there. Dave is knowledgeable, insightful, kind, and genuinely passionate about teaching. I left the session feeling much more confident and, most importantly, excited to keep learning. I highly recommend Dave to anyone looking for individualized instruction. He is a fantastic teacher, and I feel very fortunate to have found him!

The practical live shooting portion is pretty boring if you're a reasonable avid shooter. All the other portions were interesting and informative which surprised me. Simply going to the range and practicing is not enough--proper training like this is essential, and honestly, I believe it should be mandatory for anyone who owns a firearm. OJ was extremely thorough, clear, and detail-oriented in his instruction. He made sure everyone understood not just how to handle a firearm, but how to do so safely and responsibly. I highly recommend this class to anyone serious about firearm ownership.

I really can't say enough good things about Tactical Firearms Institute…read more For starters, I wasn't exactly brought up in a gun culture, but I picked up my skills along the way through family, friends, and videos. And I was also going to the range enough to get frustrated at how I was stuck at my skill level and knew I needed training. With that, it's difficult to explain how much better, more confident, and comfortable I am with a firearm since I started training with Edmond (OJ). His expertise in the field is apparent immediately, and he has a resume that is hard to beat. But that's half of it. He's a great teacher who has the master-level talent of identifying your skill level, correcting mistakes, and patiently pushing you to a higher level than you thought was possible in yourself. And you can double everything I said about CCW training. If you have a CCW license, but you're uneasy about the concept of carrying it in public, I cannot express how important good training will be to you and how much OJ has helped me.

We met up with him at Angeles shooting range and he gave my family a very generous 2 hour private lesson. All levels of gun experience were represented so he went through basics, got us all speaking the same language regarding gun safety and then taught us to shoot our guns his way. Wow! It was like magic. In one lesson we were hitting the center consistently. It was really impressive the way he broke it down to the simplest mechanics and was able to get such great results with each of us regardless of our experience level. Aside from being a consummate professional regarding guns and training he also was a helluva nice guy. Plus he had a perfect voice for firearms instruction. I know it's weird but on a gun range it's loud and people are wearing earplugs. A clear authoritative voice that cuts through the clamor to keep me focused is an asset I appreciated. I will definitely be taking some of his group classes in the future and recommend On The Level Firearms Instruction enthusiastically to you :)

He does his instruction out of Angeles Shooting Range which is amazing. Larry taught me how to use a new hunting rifle and scope that I have never used that I impulsed bought in the excitement of my first hunting trip. Although I have experience in sidearms and shotguns I have never fired or operated a nice hunting rifle and scope. As I was on a timeline I asked Larry if I could get some private instruction. He offers it and boy was I glad. He not only taught me how to use my hunting rifle but also how to properly zero in my scope and also checked its mounting. the rifle I bought was a .308 caliber so he brought his .22LR rifle so he could properly instruct me on how to operate my new firearm. I will never forget what he said, "If I learn to shoot properly and with the basics using the .22LR I can apply this to the larger caliber rifles and it will work!" Oh Boy was he right. He took the time and patience to teach me how to breathe, properly pull the trigger, check meld EVERYTHING! Even some things like websites regarding ammunition velocity etc that were way over my head for a beginner. Needless to say I was very happy with his instruction and I went on my hunting trip. I employed everything Larry taught me and I was able to hunt my first Deer. I will never forget the experience as it was perfect and it was made perfect because of Larry's instruction. I took one shot and it was a perfect kill shot. The shot was so good the Hunting guide was so impressed that a city slicker did so well at such a distance. I thought he was kidding but when other more experienced hunters came back and they had missed their shots with their fancy guns I knew my guide was not kidding! And I also knew that what Larry had taught me in two hours of private instruction will stay with me for the rest of my life. If fact much of what he taught me I pass on to my friends which Larry told me is what makes this instruction invaluable. I even went out and purchased my own Remington .22LR takedown to practice as much as I can the things he taught me I cannot wait to take his other classes and have more private instruction from him. My instruction and hunting trip was back in June and I am just writing this now because I find it very important to let him know and everyone that wants to know how good this guy and his firm is. now that I have written it I can sleep better at night!! THANK YOU LARRY!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!! Larry is the Man and On the Level Firearms Training is LEGIT!!!
