I stumbled Upon This Place almost two years ago after moving to Chicago. I was seen immediately by Shayla who did the best job on my nails I've ever had done. When I first started coming my nails were barely above my skin, and now they are so long people think they are fake. Shayla not only does a fantastic job on my nails, but also keeps them strong and healthy and knows exactly how to take care of them. I encourage anyone who is looking for a new nail salon run by fantastic professionals to come here you will not be disappointed!! I never leave poor reviews EVER I had a poor experience here about 6 months ago. The nail tech cut my cuticles to the point I bled and the no chip manicure was done very sloppy and lasted about 5 days before it chipped. It's close to my house and I needed to get my nails done before vacation and after reading reviews I decided to book an appointment with a well reviewed nail tech. I get there and I am placed with the same nail tech as the first time I went (NOT the one I booked) and the same thing happened. Done very sloppy. NO. Don't do it. Don't make an appointment. It won't matter. You'll still wait for 20 minutes with your feet in cold water while they work on everyone BUT you until you say something that makes it blatantly obvious you know you're intentionally being overlooked. Then, when you politely ask for your now freezing cold water to be heated up, they'll burn you with scalding hot water, skip your foot rub have to be audacity to still charge full price. I tried multiple Nail Salons on this street before coming back to Asia Nails. They by far are better. Usually when I get a pedicure i'm not picky on who does it. But when I get my manicure (acrylics or gelX) I only go to one person. The receptionist is amazing. My long overdue first yelp review for my girl, Katie. You know, I have been going to Asia Nails on North ave. for about four years. I used to live nearby the salon in Wicker and for the last two years have lived on the other side of town by navy pier. I WILL CROSS TOWN EVERY TWO WEEKS TO GET MY (no chip and a standard pedi) NAILS DONE BY KATIE. Part of me doesn't even want to leave this review because I don't want her to get booked up like crazy, but holy crap, she is amazing. I have been short on time and have been forced to go other places closer to home in recent months -- and it's always such a pain trying to find someone who can do such an incredible job for the price point they charge ($53 dolla holla!). Every woman has their thing, my nails are my thing, and I cringe at the thought of having to go anywhere else but here. Not only do my nails always look amazing when she is finished, AND NEVER CHIP -- she is incredibly gentle with the natural nail bed. Never over buffs, doesn't aggressively file, never cuts me. She doesn't miss the edges and paints very close to the cuticle without ever getting polish in the side crevices. Honestly, she does magazine worthy work IMO. I also get an amazing mini-massage, pretty funny and genuine conversation, and an hour of wheel of fortune. I love my bi-weekly date with my nail salon and hope more people get to experience this gem. For the yelp haters out here -- give this salon another chance and have Katie do your nails. I was so excited to finally go in and get my first dip manicure in the neighborhood. The staff is friendly, and I luckily got in with no wait time. I do hear it can get busy here. The woman did a good job on my pedicure it's been a little over two weeks and still looks good. I was expecting what I had read on dips that they should last a good three weeks, no chip, and you get it redone because of the nail grow out. Probably about ten days I had four little chips on my nails and then on full polish came off my whole nail. I was a bit disappointed and I wasn't sure on their policy for fixing nails. Overall the staff was nice, clean, great color selection but I probably won't go back for a dip. I'm not sure if what happened was common or if it was the way the tech applied but for $50 + tip I'd rather just get a gel at my regular nail salon. read more

I'm new to Chicago. Wanted to find a good place to do my nails . I asked the lady if she can please make the nail bed flat since I don't like how it looks curved she said "no, your nail is just like that". I told her it's weird bc the other nails that hadn't fallen off were flat (from the previous place i went to in San Diego) and the new nails she applied were curved... she tried to make it flat I guess but was really rude about it . She would throw my hand once she's ready for the next one hand. Not sure if it's a Chicago thing but definitely not tolerable in California. Will be looking for a more professional place. 1.5 stars, which I hate to say, but I think it really depends on your technician. For a quick pedi for about $25 before tip, it wasn't horrible. My friend and I came in on Monday at 2 for a catchup day. On Monday, they also have a mani/pedi special for a reduced price, which my friend got, but I stuck with just the pedi. When I mentioned that to the technician, her face fell, and she seemed disappointed that I didn't want both. Whatevs. They have massage chairs and TVs. Depending on which polish you pick from the wall, there might be an extra charge. I'm not quite sure what the difference was. I think it's if the color is new to the salon, then there's an extra charge, but definitely double-check. Overall, I wasn't thrilled with my experience. It seemed faster than at most places. When my nails were done, the trim and color seemed a little on the sloppy side. My nails were uneven and the polish was blotchy. One, in particular, was pretty bad. I mentioned it to her, and she tried to fix it, but it didn't seem like she could see it really, and after a quick snip and coat, she said it was fixed. I tried to explain to her that it wasn't, but given the language barrier, I could see I was getting nowhere fast so I let it go. The dryers weren't working, and we had to try a few seats before we could get one that worked properly. And once, I was barely seated, she kept pushing me to pay now. It was just awkward. The absolute WORST part was that afterwards, my left foot was itching like crazy FOR ALMOST A WEEK. I mean no joke, I thought I had some infection and probably did. There was nothing horribly disturbing visually, but I was still looking up urgent care clinics and googling foot infection just in case I needed to respond quickly. Thankfully, on the 5th day, it started to get better, and now it's gone. It was definitely no bueno. My friend, thankfully, had a pleasant experience and had no issues at all. We both agreed that the Asia Nails in Logan is wayyyyyy better. Go there! Overall, I can't recommend this place. I hate writing bad reviews, but I do feel obligated to share my experiences if it's helpful in anyway. If you do decide to go here, just buy some Neosporin and Aquaphor in advance. Another girl walked in right behind me and they took her name and told her 4:00. I went back in to make sure they didn't need my name, maybe 30 seconds had passed, and he said, come back tomorrow at 3. Uh no. I'm surprised by the poor reviews! They fit me in last minute tonight for a no chip acrylic fill- night before Thanksgiving - and I was a little hesitant as the gentleman at the front desk was the one who did my nails and there seemed to be complaints about him. Literally the fastest fill I have ever had and he did a great job! I was in and out within forty minutes tops. Maybe wasn't the most personable, but I didn't find him rude at all, was even joking with the younger girl there who complimented me on my choice of polish. Will definitely go back! read more

I didn't like a few things about the service. First off, the technique was poor because when he filed my nails he went over the cuticles which dried up the skin around my nails, as seen in the picture. They also look too chunky (even though they were filed so about 5 times). The man who did my nails had dirty long finger nails, which spoke ironically of them since they're nail technicians. Also surprised by low reviews here--- Love this place! My nails are terrible. I mean probably the worst in the world. A regular manicure lasts less than 12 hours an I am lucky to get 5 days out of a no chip. That all changed when I came here and met Katie! :) My nails last 2 weeks minimum, she is quick, concise, a perfectionist-- and I just love her! I used to go right downstairs of where I work in the loop for convenience but I will drag my butt across to North Ave. to visit my favorite place for the best no chip this side of the Mississipi. I wasn't going to write a review but seeing as my thumb is still throbbing... I did my usual light shade and asked to just shape my nails. Well I left with a deep cut and uneven right hand. Can't beat the price and I'm always able to walk in with no appointment. I got a mani/pedi today, and I've never had someone scrub and massage my feet for so long. I run a lot and they were still able to remove literally all my callouses. They have Essie, OPI, etc brand polishes in a variety of colors. Staff is friendly and the facility is clean. I read all the reviews and I wasn't expecting service with a smile but I needed somewhere close to home so I thought 'how bad can it be'...... What I wasn't expecting was the guy doing my nails to bark orders at me and get very cross when I wasn't quite understanding what he was saying. On top of that he was on his phone throughout doing my manicure, reading text messages whilst filing my nails and pausing to reply to texts. I've been regularly seeing my girl Shayla for a year and a half. She's never done me dirty. I would highly recommend seeing her for your nail needs and desires. My nails are stronger than they've ever been - I've been using gel on my nails for as long as I've been going to her. She files them to perfection and you can tell she enjoys her craft. Reasonably priced and mine always last up to 3 weeks without chipping. I only go back because they look too outgrown after that long. Ask for Shayla, she'll treat you right. read more

Came here out of the blue and had a great experience. I was seated right away for a no chip manicure which was great since I was a walk-in. The nail artist doing my nails was friendly and personable and I had a great chat with her while she did my nails. It seemed to be pretty busy when I came in but my nails didn't take that long. I loved how she asked me if I wanted an extra coat at the end instead of leaving it too thin like I've experienced in the past. My nails were shaped well and the polish applied expertly. It's been about a week and my nails have grown out a lot but it still looks great. I had a Dentist Appointment near by. I decided to get my nails done. Negatives 1)The place looks awful, unsanitary, unkept. 2) I asked if they had mood change polish? I asked how much it would be for full set gel and pedicure total $68.00 They said mood change gel only available in non-chip and if I wanted $58. With regular polish. the guy walked up very hostile towards me. It seem my questions bother him. 3) When I looked at the regular polish selection. they looked old half way used... EWW!!! Great, solid nail establishment. My only complaint is that sometimes my nails stay on too long (I'm really low maintenance so maybe acrylics are not for me :P). In regards to other reviewers- this is Chicago and I've never heard of any places offering free champagne - maybe try Soho House. This is a neighborhood nail spot and they can get you in and our fairly quickly and without much fuss. I would try a hotel if you are looking for a fancier experience! read more

OMG. I'm still stunned at my experience at this place. Walk in. Saturday 7pm. Asked for a Brazilian wax. The lady says "ok." She also stated (for some reason) that they were hoping to close an hour earlier since it had been slow today [read: we really wanted to close as you were walking in.] She starts the process. 3 wax strips in, I'm thinking to myself "what in the hell?!" She was barely using any wax. It was as if she was using bare masking tape! THEN IT HAPPENS: Lady: *accent* Oooo...you have lot of hair. It's too much. OOo...it curlyyyy. Me: Uh...that's why I'm here. To have it removed. Lady: I can't do full thing. I can only give you Bikini Wax. Me: WHY? I told you I wanted it ALL off. Lady: **suddenly [read: conveniently] she can't find the ENglish words to convey her thoughts." So for 5-10 minutes I'm lying there naked w/ her trying to tell me she can't give me a full BRAZILIAN was b/c I have too much hair and...*gasp*..."it's curly." (her words.) I HAD to ask her: "...er, have you not ever done a waxing on a Black person before? LIke seriously!" HER: Yeah. But they no have a lot. ANd I only give them bikini wax. This lady also has the nerve to say usually when she does brazilian waxes, the hair is "straight." She claimed she didn't know how to do a full waxing on 'curly' hair? WTF! Uhm...I've seen other pubes (eew) and I know most ethnicities do NOT have bone-straight hair down there. SO after going in circles and me asking her WHY she couldn't do it...I got nothing. I mean...is it because you're being lazy? You supposedly don't know how to do a full waxing on "curly" hair (as she put it)? You think you're going to hurt me? I JUST DIDN'T GET IT!!! She claimed she would hurt me. Er...I'm expecting it to hurt! It always hurts! I was insulted, annoyed...and well...frustrated. Mostly annoyed. Basically, I ended up getting up and leaving. It was all or nothing! She apologized, but my guess is she really couldn't care less. She just didn't want to do it.
