We had inherited an apartment in a 100 year old building that needed some updating including a kitchen renovation. We had already decided that we wanted to use IKEA cabinetry for our new kitchen, however, structural issues like unmovable masonry bump-outs and the corners that were neither square nor plumb made us realize that the installation would be beyond our DIY skills. It was also a problem trying to coordinate everything with IKEA long distance - enter Assembly Squad. We sent a message to Assembly Squad via their website and received a quick response from Viktor to set up a conference call. Viktor and Tim listened carefully to us and were very helpful in explaining the design and installation process. They recommended that we use Inspired Kitchen Design (IKD) to refine our IKEA planner design and produce an accurate shopping list. They were able to check the apartment for measurements and structural issues that could cause problems with the design. During our discussions they were also able to recommend a firm that could review and update the lighting and electrical service (All Power Electric). Once the design plans were finalized (just in time for an IKEA kitchen sale) we met with Tim at IKEA (Schaumburg) and purchased the cabinetry. Tim loaded the boxes in his truck and delivered them to our condo the next morning. Their crew, Victor, a master carpenter, and his assistant Angel, spent the next three days installing cabinets and under mount lighting. Victor's attention to detail was excellent and he was able to make the adjustments for the variances in our walls. The result was a beautiful kitchen. As with any project, there were a couple of minor issues that surfaced after the installation. Assembly Squad was quick to diagnose and repair the problems. In the end, the work was done on time and on budget. There were no surprises and the result was a great new kitchen. We highly recommend them to others. read more

The Assembly Squad is the best! I contacted them to assemble an IKEA Hemnes chest of drawers dresser after I spent almost 11 hours putting together the matching dresser even with my son's help. I have done IKEA cabinets in my kitchen and laundry room before but for some reason the furniture is more complicated and there are a LOT more pieces. Within 10 minutes of contacting them by e mail I had a response from Viktor with a price quote. Then another 10 minutes and an appointment was scheduled. Amazing! The service person Martin even called me ahead of the appt. to tell me he might be a few minutes late because it was pouring rain and there was bad traffic. Turns out he was right on time and went to work immediately. So courteous and friendly. He had that furniture put together and completed in 1 hour and 20 minutes! Viktor followed up with a phone call to make sure everything went well and I told him it had gone perfectly. I will totally hire them again to assemble any IKEA or other brand furniture or cabinets. They are the pros and can do this work so quickly and completely. Well worth the money and I saved myself a lot of aggravation over doing it myself. Five stars! read more

Working with Viktor at Assembly Squad was such a pleasure! He was always very responsive to emails and also professional when speaking to him on the phone. I hired the Assembly Squad to setup IKEA furniture for an office building in the city. The contractors who came to assemble the furniture noticed that not everything had been delivered from IKEA and notified us immediately. Since we were unable to receive the rest of our furniture at that time on that day, Viktor arranged for us to setup another date in the FAR future (because of IKEA) and had contractors come out and finish the project as soon as IKEA sent the missing pieces. This was a huge relief! The entire experience with Assembly Squad was easy and wonderful! I also appreciated that they had worked with many people who had ordered IKEA furniture so they knew to check to make sure everything had been delivered and were more than willing to fix a bad situation! After reading very poor reviews for Traemand who is general contractor for IKEA I've started shopping around and came across Assembly Squad. I left them a message and they called back right away. The long story short. They priced my kitchen project less than Traemand did. They made a few corrections on the project itself. The kitchen was installed quickly withing a few days without a hitch. It also turned out that IKEA's bathroom vanities can not fit because of plumbing we had in bedrooms. I asked Tim if they can help and he did an amazing job modifying vanities with incredible attention to details. Beyond any words Tim is a true jam in this company. Thanks Tim one more time! Overall we are very happy with final results. I would also like to mention Viktor, who always quickly responds and assembling guys Angel and Paco. My experience with Assembly Squad was as good as it gets. I just moved to Evanston from Toronto, Canada, to go to school at Northwestern, and I was very worried about my move. I was moving into a new empty apartment and had ordered all my Ikea furniture online (without seeing it in person first!) Tim arrived right on time, about 15 minutes after my Ikea delivery was complete, and he got straight to work assembly my entire apartment. He didn't even take a break! 5 hours later, my apartment was fully assembled and looking fantastic. He was friendly and trustworthy - I didn't even hesitate to leave him in my apartment and go out while he worked. He even helped me decide where to place everything! Angel and Paco did a great job assembling the very challenging IKEA items that I received. The background is that I went thru IKEA to buy four items and had the IKEA associates enter everything into a single order at their workstations in each IKEA department after I pointed out what I wanted -- they made all decisions on the item numbers. The office and bedroom associates completely screwed up the order with non matching items, e.g., wrong bookcase frame for 10 bookcase parts, etc. Angel was able to figure what could be assembled with the parts that I got. He communicated well during the process because we had to decide what to assemble and what I would take back to IKEA. I know this took some extra time to match the parts and figure out which ones could not be used, and was not charged. They assembled the furniture well and I will use the team to finish the IKEA work after I get the matching parts. read more

I highly recommend Assembly Squad for large, complicated custom assembly projects. Assembly Squad recently finished a large job for me, assembling Ikea furniture in a custom configuration created by my designer. Tim and Viktor worked with me ahead of time to understand the scope and details of the design. They were professional and courteous throughout the project. Tim took the time to do the job right. One piece is 24 feet of long, low cabinets, on a floor that slopes slightly upwards towards the wall and two concrete columns. Tim carefully leveled it so that it looks good and the doors hang properly. He adjusted his approach when it turned out I had ordered the wrong size doors for part of the work. He even exchanged a few doors for me at Ikea to get the proper ones. The results are beautiful and I will be calling Assembly Squad when I update the kitchen some day in the future. read more

Assembly Squad was a pleasure to work with. Their pricing is fair and worth every bit. The crew is incredibly detailed, timely and efficient. They completed an entire Ikea Kitchen for me including the appliances and countertop. They worked in a tight space with over 225 boxes. Because of their meticulous work and work ethic we asked them to put together a bunk bed, master bath vanity and a media center. They took the stress out of our moving process. After Ikea messed up the assembly portion of my order, only delivering it late, then spending two days and so many hours on the phone with them, they couldn't get an accurate reschedule date before I moved in to assembly my purchase. Assembly squad team were very efficient and fast . I had 100 boxes of Ikea kitchen cabinets to be assembled and installed in a very tight configuration..with some unique features that required some finished carpentry. The lead installer was familiar with the Ikea assembly process..so they went right to work..and finished the job in 4 days..(fast!) We called them back to install and purchase a new electrical box,and install kitchen sink plumbing, and two bathroom vanities (plumbing.). Whatever you need done these guys can do it. Great, quick, easy service. We used Assembly Squad last weekend for assistance with putting together an Ikea dresser. We are both professionals and do not have ample time to clean, make space, and assemble new furniture. We used ikea with semihandmade fronts and it came out beautiful, mostly because of the Work assembly squad did. Victor Juarez has a high attention to detail and the whole team was very responsive.
