Okay, when you're in Gilroy, there really aren't much options for food aside from greasy fast food or diner food. We were at Gilroy Gardens and was famished and needed some food in our bellies. My sister hopped on Yelp, while we were on top of the ferris wheel and found this place. Sister: "Want to get asian buffet?" Me: "Sure, what's the place called?" Sister: "Asian Buffet" LOLOLOL! This place has really good reviews and prices so we decided to give it a shot. They only charge half of what other buffets in the Bay Area charges! All 5 of us dined for less than $80 after tips and tax. They have lots of food too, from crab to shrimp to sushi and Chinese food. Everything was well seasoned and had lots of ingredients in it. The food kept coming, whenever anything was low, an employee was quick to fill it back up. The staff here are great and on top of their stuff, plates never sit on your table for more than 10 minutes and water gets refilled before your cup even reaches the last drop. Some of my favorites were: -Hot & Sour Soup: Hot damn, they put a lot of ingredients in this! The tofu bits are huge & they put lots of black fungus & bamboo shoots in it. Usually places give you the tiniest of pieces of the ingredients and give you mostly liquid. -Salt and pepper crab: I admit, the crab here don't have a lot of meat because they don't use dungeness crab but they were still super tasty. Does take a lot of effort but hey you gotta be willing to put in work when eating seafood! -Chow Mein: They use the chubbier noodles, so chewy and delicious. -Sushi: Who doesn't like sushi? -Salt and pepper shrimp & honey walnut shrimp (minus the walnuts) Don't be turned off by their name or low reviews. This place is great and super affordable. Staff here are tentative and you'll never leave hungry. read more

Asian Buffet The fam and I make a pit stop here roughly 50% of the time when we visit Gilroy Gardens. The percentage is solely due to thThey charge per year for kids so that's a major plus! The selection for both lunch and dinner is excellent!! Even weekend lunch has some sushi, muscles, chilled and fried shrimp, (there has to be another 1-2 seafood dishes, sushi/sashimi, I'm missing that are normally reserved for dinner at the traditional buffet). Service is great as it normally is at a buffet, the food has a pretty high turnaround (at least in my experience) and the servers are accessible if needed. Price is excellent and extremely fair especially given the excellent selection!! (It's medical care after the heart attack that will cost ya) read more

Very affordable price. The food is very clean and they have many different kinds. Egg flower soup is dope. California roll is fresh and delicious. read more

Love it here! First of all, the food is great and I mean great. From the dishes to the desserts and soups, they have actual flavor! Like you can genuinely taste each thing and like how it tastes. I will say I love the sushi and the desserts they have. You can't beat the price either and they have a good amount of choices for dishes. The staff there is also friendly and they keep the place very clean. I would honestly recommend it to anyone I know. read more

A great value for athletes. If you need a high calorie diet rich in lean meats and proteins as well as gluten free carbs, it doesn't get a lot better than rice and chicken -- and this place has tons of great tasting rice and chicken dishes waiting to be eaten, and you can eat as much as you want. Hit your macro goals, and then grab some vegetables and fruits for fiber and micronutrients. They have a wide variety of different fruits and vegetables to choose from any given day, so you can change your intake based on your dietary needs that specific day. Soft serve ice cream, good seafood including crab and clams, as well as a pretty good sushi bar, about as good as what you can find at a Safeway or Whole Foods. They have Tuna avocado rolls (I think, unless it is salmon but either way) as well, so you can also get omega-3's here. Hard to go wrong. Stopping by once a day can take care of most of your daily nutritional needs, and it can save you time on cooking and cleaning if you have a tight schedule, which is pretty cool. Basically efficient, nutritious and convenient. Is it ideal to survive on buffet foods? Well no not entirely. Is it cost effective? Yes. Does it save you time? Yeah. So you know if you can't really afford high calorie healthy foods from a grocery store then this isn't a bad option at all. read more

Many selections available, and I especially like the fired dumplings over there, my kids love the fired spring roll, garlic bread, shrimp, cookies and ice cream a lot! The price is reasonable. This is not a fancy buffet, but it met the need of my family very well, all ages can find something that they like to eat. read more

Such a hidden gem and very affordable. We came on a Wednesday at 3:00pm and everything I tried was fresh a delicious. Just when I was ready to grab some some fruit and call it quits I walked by the crab and crawfish that just came out. Who could resist, glad I gave it a nibble, yummy. There are several foods for picky little ones also For me at it was $8.75, kids very on age E was $3.75. read more

This is probably the most cost effective - bang for your buck, buffet I have been too. $25ish for 2 people's dinner and 2 drinks were $3ish. Now tell me, isn't that something? Food is ok. Decent enough for the price. I ate most things, except the sushi. Enough variety and enough refilling. read more

The food and taste are very good. The variety of food is enough to satisfy different preferences. The service is ok. This is a self-service buffet, so waitress bring the drink, utensils and remove the used plates. The ambient is a little dark when you are transitioning from outside to inside. Once you are there for few minutes gets better. Definitely, the ambient and restroom could be improved for this reason I gave them 4 starts. read more

If you want to eat at a buffet, go here, simple as that. The price is around $15 for adults. You won't be amazed by the food here by any means but that's fine, honestly feel like they bought it from a local Safeway or something. read more

This was an amazing find! Thanks fellow Yelpers! Definitely wouldn't have tried this place if not for the positive reviews. Food was really good and if you consider the cost, it was exceptional! Tried a little of everything and liked it all. The ribs were really good. Also enjoyed their sushi selection. It wasn't very diverse but what they had was good. It's not what I would call authentic Chinese food but everything was fresh. They also refilled empty items rather quickly. Service was spot on. They kept our table clear of empty dishes and refilled our waters promptly. Will definitely come back the next time we're shopping at the outlet malls. read more

Now open during the pandemic. You walk in, they give you a to go container and your own set of tongs. If you want rice, sushi or sauces they will serve you. They keep all entrees covered on the steam table until customers are ready to serve. When you are done, you drop off your dirty tongs and get your order weighed. The selection is limited compared to pre-COVID but you can still make a nice enough plate for yourself. If you have high gourmet expectations, you will be disappointed but if you want a bit of tasty Chinese grub you'll be fine. Been there 3 times in the past 2 weeks. No complaints. Thank you Asian Buffet! read more

Changing to 3 stars from 4. First time I went was right when they opened, the food was nice and fresh. When we came here this time, 2 hours before closing, it was pretty busy. We stood there waiting for the lady to come up for about 7 minutes. I asked if we could go sit down,... about another 5 minutes we finally were able to go get a table. You could tell the food has been sitting there for some time; didn't look too appetizing. There was 3 people who asked employees if they were going to refill the crab. A bunch of items were empty and left empty. An hour before closing the employees were cleaning up as if they were about to close. But there was about 50-60 people there with an hour to go. When the food is fresh and they just open it was good. A few hours before closing, not so much. read more

$11.99 for a Saturday brunch. No crab. Shrimp with poop in it. Sushi is fresh and amazing! Unfortunately you can't tell what is in them. Potstickers are crispy and great. Glass noodles taste good. If you have kids it's awesome for the pizza, French fries, chicken wings, corn, and sweets. read more

I'm amazed that they've kept the price the same even after a year - definitely the cheapest buffet in the Bay. You get what you pay for. The interior seating and dishware were clean, the selection of items was decent, and the food was tasty. Initial seating was a bit slow but they were great at clearing up empty plates as well as refilling food items. As always I tried a little bit of everything that looked appealing and went back for more if it's good. Some of the things that I enjoyed were the seasoned fries, fried calamari, deep fried sushi, fried catfish filet, char siu ribs, and seafood soup. I usually always get platefuls of the black bean clams but they were too salty on this particular occasion, perhaps better luck on another day. Dessert was not spectacular and you might want to avoid the ice cream - it has a grainy consistency as opposed to creamier ones. read more

Asian Buffet - A bit of everything. - Chinese Near Me - Gilroy, California

Great experience here. Came and ate to my heart's content! For $11.75, this place is a such a deal. You can get different soups, sushi, and desserts, in addition to your usual Chinese food. However, the biggest draw is all the seafood for dinner. I really recommend trying the crab if you can! It was surprisingly really good - they fry it so that it has a salt & peppered taste. The sushi is more typical and average, would skip. Love that there are 3 different soup options (egg drop, seafood, and hot&sour soup). Will be back! read more

Love to go during lunch hours! They have the mushroom and sushi that is very delicious. The servers suck because they aren't very attentive. They don't have the food station to prepare it fresh anymore which sucks but overall. I always go!(: read more

Went to try this place out a couple of days ago after going to the Gilroy Outlet. Gotta admit, my expectations were better than I expected. Going to Chinese buffets always has the stigma of being dirty and the food having low quality...and perhaps in general, there is some truth to that. However, Asian Buffet isn't like that. For one, the place is quite clean...the servers quicky clean the table as soon as guests leave and they don't stare at you while you're eating expecting you to leave asap. They mind their business at the back and goes on to your table just to pick up the plates. As far as the food is concern, the food was not bad. There are a variety of foods to choose from, from sushi to straight American food. The desserts are also abundant, and there is always supplies of utensils and plates on the table. I always go for the sushi at every buffet I go to, so I tend to rate the Chinese buffet based on their sushi (odd as it might sound). This place has an okay selection of sushi - might have added an unagi roll, but the ones they have are pretty good. So whenever you feel like having a buffet and you're around Gilroy, check this place out and see for yourself. I would certainly go back if I am ever in the area again... read more

I came in having high hopes because of all the great reviews. Not everything was bad, but most of the food was really bland. I mean, for $11.75, not too bad, i guess? Yeah that's what i thought until i bit into this chicken. I noticed it was pretty soft to begin with, but as i took another bite, i saw that it was red! (meaning it wasn't fully cooked) oh and the restrooms? NASTY. read more

Food quality is average. Selection is ok , sushi selection and quality is poor. Good place if you want quantity

Food tastes fine it just needs to be kept hot. Service was good. They seem to keep it clean.

This place is actually pretty good. I been to a few buffets like this one. And this one is by far the best one. I am a vegetarian so finding anything with no meat in a buffet is very hard for me. But here there is a few options available for someone like me. read more

food tasted bad. most of the employees don't even understand what we're saying. Dinner pricing was $11.75. For a basic Asian buffet, that pricing was really cheap. Seniors 65 and older get a 10% discount as well. All in all my group of 6 ate for less than $80, so cheap. But the food was mediocre. A lot of varieties of chicken.. if you can eat $12 worth of Panda Express, then yeah I guess. But tbh, I'd rather spend $12 on quality of food than this buffet. But we were in the area and my asian mama wanted this typical asian buffet stuff. She also wasn't impressed though. read more

My son chose chinese food for his birthday dinner tonight. So we took him here, since it's one of his favorite places. The food was good, I'm sure it would have been even better if it was fresh but you could tell the food had been sitting under the lights for a while, still it wasn't bad. The customer service was great, it was like they could read our minds, knowing when we wanted refills or needed new cutlery. Also they took away the plates very quickly after we were finished with them. The bathrooms were very clean, which I appreciate as a mom to small children, some bathrooms are awful and I hate taking my kids in them but this one was great. They have a good selection of foods and the price was great for our big group tonight. We will definitely be coming back. read more

I live in San Francisco. Whenever I travel I'm always disappointed with the food (except Vegas and LA). This place really surprised me. Everything I tried here was good. The place isn't elegant nor food great looking. But the taste is legit. Would happily return. The only exception is the desserts: nothing I tried tasted good except the almond cookies. Redeemed the others. And for $11.75 the value is unbeatable. Whether you're a local or traveling through, try this place out. Just watch your portions. Eat just past enough, so you can leave with a good experience. read more
