I loved our stay at the Ashore in Seaside, not only was it the cheapest hotel in the city of Seaside the weekend we stayed but it was BY FAR my favorite hotel I have ever stayed at on the Oregon Coast. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, they're dog friendly, the room was clean and was very industrial chic, they used eco-friendly products, the salt water pool was great and they had a great selection of beer and wine to choose from. The only downside for us was we were driving down to the coast to look at vacation homes to purchase so we won't be needing a place to stay along the coast anymore. read more

We just stayed here for 4 days over the Christmas holiday. They are SUPER dog friendly and actually really love dogs and interacting with them. Room was so cool with hard wood floors, comfy bed, sliding metal bathroom door, very rustic with great amenities and decor. Staff was so friendly and took great care of us with free coffee and water, great craft beer and wine bar, small snacks and breakfast sammies, espresso coffee choices, games and movies for free use, bicycles to use, salt water indoor pool, sauna, fire pit, and nice area on side to take the dogs potty. About 1.5 short blocks to beach and a few blocks from LOTS of great shopping and fantastic places to eat. Would choose Ashore every time....much nicer than all the run down and expensive ocean view rooms. Excellent value and only charged $20 per dog for the entire stay! read more

My husband and I were traveling from Washington to California and needed a place to stay overnight in Seaside. We stumbled upon Ashore hotel and were so glad we did. The woman who checked us in was very friendly, the rooms were reasonably priced, modern and most importantly, clean. The location was quiet and felt safe. We enjoyed watching the sunset and grabbing dinner within walking distance to the hotel. I had the best sleep of our entire trip here and would definitely stay here again if we're ever in the area. read more

I get it. They bought a no-tell motel close to the beach and are revamping it and trying to make a go of it. Needs a lot of work. First room we were given was lucky 13. Opened the door-- was not cleaned from previous guest. Bed unmade, not changed, etc. Front desk apologized and gave us 10% off our room. (Wow. A whole $10.) Our room was cleanish and SMALL. You walk in, and you are 2 steps before you are at your bed. (Incidentally, give your bed a WIDE berth, or you will gouge your shins by the bed frame constantly. Yeowch!!) Nothing but a hook to hang your clothes up on. Hope you don't mind living out of a suitcase and/or don't plan on staying long. Lights are "industrial" style so skip the makeup, ladies. You can't see to put any on in the mirror. Shower only, no tub, which is impossible to use without soaking your hair every single time. No view at all other than that of a parking lot. Pool is indoor, very small, 4-feet deep, and disappointing. Wine and beer available in lobby. Pinot Noir will run you $12/glass. REALLY?! Am I at a nice Hyatt or something?! Luckily we brought our own wine and beer with. Would have been nice to put it in a COLD mini fridge, but it wasn't plugged in and operational upon our arrival. Decided we'd like to stay in one night (of 3) and watch some TV --TVs don't work. Well...take that back. If you like watching NOTHING but Fox News, you'll think you've died and gone to Heaven. I wouldn't stay here again even if it was free. read more

This is an ace motel stuck in a time warp town with some of the most memorable oddities on the west coast. The motel itself is just dreamy, right near the beach with the apocalyptic swings from a scene out of Terminator 2 (coastal directors cut). It's a gorgeous retro walk along the path. The bed was super comfy, as were the pillows. Was woken up by the alarm clock at 8am - not stoked about that, so my advice is to check that it's off before bedtime. The bathrooms are lovely and all the wood and cool lighting makes for a super ambience. I look forward to going back to Seaside & staying at Ashore again. The morning coffee ruled. If I could give this hotel one gazillion stars, I would. This place is AMAZING, the owner/front desk staff are SO nice and accommodating...every detail in this hotel is amazing and perfect! Literally every detail has been thought out to perfection. I want to live here. It may seem like a hipster's heaven, but the vibe is super chill and unpretentious...it's not over the top, it's simply perfection. Here are the highlights, since I feel they may be undersold: ~FREE use of beach bikes (I mean, c'mon ON) ~coolest communal fire pit ever ~an awesome dry sauna!! ~hands down the BEST complimentary coffee (locally sourced) ~the cutest darn bar you've ever seen with every board game you've ever wanted to play ~a hotel room decorated to PERFECT PINTEREST PERFECTION. Like walking in to your favorite pin, not even exaggerating...every detail is everything you'd ever want it to be My friend, who leaves a trail of personal belongings with him wherever he goes, left behind his pillow when we checked out and within an hour they texted us, letting us know they had it. They also communicate via text which is great when you're traveling...they sent a welcome text the morning of check-in, a really great added touch! The only super minor detail that is a slight negative is that the rooms are not that soundproof, so if you're a light sleeper it may be a concern except that THEY PROVIDE EAR PLUGS BECAUSE THEY ARE AWESOME AND PROVIDE EVERYTHING YOU EVER NEED AND I WANT TO LIVE THERE. My boyfriend and I stayed here last weekend after finding a groupon deal for the hotel, and we are so glad we did! This was our first trip to Seaside and after such a great stay at the Ashore Hotel we will be back again soon. Everything about our stay was fantastic, from the customer service in the lobby to the cleanliness of the room. The hotel is really just done very well overall, the decor is super cool and a little on the hipster side. We stayed in a queen room, which featured a queen bed that was really comfortable and a twin day bed with trundle so it could easily sleep at least 4. The hotel is about half a block from the ocean so it was super accessible. Our pup was welcome at the hotel for an additional fee and she had a blast at the beach. We definitely intend to stay at the Ashore again on our next trip to town! read more

My wife found this place as a last minute hotel for a wedding we attended. Needing a dog friendly place our choices were limited. We were so pleased with how clean and modern it was. Great spot! Very affordable ($64) rate and for what it is (a simple room) it was sweet! Retro fireplace in the King suites. The only downfall is that it was loud from groups hanging outside of their rooms at night. Things quieted down overnight for us, which was great. They do provide ear plugs. read more

I booked a king sized bed room, but When we first got there to check in, the gal asked if it would be OK for us to stay in a queen room instead- the king room wasn't cleaned yet and there were no housekeepers on shift at that time. Kind of a bummer but she was super nice about it and gave us two free beers! The rooms are super cute. Got to rent out their bikes for a couple hours for free, gave us locks for them also :) Used their fire pit at night, the same check in gal offered us blankets and pillows. Complimentary coffee and tea. Also gave us ear plugs to use at night. I think the only down side was the bed.. I have a queen size bed at home and I think the "queen" we slept on was more of a full. And it's a pretty firm bed, my boyfriend had a hard time adjusting and sleeping on it. Overall, we definitely had a good experience. Would stay here over the big hotels at seaside any day. What a cool place to rest your head. On a late night drive during our vacation, Hotwire found us the Ashore Hotel. We snagged a price out side our budget, but we needed to sleep. Little did we know we had treat ahead of us at Ashore. This is not a Ritz Carlton, rather a place your best friend might want you to stay in. Minimalist in design, they have revamped what I imagine was an old, run-down, motel and turned into a place full of charm in every corner. No skimping here, just minimal and clever. The mattress was the best we slept on and it felt like our room was hand built for us by the folks that run the place. Not only did it turn out to be our favorite hotel room in our trip from Denver to San Fran and up the coast to Seattle, but they were beyond accommodating. We were set to arrive well past their office closing time, but the gal at the front desk waited and assured us she was planning on staying late anyway. Perfect customer service and a passion for the place and people she served. My only regret is not being able to stay longer than 8 hours here. Cheers! read more

An unexpected gem when we came into Seaside without a room reservation anywhere. Thanks to Yelp we learned just enough to take a look. We got a discount for a last minute booking since they had some vacancies. And we were allowed to check in early. The modern style includes so many cool details - we were curious about the other rooms. A housekeeper who has been working here since before the remodel (in the Sundowner days) showed us the other room styles and they were all amazing. The pet friendliness (only an additional $15 regardless of length of stay) will entice me to return with my dog, especially since the beach is so close and there's plenty of shopping, eating, and recreation within walking distance. I doubt there will be many weekend vacancies once people start discovering this cool place! read more

Hubby and I stayed here for one night. Check in was at 3. Our room wasn't ready till 5ish. Unfortunately our heater wasn't as effective. It took more than an hour to heat up that small room! But Staff was really nice and helpful!! Hotel is so near to beach and many restaurants. read more

Modern, cozy, gem of a hotel! Such a great value, it's small, but designed so well that you have everything you could possibly want -- even to lodge a family of four. Rooms are cleverly decor-ed and super-utilitarian: hooks everywhere, large bottles of re-filled shampoo and conditioner, bare floors to keep sand out and keep rooms cool, day beds for two teenagers who did not want to "share" a bed, zippy internet service. Adorable wine/beer bar at check in and adults can even have a glass while watching the kids in the pool BONUS: fire pit to cozy up to after a chilly swim. Staff was so friendly, helpful and gracious. By far the best boutique hotel in the area! They have a small but nice pool and sauna. Complementary bikes, board games, and movies. Plus tons of organic food options. They are also pet friendly, and have gorgeous style/setup, along with a bonfire pit where you can roast some marshmallows! Coming from out of town, we were really looking forward to our visit. The rooms were fine but the king mattress in the suite has a drastic dip, the pillows leave a lot to be desired and the bathroom smells (clearly not cleaned well). The biggest problem was a lack of service in the lobby. We requested food and snacks around 9 and 9:30 but we're told the till was closed even though signs clearly state the bar/snack bar was open until 10. Meanwhile, staff was sitting around eating and drinking but could not accommodate us - a real lack of service!!! read more

Ashore is a very cool refurbished motel a block from the beach in Seaside. Booking was easy, staff was friendly, and the amenities and room were even nicer than expected. We borrowed the free bikes for a ride around town and had a fire on the beach at night. I would definitely recommend Ashore to anyone staying in Seaside. read more

Hidden GEM! We headed to the PNW coast to celebrate our one year anniversary. I found Ashore via Travelocity, to be honest I was looking for a hotel in Cannon but there were no availabilities, therefor I made my reservations at the Ashore Hotel, and I'm SOO happy I did! This motel/hotel conversion was the most amazing little hidden gem. NO STARS AWARDED. I love the accommodations you have/offer here. I came here from Portland to get away with my daughters for the night. My youngest loves the water. She has Down syndrome. We just attempted (20:20) to use the pool; yet, were everything short of physically pushed out by three young boys (who's mother/guardian/"parent") was sitting in the corner of the pool room on her phone, while her boys threw beach balls all over the pool room. I couldn't even take my younger daughter out of my arms, as my older daughter had been hit twice before we even got our robes off. Needless to say, we never made it into the pool, as the unruliness, ill-mannered, lack of supervision and just pure lack of regard for others made it unsafe for my daughter to just dip her foot into the pool. I don't know what else to say, other than this is really unfortunate. You have such a gem here; yet, seem to provide no rules around rough-housing and safe pool house behavior. I'm in room #10 and can here the kids in the pool clear over here on the other side of the property. It's unfortunate. We will not be returning. read more

Let your hipster heart rejoice! Edison bulbs, exposed conduit, galvanized pipe, "pallet" wood, and "hard-wood" floors! Take Ashore for what it is, a comfortable place to hangout, don't expect refined or cozy rooms, it's not a 4 star price or hotel. My wife and I have enjoyed Adrift, the sister hotel in Long Beach, so we thought we would give Ashore a try. We like the king size bed, the shower is a neat idea with the rainfall head, and the fireplace is a cute touch. We were slightly concerned when we noticed the "chimney" wasn't actually functional, but we were relieved to find out you don't burn wood in the fireplace. They offer two cans for fuel, kind of like sterno to be your fire, it's a nice touch. We didn't use the pool because we forgot our suits. The staff was nice and we don't have any major complaints. If you look with a keen eye you'll see where the line between craftsmanship and trendy is blurred, but why spend so much time in your room when your surrounded by beautiful Oregon. We loved the room experience. The bed was firm and comfortable and the entire room/bathroom was brand new and modern. The shower was luxurious and we loved the decor! The robes were very comfortable and we appreciated the cold and hot water in the lobby. I LOVE this hotel! They are just AMAZING! If you are an environmentally conscious person, this is the hotel for you. They are very green! They have taken recycling seriously, and show it! Also every cleaning product from the shampoo and soap in your room to the cleaning supplies in the kitchen are eco friendly. The swimming pool included, (although it is a bit too warm for my tastes, I like it just below body temp so I can work up a sweat swimming without overheating), but it is SALINE not Chlorine. It is rather more of a gigantic hot tub. The people who work and stay here are so friendly. I am an organic farmer from northern Washington and had so much fun with the staff and the other guests at the bonfire pit! I will definitely bring my dogs next time, as they have many pet friendly rooms. My daughter and I came for a bit of mother and daughter time, and now I can't wait to bring my whole family back! I'm sorry if I am using a lot of exclamation but this really is the most excited I have ever been about a hotel stay. I feel like this is what I would do if I were to run a Hotel MYSELF. This is how I LIVE every day, and FINALLY have found a vacation where I feel I have found A HOME AWAY FROM HOME! They also have WONDERFUL organic local beers and wines and nibbles. I just can't say enough GREAT things about this Family! These are wonderful people who just want to make everyone around them as HAPPY as they are. Plus they have a fantastic location, half a block from the Promenade, and free Bikes for riding. If you factor in all the additions in this place it is a SIX star stay! We really liked this place. Very cute and clean. Friendly staff. No ocean views from the rooms but less than a block to the water.

Most important of all, the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The decor is creative and hip. The staff are friendly. The Lattes are excellent. With that said, there are some limitations. There was no couch or sofa chair in our room. The bathroom was small. The floors were concrete which is perfect for visiting the sandy beach, but a bit cold in the AM. However, to end on a positive note, the towels were plush, the toilettries were EO brand, and the TV screen was huge. I would stay here again. read more
