    AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS--IT IS A MONEY GRAB OPERATION THAT NICKELS AND DIMES YOU IN EVERY WAY POSSIBLE. This place operates using shady billing practices and tactics. My wife and I have been billed for services we never asked for and the staff is constantly pressing on us to accept services that other dentists do not say we need after getting second and even third opinions. The situation really boiled over one day when my wife went in for a regular routine cleaning and was asked to pay more than $300 for services she did not even ask for which they decided to perform without simply asking her or for her approval. Recently, I received a bill in the mail at the beginning of 2022 for services rendered almost 1 year ago that they decided they never collected on after an "audit" and for a cleaning which I had called in and asked ahead of time if my insurance would cover whereupon they said it would be. This dentist office is the least transparent office I have ever been to. After living in several major cities and getting care from several different providers, in all my life I have never had such horrible experiences. FOLLOW-UP: The practice called me right after I posted this review indirectly threatening me by saying they have won several defamation lawsuits. This just adds ammunition to the fact this practice is absolutely in the wrong. Cannot believe I have to write something like this to warn the general public. I rarely write reviews but if I do it is because I genuinely am afraid someone else will fall victim like me so please beware. They also charged me twice to settle my most recent bill. Hoping one of the charges rolls off and is indeed a hold like they just told me but a screenshot of aforementioned potential double charge is attached.

    Hello Siam, Thank you for getting back to me in a timely manner with your response this morning, yet there are still some misconceptions that you fail to address. And for background context, I have never worked with you in any manner, however, you are taking ownership of your business with Yelp reviews. I get it, not a problem. Dear kevin , 1- "If you have a PPO insurance , we are contracted with them and according to our contract with them, we have to collect your co-pay at the time of the service .  (Nothing to what I am referring to at the rules and practice on payment. I talked about the practice of pay before even my dental service started. And you mentioned at the time of service, no, you collected before the service. Key word here is before. Here is a point to put on your back burner, if I am a new customer coming in to do service, how am I supposed to know what charges are what before I give you my payment... The key concept I am getting at is that you guys are doing it to collect cash as soon as possible. This isn't an illegal practice, but it doesn't serve the best for your customer frankly. It rather makes some of your customers concerned and confused. I did not say all of your customers, some customers, thanks! If you tell us you want to pay after your treatment, we can always collect after you are done, like the lady that you mentioned. No sorry Siam, that is not what happened to begin with. Avanti's front desk mandated that I paid before my service, please get that clear to your and your team. Your rules and practice were SELECTIVE did not give EVERY customer the SAME option of paying post service. Look at Ethan G's Yelp review on 10/6 - " Extremely unethical service. I made the payment before the service, and the front desk said "all you need to pay is $370". After the service, I received another $280 bill." This is not a first teller attempt nor the second. Going back to your first comment, Avanti HAS TO now changed to MAYBE... that was a quick turnaround. And front desk did not ask her for it, it was a SELECTIVE treatment. I did not want to bold/cap the word selective because you are completely ignoring the context of what I mentioned in the first post. Again, red flags on customer service from your front desk or leadership) 2- We have so many patients and Hygenists. There is no way for us to know which patient prefers which hygenist unless you tell us. I am sure if you communicated that with us , we could have arranged it for you.  Before I lay out what happened, how did you know that I did not mention it to your front desk staff? The point I am getting clear here is that I DID get that noted with your staff. I loved working with Damien, he is one of the best that I worked with. Hence the reason I want him back to do his service with me. I worked with Damien on three occasions (two deep cleanings & one cleaning check-up), and he is my go-to person at Avanti, not some random other hygenist; is that clear to comprehend? I wrote in my last comment post was that I DID book with Damien, but again, the front desk seemed to drop the ball on that scheduling changes viat the last minute once more. Not once, but twice! This is something you need to work with your team on, and not falsely defend your business right now. This business is your biggest asset, so take the same effort to make it your asset. And not try to sheer away from what negatively has been reported from your customer's past experience. If there is an update, UPDATE the customer. Is that fair? 3- As I explained earlier to your spouse who wrote us the google review yesterday, we cannot guarantee a third party payment. We do our best to estimate as close as possible and the estimate we gave you was just a few dollars lower than what the insurance price was that is why you received that very small bill.   This one I can take it. This is a practice where you are collecting cash upfront via an estimate and then paying the difference with ACTUAL. It is not about the dollar amount Siam. THINK BIG. Okay fair, that is the collection process for the books, and I respect Avanti's policy. I was not aware of this policy till you typed it out in black and white. Compared to all of the dental services that were actual cost, this does raise eyebrows for some customers. 4 - I don't think you understood our referral program correctly.  Is a spouse not a family member anymore? Maybe I didn't know? How come the front desk had the Gift card ready to give you when I asked the front desk the second time around. They said they will email me when it is ready, (given that) now it changed to family referral, does NOT include spouse? To add on, the text message on the follow-up, never got it. Your business is a busy one? Does it make it any right to IGNORE a follow-up request? Which businesses are NOT BUSY? Everyone's busy, your customers are busy. I was told to wait close to two hours for a schedule mix-up at Avanti, we all are busy Siam.

    I have been seeing Dr Farshad for 15 years. He is an exceptional dentist who genuinely cares about patients, has a passion to help (and joke), and bends over backwards for them. He came in on his day off to treat my pain, with a big, warm smile. The week after, his endodontist did the same thing! He also has the latest tech and best assistants (Elli). Everyone is customer obsessed. Literally all of his front desk staff (especially Ms Seema) could teach a masterclass on customer relations (they are that consistently good and professional).

However, Dr. Hong is very honest in what he does and he refers patients to specialists when special skills are needed. Also, he is ALWAYS on time and does not delay the appointments. Most importantly, my mom and I, we are 100% satisfied with his treatments and trusts his treatment plans and his service. Although we live far away from his office, we've never thought about finding a new dentist as it is hard to find a trustful dentist! I would give 100 starts or more if I can.

However, Dr Maharaja was very rude and condescending and her assistant very rude. Dr Maharaja literally told me that if I didn't follow with her plan (taking my tooth out, putting an implant, putting other multiple crowns, etc), then my teeth would fall out in a couple of years. Every time I tried to question her decision and see if there is another way out, she spoke to me in a very condescending way and her assistant answered me very rudely as well. While checking out at the front desk I scheduled a 6 month cleaning appointment with the hygienist as I really liked her and at that moment Dr Maharaja came out and said to her reception staff that I didn't need any cleaning appointments as she didn't think I would be sticking around. I was in shock at her rudeness and I came out crying of her office. After that I went to 3 other dentists for a second opinion and each one of them was extremely surprised when I told them that my previous dentist recommended to have that tooth removed and an implant put in place. I was referred to an endodontist by one of the dentists. The endodontist was also quite perplexed at why such drastic measures were recommended by Dr Maharaja to me.

I gave her a call and she kindly pushed my appointment to 2pm because another patient had moved theirs. Once I got there I explained to her what had happened during my previous dentist visit at another practice. She was genuinely invested in our conversation and assured me I'd be taken care of. I had a couple of concerns about my insurance and she right away answered all my questions, something that my own insurance company couldn't do. Once I was called in, the dental assistant did my xrays, was extremely gentle, and made sure I was as comfortable as I could during that time. Finally meeting Dr Saad was was the icing on the cake. He is such a wondering person, funny, and caring. He made sure I was completely comfortable and made my deep cleaning feel like a breeze. This will now be my new dentist office.     I visited Ahmed Saad in mid-August to re-cement two crowns in my mouth and to place a third crown…read morelost while eating. He stated, falsely in my opinion, that the 2 crowns I gave him that had gotten unglued in my mouth could not be used, and charged me full price for three new crowns that he made in-house on his Cerek machine. The two adjacent crowns he made were so poorly made (2 millimeters gap between them) than entire chunks of food would always get lodged between them, causing pain and bleeding to this date, more than 3 months later. One of the crowns he needlessly replaced with the one he made in-house was a zirconia one that had been purposely made extremely strong to minimize wear from teeth grinding. The measurements made for the new crowns he made in-house were made by one of his staff; even though such measurements are crucial,, he didn't bother doing them himself, and the result is that he crowns he made are poor and have a bog gap between them. When I initially confronted Ahmed Saad, he dismissed me with the advice to rinse with a mouthwash he recommended. I complained to the Virignia Board that overseas dentists. Now I have to wait in bleeding pain until next January when my DeltaDental insurance resets again.
