    Half eaten Lamb Curry
    Shirley H.

Based on the reviews, I've decided to try out this place since I'm in the area. I walked in and the restaurant needs a bit of a renovation. It was dim and a bit rundown. I looked all over the menu and didn't find the lunch special. I had to ask staff and picked out what was offered. Also, it was $13. I settled for the lamb curry which was tasty, but not mind-blowing; it came with rice and naan. The naan with it was really tasty and soaked up all the sauce. The chicken tikka masala was a bit too sweet. Also, there were specks of hard black pieces which wasn't a seasoning, looks like it's from a cracked pan; had to spit it out. Lastly, I ordered the lamb biryani and it was just ok. Also, the prices from the menu aren't the same and I didn't get a receipt until my ordered was given to me.

    1. Lamb Tikka Masala, what's left of it.

I've ordered from this establishment many times and it's usually top notch but it usually gets delivered via Uber Eats. They are now delivering using staff and unfortunately one of my meals arrived cracked open with chunks of meat swimming in the bag. I was refunded but I'm very disappointed and will only do pick up if we order from here again. This is not to say their food is bad it's quite good just unfortunate to have been handed a bag swimming in lamb tika masala.

So, so good. All we could say between bites. Was craving Indian food so picked up some take out from Ashoka Grill. The service was really nice, asking if we needed any paper plates. I got the Chicken Tikka Masala lunch special, served with basmati rice and a pillowy naan that's bigger than my face. Exactly what I wanted: tender chicken pieces in perfectly creamy sauce. My husband ordered the Chicken Vindaloo, which definitely satisfied his love for spice. The samosas were crispy and chockfull of potatoes and peas. Would definitely return again.

Chicken tikka was ok- but the samosas was dripping in oil even through the bag and they gave me fully frozen condiments- yuck!

What can I say about this Brooklyn eatery? It's some of the best Indian food that I've ever eaten. The naan was the absolute best. My coworker and I found this by reading other Yelp reviews and decided to give it a try. We liked this place so much that we came back for a second visit the next day. On my first visit, I had Channa Masala. On my second visit, I had Bhindi do Piaza, which is sauteed okra and onions . Delicious!!!

I love Ashoka Grill! I order for delivery and takeout from here often. The quality of the food is great. Their garlic naan is one of my favorites and I absolutely love the vegetable spring rolls. They have a nice flavor and slight kick to them. The chicken tikka masala is delicious. I always ask for it extra spicy and they sure do know how to deliver. I also order the seafood curry with shrimp, which is also amazing and comes very spicy, per request. I once accidentally ordered the Goan shrimp curry and was so disappointed to have all those coconut flakes in my dish. I wish it specified that in the description because that was not enjoyable at all. The portions are big. I usually have leftovers to take to work the next day.

Bombay Grill is one of my favorite Indian restaurants in the city. The food is gently spiced and not greasy. The last time I checked, they had an excellent health department grade. It was a challenge to find that plus an affordable lunch special. One of my other favorite Indian restaurants has had several issues with the NYC health department. The Yelp app is very helpful - it lists the health department grade after the ratings. Bombay Grill also makes excellent curries. I prefer those over the usual chicken tikka masala - although that's always good. If you order lunch, the lunch box has more variety but less of the main course. So if you want just one main dish, it's better to go without a box lunch option and just choose a standard lunch deal.

Spoiler, we never made it to any of the other locations because we were so full. Jalsa provide fare from all over India and makes paneer in house. They have plenty of seating and can take care of large catering parties. As is customary, they have a Sunday lunch buffet. We came on a rainy Saturday afternoons and there weren't many patrons dining. We went with the masala chai, mango lassi, lamb kati roll, and a ghee masala dosa with gun powder, upon recommendation. -The masala chai was perfectly blended, with sugar on the side to sweeten to one's liking. -The mango lassi was really good, but a bit thicker than I'd like; good tartness. -Lamb kati roll was really good, larger than expected. The flavours were well balanced and the paratha had a good flake to it. There was A LOT of lamb inside. -The ghee masala dosa was the shining star; it must have been 2.5, if not 3 feet long. The edges were super crispy like a chip, and the masala potato pilling was delicious If I could do it all over again, I'd only eat here and not eat ahead of time, since this was enough food to fill a party of two (maybe add in a samosa or two). I'll definitely be coming back to try more fare.

I felt like I was eating a mix of Chinese- and Indian-inspired food. The mustard greens reminded me of Chinese fare, while the touch of spicy chutney reminded me of Indian cuisine. After the main meal, I tried their fried green tea ice cream. The dessert was beautifully presented, and tasted as I would have expected: a touch of bitterness from the green tea ice cream, covered in batter.
