The design process allowed us to put all of our stylistic preferences while ensuring an overall cohesive look. The project management was seamless, with perfect communication between the Metro team, the contractors they found and us. Each week we got an update on the project status with photos. The team was flexible meeting our needs, such as helping us ensure our cabinets could get donated to The Salvation Army. The only caveat I'd give is that while the total cost matched the projected budget, that number was quite high both in absolute terms and in relation to the initial budget we had targeted. That's not a surprise for a kitchen renovation, but just note that there's huge costs not only costs for materials and labor but also appliances and a rental if you choose to move out. We contacted Design Concepts to come to the rescue. Within a couple hours, we had a callback from Dave. We scheduled a site visit and were impressed enough to move forward with a design. Dave came out a couple days later with a beautiful color drawing that detailed all of our possible options, presented an itemized quote of all the work that would be involved, and gave us a list of 15 references we could call on for peace of mind. We presented this to our town home association board and they were so impressed that they decided we should do the courtyard as well. We signed the paperwork and a few days later Dave and his crew were cleaning up all the weeds, removing overgrown trees and bushes, and trimming trees. Then they installed a beautiful stone walkway, fertilizers, mulch, a wonderful assortment of plants and bushes in the front and flowers in the courtyard. They cleaned up everything and provided us with watering instructions and plans to add to our design for next year. Its difficult to please all members of a town home or condo association but Dave and Design Concepts did the job. We plan on using them for many years for all of our landscaping needs. We also found out they do more than just landscaping and have already begun plans to have them work on the interior of our house. Trying to do a large project during Covid is a pain for both parties. Something that usually takes…read more3 days to get in might take 3 months. This is not anyone's fault but I think both parties need to accept the fact that the project will be unpredictable. The best option is that as soon as something is in, I got a text and scheduled a visit within a few days. I don't think anyone can do better during these uncertain times. Danny was always extremely communicative and became a regular contact of mine during the time. All of his employees or vendors were very friendly as well. We had a wine cellar put in and it is 500 bottles in a small space that actually does not appear small at all. I am quite surprised with how well they designed the space. They also closed off two 'work rooms' to make the entire ambiance better. The tile and ceiling really make everything look upscale. They had to do electricity and everything for this new room so it was not an easy task. During the project I actually requested two additional tasks, which they were happy to do. They replaced cabinets for us that had nothing to do with the wine cellar (and the attention to detail was so good that when Danny couldn't find a perfect match, he actually reached out to the original cabinet vendor) and repainted a wall that we needed. I felt the price was absolutely fair and, if you're looking for a very basic cellar, you will get what you pay for. We wanted to make a lot out of the space and hopefully the pictures do it justice. The Kitchen Studio popped up in my google search as being a local dealer of the specific higher end material I wanted. Upon arrival, an employee told me "they don't do just countertops". Okay. That isn't clear on their website. Then she went on to tell me she can't think of anywhere in the area to refer me that "just does counters". First, of all, there are at least 10 countertop fabricators within a 10 mile radius of Glen Ellyn. Someone in the industry should know this. Second, I'm sure the Kitchen Studio has an in house fabricator or they subcontract it out to someone local (most likely) and thus, why on earth would you not give this person my business??? I have a fairly large kitchen and master vanity. My quotes from the other local fabricators, who do, in fact, exist, are coming in at $120/sq foot and up. I'm giving 2 stars instead of one because all their kitchens on houzz are truly lovely and I'm sure if you hire them they would design a beautiful kitchen.

However when cost estimates were developed for contract signing for the project implementation phase, her personal fees were 3 times of what they should have been per our retainer agreement. When I pointed out the retainer terms, instead of correcting, they sent me a new retainer document and told me their process has changed. The change is permanent and sometimes there is a little fallout like this. These were Susan's words in her email to me. I took them to court ( case#2019SR000483 in Dupage county) to get my money back which I did. Susan herself is talented and personable but her business partner and company co-owner's dealings are disappointing and ignorant of basic business ethics. Susan kept saying he handles all money and pricing aspects. I had to walk away! Update 1/10/2020: I stand by my comments and the fact that you completely disavowed the terms of retainer and when I pointed out the pricing terms that we agreed to In the retainer, you emailed me a new retainer document with all pricing terms removed from it. I would have never signed anything or paid you $7k based on that new retainer devoid of any specifics. This was an act of complete lack of integrity. If you are serious about building reputation, practicing integrity will help. Good luck

They took my vision of what I had pinned in 100s of Pinterest Ideas and made it a reality. I couldn't have done this kitchen remodel without Ray's help. He really was able to help coach me through things I would and wouldn't wish I had.. he went as far as making sure I had an easily accessible step stool built in so I could reach the tallest shelves... he redesigned the garbage can so it had greater capacity than I initially indicated and boy do I appreciate that now... he suggested added lighting that really is a dream.. he suggested drawers over cabinets in an area for the pots that I LOVE... outlet placement, color ideas, etc...
