I did some research myself and have gone to ranges so I had an idea of what I wanted and what I needed to do. When I arrived, the store is in a small lot and looks a bit hidden and old. Only one room I think had AC but that was where I took my test and spent my whole time in. It's not very assuming or a luxurious place, but it has a charm and very honest feel to it. The staff there were friendly, patient, and helpful (The 2 ladies that helped me were, Tami and I didn't get the name of the other lady, but she felt like the owner). They were both very knowledgeable, honest, and transparent with their answers and recommendations, and I didn't feel pressured for anything. I was given a few firearms to try that I talked to them about and a few that they recommended. They also said anything that they did not have in store, they could order for me and did their best to accommodate or find something similar for me to feel out. They had a wide assortment of firearms, at least in my eyes, and what they kept stocked made sense. I didn't look through the whole store and everything they had, but I will tomorrow. From what I browsed and saw while I walked in and around, they have many standard picks and accessories that make sense to get in person, and a few interesting pieces. Larger items or more common items, like safes, they were very transparent and said they did not stock and that it's better to find one online, which made sense business wise. I like that they understood what is feasible for them to stock and what not to; both for their interest of keeping their inventory moving, but also to not peddle something that the customer wouldn't want or be satisfied with. I was shown everything in great detail and kindly. I made my purchase and was given instruction on what to do, what to expect, and a time frame for when I can pick things up. For my FSC, I got clear instruction, some helpful preface, and then the paperwork was straightforward and simple. I was guided for it to be as smooth as possible. I got my card and everything done and the prices were as expected and fair. I will update my review if anything changes, but considering the positive experience and friendliness of the staff, I don't think I will have anything to update. I don't know enough about prices for different models and ammo to split hairs on that, and this is a local small business, so it doesn't make sense coming here with the expectation of below market prices. The price range on the models I looked at seemed to be around the ballpark range of what I saw online for MSRP. I'm sure you could look around and get quotes to find things cheaper, but considering this is a local business and near me, I'm not coming here to try to haggle for the lowest price. I care more for the experience and personal interaction. With that said though, I also don't like small businesses that don't keep prices competitive with the rest of the market. I think this business does a fair job with it. As I mentioned before, the items I looked at, I did some research on, and the prices were in the ballpark of what I saw online which is a great indication. Laughable that a person can be doing something this long and still not know what the eff they are talking about. An upper receiver is not a firearm under federal law (27 CFR § 478.12), is not serialized, and is not regulated on its own. Barrel length by itself does not magically create an SBR. An SBR determination requires a rifle with a shoulder stock and a barrel under 16 inches (26 U.S.C. § 5845(a), (c)). That determination depends entirely on the serialized lower receiver--which in my case is a legally owned and DOJ-registered semi-automatic pistol, not a rifle, and is configured to be California compliant under California Penal Code § 30515. This is basic, entry-level firearms law. Being incorrect is one thing. Being aggressively, confidently incorrect--and then doubling down when you clearly have no idea what you're talking about--is something else entirely. Instead of listening or checking the law, the owner insisted I was committing a serious federal felony and spoke to me in a hostile, unprofessional manner and cursed at me, all while in front of other patrons. Embarrassing for him to say the least. This is peak FUDD behavior: outdated knowledge, refusal to learn, and ego over facts. Shops like this don't just inconvenience customers--they actively spread misinformation that can get people in real trouble, especially in California. If you've been "in the business for 42 years" and still don't understand the difference between an upper receiver, an SBR, and a compliant AR pistol, that's not experience--that's willful ignorance. Do yourself a favor and avoid gun stores that let pride replace competence.

First Time and Excellent Experience…read more This was our first time taking a firearm course, and we came as a group of four wanting to learn the basics and, most importantly, how to handle firearms safely and responsibly. From the moment we arrived, we felt that safety was the top priority. The setting was amazing, the location was great, and the entire experience was extremely well organized. Doug and Paula were fantastic instructors. They paid incredible attention to detail and were very patient throughout the entire course. They explained everything clearly, including proper handling, safety procedures, and how to keep everyone around us safe. They took the time to walk us through every step, answered all of our questions, and never made us feel rushed or uncomfortable asking for clarification. By the time we left, we felt much more knowledgeable and confident about the fundamentals of safe firearm handling. We couldn't have asked for a better experience for our first course. Doug and Paula were professional, knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely focused on making sure everyone was safe. I came across ADE because I was looking for a class for women and stumbled upon Girls Gun Club! I…read morecalled and left a message. I later spoke with Paula who was friendly and helpful, she told me she was gathering enough people for a small beginners class for women, I asked if I could bring some friends and she said yes. We signed up and she provided all the information via email. I nor my friends had ever shot guns before so we were a little nervous. We got to the range and met Sayaka, who was badass! She assisted us to get geared up and shared about her expertise. There was about 6 people in our class, so it made it very intimate and they were able to assist us individually if needed! Paula and Sayaka went over various topics of safety. Already it made me feel at ease. Paula is so knowledgeable and quite hilarious she had be cracking up the entire class. Paula and Sayaka made a great team and they explained everything thoroughly. Such cool ladies! I was so inspired by them! We went over the movement of pulling the gun out from the holster over and over and over. But we didn't use the gun just learned the movements so we can get comfortable. Then we moved on to actually holding the gun. It was really helpful, because once we began shooting the adrenaline spiked! I got a lil scared and so did my friend but Paula and Sayaka were extremely patient and helpful. They showed us how to shot, where to shot, and how to reload. They gave me so much confidence that I could be badass like them! I will definitely be back and taking the next course. The three hours flew by! It was a lot of fun! We didn't know we were gonna get to shot in the shoothouse so that was a surprise and such a great time! Paula got some cool pics of us. 10/10 experience and I def recommend to women who have never shot before. It's definitely a necessity to protect ourselves and our loved ones!

If you've been to enough of these classes over the years like I have, you know they can sometimes turn into a dry lecture or a massive instructor ego trip. Or both. Not here. The guys running the show--Ron, Juan, and the rest of the crew--are active and retired law enforcement, veterans, and first responders. They aren't just reading slides out of a manual; they're sharing actual, street-level experience. There's no fluff and absolutely zero attitude, just straight-shooting, practical advice from people who have actually been there. Every single instructor, and there are a lot of them, are approachable, engaging, and legitimately want to help you become a safer and more knowledgeable CCW card holder. The day starts with a safety brief and then some shooting drills, followed by the live-fire qualification, all of it up at Burro Canyon (give yourself extra time to get there, this place is in the middle of the boondocks). Safety was locked down tight, but the environment was relaxed enough that everyone could focus and get some solid training in. The instructors readily admit that the actual shooting qualification score is a no-brainer, so they weave in more things like drawing from the holster and dropping magazines. The instructors are constantly on the move, adjusting your grip, giving you tips to be a safer and more accurate shooter. Very, very cool. Following the shooting qualifications and a lunch break, they handled the legal updates and use-of-force stuff clearly and kept the class moving. One of the best parts is that they actually weave trauma medical training ('Stop the Bleed') right into the course. Knowing how to save a life is just as important as knowing how to handle a firearm, and most other CCW classes completely skip that side of the coin. I will confess that as a new hunter, I carry a tourniquet, but I didn't consider some of the nuances the instructors brought up, like rapid access from the pack, putting it on one-handed, high and tight, etc. And we actually practiced using it! If you need your initial permit or you're just looking for a renewal class that won't waste your time, don't look anywhere else. Professional, down-to-earth, and genuinely good people. Five stars all day long.
