Malaysian ho fun (has shrimp, carrots, egg, green onion)
    Brenda L.

This review's for the food and not the ambience/restaurant space itself. I've only eaten by delivery from here. Their updated hours: Monday-Saturday 11am-12am and Sunday noon-12AM. This place opens late! For delivery, you have to order at least $10 worth of food. I got a Malaysian ho fun noodles (flat spicy noodles is what they are advertised as), hot and sour soup and a vitamin water. The ho fun noodles are absolutely up my alley. These are the types of noodles I tend to crave. They are like chow fun noodles except much wider. I love this type of noodle so much and am so happy I found a place that serves them. The noodles aren't super spicy. The food came super hot and came with a free fortune cookie and a bag of fried wonton strips (I am guessing for the soup). The soup tastes slightly different than some hot and sour soups I've had but it is very yummy still. I also tried the garlic chicken and kung pao beef. I liked that you could choose which size you wanted for the chicken (pint vs. quart). Finally, people can order different portion sizes for Chinese take-out! They both come with rice. Their menu is huge and includes American, Thaï, Malaysian, Chinese, and Japanese foods. Foods included burgers, kim chi, fried rices, hibachi, noodles, soups, salads, tofu dishes, diet menu (less fried stuff, more steamed stuff) and desserts like almond or fortune cookies. They deliver on GrubHub. I'll likely order from them again. Delivery took 18 minutes (both times I ordered) which was much faster than their estimated 40-50 minutes. The driver was friendly and had a smile. He called upon arriving and said he was at the lobby (when really he was in his car outside in the parking lot in front of the lobby). Nevertheless, he pulled up just at the right time as I stepped out the door. The outside of the noodle box was greasy but I guess lots of Chinese take-out tends to be overall greasy. My vitamin water came cold which was nice. They cook their food without MSG. They also do catering and party trays. Delivery was $1.25 and the order was under $14. Most delivery spots in Syracuse are $2.99. I was sick and really wanted congee. I ordered the rice chicken soup thinking it was congee but it wasn't. It didn't have the ginger flavor that congee often has and the rice was more loose than mushy. I also tried the wonton soup. The broth was fine but the wontons itself weren't the best. I ordered a tofu salad with miso dressing and thought it was really big for the price. Overall, the food is very affordable and will satisfy your Chinese hankering.

Pu Pu Platter with chicken and broccoli

I ordered online. Pickup process was easy. Nice kid working the door. The pu pu platter was delicious my favorite had to be the chicken on a stick and spring rolls. The chicken and broccoli was very good too, too much broccoli and not much chicken but still was delicious, also adding the white rice to it. A lot of food and will definitely fill you up. I'd recommend it!

My favorite spot in Cuse for Chinese tofu dishes. Always consistently on time and delicious!!

The staff were incredibly friendly and efficient. We got there at 2:25 and the said last order while be 2:40, to make sure we wanted to stay. We meant to get there at 2:05 but we had am unplanned bathroom break on our way from Buffalo. The food came out VERY FAST. I've never seen anything like it. Maybe we were the only ones still ordering but even so, very fast. A server writes down the order on a pad, no sheets to fill or tablets. She reminded us we would be charged for uneaten food but the kids assured us they could eat everything. Other than a mistake roll (I think we were given a rainbow instead of an eel) they demolished the food. The only thing that would make it better would be Inari. It's a staple for vegans and vegetarians, but I still came out ahead with my sweet potato tempura hand rolls, avocado hand rolls, seaweed sala, and miso soup. Everyone loved the French fries, which is not the norm for AYCE sushi. Kids also loved the chicken nuggets, shrimp tempura, crab Rangoon, yakisoba noodles, and steak hibachi. Steak looked freshly cooked and not overdone. The kids ordered 5 or 6 different rolls and liked them all. Cannot say enough about how lovely and gracious the staff was, even after closing when we were clearly cutting into their break before the dinner shift.

The fish on the nigiri is sliced very thinly and I'm not too surprised as it's AYCE but just keep in mind the ratio leans heavy on the rice. Sashimi is also NOT included in the AYCE price and I believe it's $1 or so per sashimi piece so they do try to fill you up with the sushi rice. I'm not really a roll person, I prefer nigri and raw fish for my sushi cravings. That being said, Akina is very affordable for AYCE The service is good, I don't think the wait is incredibly long. Usually we only wait about 20 mins or so. They do have high chairs and the bathrooms are clean. Parking is fine too, they're in a plaza so there is parking but sometimes it can get pretty full there. I would recommend eating at Akina if you're in the mood for AYCE sushi in Cuse.

Interior is cute, quiet and clean. They have karaoke downstairs. The tempura was good, light and fresh. The fried chicken wings - cheese were disappointing. I have ordered this type of chicken wing from other restaurants in the past and it is always a cheese type of powder the coats it. This was cheese melted on top, not even a sauce or powder,, and that does make a difference for the dish as it had no flavor. I have seen cheese melted on top of spicy wings before but this also was not that. It was disappointing especially for the price ($24.99). Overcooked and dry.

Glad I stayed. Despite its name, the sushi was so-so. Think of this place as a Korean restaurant. Almost all of the patrons were speaking Korean. The beef bibimbop in a stone bowl was great. The stone bowl was unusual in that it was very flat which created a better , I'm not sure what the right word in Korean is, crispy rice layer (what they call soccarrat with paella). There is a parking lot nearby as well as some street parking, but it's something to keep in mind before your visit. I believe they offer an all-you-can-eat special for around $27.99 on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and on Tuesdays and Thursdays many menu items are half off. I visited on a Thursday and took full advantage of the half-off specials. I arrived about 40 minutes before closing, and as other guests left, I ended up being the only person in the restaurant. Honestly, it made for a great experience. The music was a fun mix of house music and R&B, and I found myself dancing in my seat while enjoying my meal. The staff was attentive without being overbearing. They checked on me when needed but also gave me space to relax and enjoy my food. The cook also came over and talked with me for a while and made some suggestions on what he thought I would like. Amazing ! Because everything was half off, my eyes were definitely bigger than my stomach! I ordered several different items and was completely full by my second plate. Most dishes come as small plates with two to four pieces, making it easy to try a variety of items. One of the coolest parts of the experience was the conveyor belt system. Once your food is prepared, it's sent down the conveyor belt to your seat. Since I was the only customer there, it was easy to know which dishes were mine. I'd be interested to see how it works during busier hours. I honestly can't remember everything I ordered, but I enjoyed almost all of it. My least favorite item was the sweet potato roll--it wasn't bad, just not my personal favorite. Everything else was fresh, flavorful, and worth trying. Overall, I had a really good time and will definitely be back, especially on a half-off day. Great food, great music, and a fun dining experience. We enjoyed a nice lunch with fresh sushi created by the sushi chefs behind the counter, of course. It's a peaceful place to go when there's only few people in there. But, I could see it being loud if there were a packed house in there. I wouldn't say it's the best sushi I ever had, but it's fun for the novelty of it for sure.

It's small but when I go I can always find a table. We like the hot tea, the milk tea, and the miso soup is very good. And the takeout is great too. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because in the last year or so I've noticed some popular rolls and dishes like chirashi and California rolls have been prepared ahead of time. They're very cold, right out of the fridge, like sushi from Wegmans. I'm sure they were made that day, and I get they're trying to save some time, especially for the labor-intensive chirashi, but you can't taste it as well when it's cold like that. So I recommend sticking with some of the special rolls. We had a couple of the new ones today after they revamped their menu and they were very good.

I've always been hesitant to try it since I usually stick to cooked seafood, but it was actually so good! Flavorful, fresh, and the texture was way better than I expected -- honestly, similar to shrimp. If you like shrimp, you'd probably enjoy this too. For toppings, I went with shrimp, mango, crab meat, corn, chili flakes, and a few other things (I even snapped a pic of my order card because I can never remember everything!). The poke bowls are always fresh, flavorful, and customizable, and I love that you can watch them chop everything right in front of you.
