After reviewing the scope of the project, it was estimated that it would take a week and a half to complete. Not only did it take over a month to eventually complete, the days that the team would work were unpredictable. On several occasions, as the team would leave for the day, they would tell us they will be back tomorrow, and then not show up. Or, they wouldn't be able to tell us when they would come next, and would surprise us a few days later. They ended up needing to complete this project after I had delivered my baby (original timeline would've been completed weeks prior to my due date). Additionally, we noticed there were a few design decisions that were made without consulting us, like the drywall of the shower/re-installation of the water gauge (it's now not flush with the wall and very loose) and the selection of tile at the base of the shower that doesn't match the floor. He had offered to come fix the water gauge, but after coming to look at the issue, he has not gotten back to us in 5 weeks. I had high hopes for this project, and while it still looks nice, the lack of communication made it really difficult to want to recommend Peter or use his team again for future projects.

Mike's crew is the best in the business: friendly, hard-working, trustworthy, and true craftsmen. As for Mike himself, he's detail-oriented and hungry to grow his business based on actually being good and delivering a good product. A great bonus for me was Mike's usage of modern web-based project tracking and collaboration tools; he always had all the answers and there was never a miscommunication. My wife and I had a non-trivial renovation planned: removing a wall, relocating the entire kitchen, staircase carpentry replacement, hardwood floor refinish on the first floor, and replacing carpet with hardwood on the second floor. Almost everybody you talk to has some kind of contractor horror story that ends in a protracted lawsuit or the contractor skipping town with the down payment, or worse! My research led me to Ambrose Builders, and I'm glad it did; the process couldn't have gone smoother for such a large and varied project. Special shout-outs to the general carpenter (also named Mike) for doing tons of big projects plus all the little finishes that really tie everything together, and to the flooring guys, they went ham and finished their part in less than 2 weeks. Electricity, plumbing, and HVAC was done accurately and passed (notoriously fickle) building codes easily. Mike puts his name on the sign because he rightly stakes his professional reputation on his work. You won't find a better contractor, so you might as well stop looking now.
