I do NOT recommend Ron and his company R-Deco…read more OVERPRICED Ron provides quotes that are extremely overpriced, at about 2x the price of any other company. A recent example was for a siding replacement project where he quoted almost 2x the nearest 3 companies who were all licensed, insured, and bonded (more on that later) and over 2x the lowest priced company who was not. And this was on a project in an HOA that he'd been working on for over a decade, so his bid should have come in the lowest of all because he'd already done the work for numerous other homes/units. UNCOMMUNICATED SCOPE CHANGES For the two projects I received a quote from Ron, both had their scope so drastically modified from what was requested by me that the projects and their prices were incomparable to what was actually needed. On the first project I asked for one door and 1/4 of a window to be recaulked, and he came back with an extremely expensive quote that was actually for caulking basically the entire exterior of my home/unit. On the second project I asked for all the siding to my rooftop penthouse to be replaced and he came back with a quote for just 4 of 12 panels to be replaced, without ever mentioning the scope change, perhaps so he could have me blindly sign the contract thinking I was getting what I wanted at a reasonable price when I would really only get 1/3 of what I asked for. EXCESSIVE DEPOSIT Ron charges a 60% deposit at contract signing and 50% of the remainder a week before the project begins, essentially requiring he is paid 80% of the already 2x overpriced job 1 week before any work even begins. This leaves absolutely no negotiating power to the buyer as Ron has already made all his profit and can just walk away or do a terrible job as he pleases. This kind of deposit is also completely out of line with industry standard, where companies require deposits of 50% or less, not 80%. RELUCTANT TO PROVIDE CREDENTIALS Ron won't provide you with either his license (which he doesn't seem to actually have, later on that), his insurance, or his bond information upfront like any other legitimate contractor. He requires that you sign his contract before he will provide you any of this. That's like someone claiming they're an airplane pilot but requiring you to commit to flying with them and only offering to show you their "credentials" when you're already on the plane and the doors are locked. This is unacceptable and unprofessional. LICENSING NOT FOUND Perhaps the reason Ron doesn't provide his credentials like licensing is that he in fact is NOT licensed, at least certainly not as a roofing contractor per the IDFPR website, though he advertises these services. He also cannot be found in the Chicago contractor database, even though he wanted to perform such General Contractor and/or Electrical license requiring tasks like swapping out an electrical exterior GFCI outlet during my siding project. Apparently he has been working in my HOA for over a decade, with the only reason that I've found so far being that he's the only one that's offered as an option for work by the HOA and Owner's just go with him to avoid the hassle of finding someone else. Of the 5 Owners that I've talked to though, all have negative experiences with him, including for overpricing and bad/not complete work. I will be recommending my HOA never work with Ron and his company R-Deco again and I would recommend you avoid him and his company as well.

They never communicated when they were coming. Some days wouldn't show up at all. 3. Deck was done poorly (as pictured). We asked for them to come back and fix the many areas that need to be fixed and have been giving us the run around for a month. 4. There were nails and pieces of wood left over. We have small children. We spent literally thousands on our deck and to have been done so poorly, we are really disappointed and hope that another family doesn't have to go through the same troubles.

He made sure to install according to the manufacturer's directions, in order to preserve the 10 year warranty. -We had a budget. He gave us many options in order to stay within that budget. We were very happy when he gave us a list of items that was needed for the project from Home Depot. Suggestions like this helped in keeping costs down. He was responsive during the quoting process, and all through the project once we moved forward with him. We could not be happier with the work he did, and the quality we received, especially considering his price was VERY competitive. Since the original work on the deck, we have had John fully remodel our kitchen (including combining 2 separate rooms into a larger kitchen area), a full bathroom remodel down to the studs, and a new laundry room upstairs in our master bedroom. All were done at very fair pricing, quickly, and with the quality we wanted. John was particularly good about making sure if there was something that needed to be decided on, he laid out all the pros and cons for my wife and I, and let us make an educated decision on how we wanted to move forward, even when the alternative may have been more difficult and time consuming for him and his team. During the process of our remodeling, we have used John's recommendations for an electrician, a plumber, a hard wood installation/sanding/staining company, a carpet installer, and a quartz countertop installer. All came in significantly less expensive than the quotes I was able to get on my own, and all did quality work. We have a very large raised 3 story trex deck with rotting cedar railings. Called numerous companies for a railing replacement and the majority would only consider new deck replacement and were not interested, even though this was a big job. We were replacing the cedar with aluminum railings. Dan came by numerous times over a period of months during the planning stages to get us exactly what we wanted for a fair price. He secured samples, talked about the options, was prompt, professional and helpful in all ways. He was quite busy and at one point we assumed that the job wouldn't be done until the early spring. We were fine with that as we didn't need the use of the deck during the winter. Low and behold, here comes Dan and Bill in December ready to start. Permits were secured and no matter the weather those guys were out there working. Before long the rotten cedar railing was replaced with aluminum and look absolutely wonderful. Sam is truly a Class Act…read more Having been through our fair share of harrowing and disappointing experiences with handymen and contractors in the past, we were extremely wary as we got started with our kitchen remodel planning process. As a matter of due diligence, we invited 10 contractors to propose a quote. For one, Sam's estimate was very competitive and reasonable (compared to other quotes). More importantly, he quickly grasped what our overall objectives were for the space, and proactively made some great suggestions that gave us the confidence that he was in sync with our requirements. As with most customers that go through a major remodel, my wife and I went back and forth on our choices for the cabinets and countertop, and not once did Sam flinch or pushback. On the contrary, there were certain additional items that were not part of our initial discussions (and estimate) that Sam voluntarily brought up and offered to do for us (at no additional cost) despite knowing that it would mean additional labor to him. Aware that we had wanted the remodel to be completed before Christmas as were hosting a party at home, Sam spent most of Christmas eve literally rolling up his sleeves and working non-stop for over 8 hours (without even meal breaks) and left only after he personally cleaned up the space. It is not always easy for small business owners to consistently put 'customer service' ahead of profits, but that is exactly what I observed of Sam, time and again. He did not accept the final payment until he was certain that we were 100% happy with the final outcome. I do not believe I have ever written such a long review for anyone, and that is hopefully a testimony to Sam's work. We cannot be more delighted with our new kitchen and I am happy to share some pictures. We look forward to working with Sam again on our future home projects.

I called Marcelo Meraz and he worked well with the State Farm adjuster! My roof and gutters were replaced including my chimney! His crew did the job well, respected my property and the clean up was spotless! After roof was replaced, he came the following day to inspect the chimney and roof personally!
