Asking about weekend availability shouldn't trigger messages suggesting they "update my records" if I'm no longer interested in being a patient. This practice has strong clinical talent, but the customer service side needs immediate attention. Other reviews on YELP in the last couple of years seem to mirror my disappointment. ALSO, they may wish to remove the snarky, outdated and frankly cringe‑y "...we cater to cowards..." wording in their brochures and on their waiting room tables. It's just unnecessary. No one enjoys going to the dentist, it's a necessary experience. Here's a few examples to consider: "For anyone who prefers kindness over stress." "Perfect for patients who like their dentistry gentle, not scary." "We take the fear out of dental care -- no judgment, just comfort."

They didn't properly complete a service pre-authorization and thus the insurance was rejected. As a patient, I do not have access to the portal nor process whereby pre-authorization is done. Now, I am the one coughing up 1/3 of the cost and compelled to finish my service elsewhere. If I had known the work wasn't pre-authorized, I would not have started the service. I did my part: I paid the insurance and scheduled my appointment well in advance, as well as stayed within the insurance service parameters. Yet now I must spend my time attempting to rectify their admitted mistake. I contacted my insurance provider who confirmed that only the practice can resolve their claim mistakes. And despite being told that the practice appealed the mistake, the insurance company had no record of any such appeal. To top it off, they are demanding the balance payment (~$500) without completing service. You never know who you are communicating with and when you request that the managing dentist call back, there's only silence. Under VA law, I am entitled to my records and materials, regardless of financial status. They continue to insist that I go back to them for service and will not release my prosthetic. I will not go back to them for any reason whatsoever. There are plenty of better experiences out there. Find a different dental provider, not Broadlands Complete Dental.
