While staying in the area, I wasn't able to get to my regular orthodontist, when a wire unexpectedly popped out. The wire wss sticking out of my mouth creating a painful situation with every bite. Fortunately, my girlfriend knew of Dr Tran who arranged to see me quickly and performed a permanent repair painlessly and in minutes. I have been searching for a dentist office so I could help me address my jaw pain. I found novel smiles on Google, and the reviews do not fail. Dr. Tran is probably by far the best dentist I have ever met. His bedside manners were so welcoming, his outgoing personality made the whole process enjoyable, and his explanations of the the x-rays/what was happening with my jaw made complete sense. He took the time to actually see what options are available in, referred me to one of his specialist to see if he could first fix my door, and then, if not, then they could collaborate together to see if I need a full mouth or a jaw reconstruction surgery. The best part was the x-ray and consultation was free! I already made an appointment to see the specialist and cannot wait to see you at work they can do together. I had a tooth-filling fall out, and my regular dentist was closed on a long weekend. I called Novel Smiles out of a recommendation from a friend who said they may be open. On a Saturday morning, the dentist called me back and spoke with me and answered the questions he could. Dr. Sbeih has been my trusted dentist for many years since we moved to the area. I have done the routine dental care, deep cleaning, cavaty fills / replacement, and wisdom teeth extraction. The way he and staff interact among themselves and with me really put me at ease. This is the only dentist office that I look forward to the next visit. Because all the horror stories I heard about wisdom teeth extraction, I had put them off the list for over 10 years! When Dr. Sbeih and Dr. J said that they can remove all 4 in one session, I was like "are you sure?". Even at the day of appointment, I said to Dr. J that let's assess the situation after we remove 2 teeth. After been given the local anesthesia, Dr. J removed 2 wisdom teeth in less than 5 min and there was no pain?! Another 5 min all 4 wisdom teeth were out. What?! The office is clean and modern. There are plenty free parking space nearby. My company changed the dental insurance this year and unfortunately Dr. Sbeih is no longer in the network. I now need to find another dentish (bleh). Should I just look for another job that offers the dental insurnace that covers Dr. Sbeih? Hope to be back again in the future. read more

Their office's hidden gem is their hygienist Marieh who IMO is hands down the best in VA. When I started seeing Marieh most of my pockets were 3s & 4s, and one 5. But with her naturally kind and friendly demeanor, Marieh patiently & meticulously cleans every tooth to perfection and explains what you need to do to improve each section. I have been following her instructions to the T (mainly brushing & flossing techniques), and after 6 months my pockets are down to 2s & 3s, with no 5s! That's big! She is a life saver and if you're looking for a hygienist, you're in luck, bc nobody'll care more about your teeth than Marieh! read more

Went for a consultation for braces for myself and my daughter. When we arrived the location was very easy to find. Showed up a day early for my appointment and still was able to be seen. That's was impressive. immediately they were able to fit me and my daughter in. Consultation was efficient and quick. The assistant and the doctor (Dr. Tran), took their time to understand my concerns. I didn't feel rushed at all. My daughter needed a tooth extraction before she can get braces. They were able to fit us right in. I like the idea of having general dentistry right there with the orthodontist. That's a HUGE benefit. The staff I worked with were extremely patient and nice. This is absolutely the best dental experience I have witnessed since moving out here almost two years ago! Everyone treated me so well. From the moment I made the appointment on the phone, it was a warm cozy feeling. I have not yet received a cleaning (as I had just recently received one from another dentist), but I went in for a teeth whitening consultation. Braces are finally off and I said "why not". Novel did not try to 'make' me purchase anything at all. They simply laid out all the details, including pros and cons of each solution and allowed me to make the best decision for me. I was able to get trays made the same day, purchase a new power toothbrush (that came in a very cute little carrying bag) and some prescription strength fluoride toothpaste (for the sensitivity that I would experience during the whitening process). Overall, the office was very clean and bright. There are televisions in the patient rooms (and YES you can control the channels AND volume). LOL I look forward to my next visit with Novel Smiles! Oh...I opted for the take home whitening only because I didn't think I could handle extreme 'zingers' on my already sensitive teeth. Great choice because I can whiten, take a day off, then whiten again. They give you your impressions so if you ever lose your trays they can easily make you another pair. Now if YOU lose your impressions...well my friends...that's another story. You may be coming out the pocket for another set. read more

5 stars all around practice! The office is super clean and comfortable. Everyone is friendly and helpful. I've never had to wait for my appointment to start - so on point! They send you email and text appointment reminders. The office is open on Saturday and Sunday! Super super convenient. I'm currently seeing Dr. Tran for Invisalign as a transfer client. He took time to explain everything and correcting a lot of things missed by the former dentist. He takes his time to check everything and ensures it's perfect. Much appreciated. Update: I've been coming here for 5 years. This is by far the best dentist and orthodontist practice I've ever experienced. Dr. Izzat and his hygienist are friendly, extremely knowledgable, and take time with you. You can tell he takes his trade seriously and enjoys what he does. Similarly, Dr. Tran is very good at what he does. My experience with him was that he worked to develop the best treatment possible while saving me from doing experience procedures. The facility is immaculate. I've never had to wait more than 5mins for my appointment which is a testament to how well the staff runs the practice. The staff are also very nice/helpful. I hate going to the dentist!!!!! I honestly do, and of all the dentist I've ever gone too, I've hated them the least. They are all such nice people everyone was really nice and extremely welcoming. When I went for the first time, it felt like I was visiting old friends. I had some concerns with my last cleaning but Dr. Izzat reached out in a timely fashion and provided solutions which I'm very satisfied with. He and his team did their best to make sure I'm happy with my experience. As other patients have mentioned, the doctors are knowledge and take time to check on you. I have very sensitive teeth, and since I started wearing braces they are more sensitive. Dr. Izzat and his assistant Rebecca are extremely friendly and did a great job making me comfortable. They took time to minimize the discomfort and relieve my stress. I appreciate the extra time they spent on my session - it was way better than I thought it would be. Teeth cleaning has always been a nightmare due to the sensitiveness I have. I was stressing myself out but Rebecca did a great job calming me down, she's so sweet yet professional. Dr. Izzat was very thorough and checks on me all the time to make sure I'm ok. He also gave me good advice on using Sensodyne toothpaste to reduce sensitiveness. They check your temperature and make you fill out that form for every visit - super annoying but I really appreciate it. I feel very comfortable even during COVID to visit their office. Last but not least, I'm doing my braces with Dr. Tran and he is great! Dr. Tran is knowledge and always makes him available for me - I broke my wires a couple times during the lock-down but he was able to fix that the next day. Highly recommended. read more

This was my first visit to Novel Smiles, and I was dreading seeing a dentist after having neglected to do so for nearly 4 years! The dentist and his support staff were highly competent and extremely positive and engaged. Specifically they took their time to inquire about my concerns and fully explain options and recommended course of treatment. Convenient hours, very comfortable chairs, feels like a spa and not a dental office. I had Dr. Sheih for my routine dental cleaning. My appointments always start on time and he does a great job explaining new techniques that he implements as well as preventative treatment on my side. They have new technology and are very good at explaining things without trying to sell you something you don't need. Having options is always a good thing. Currently, I'm doing my clear braces here with Dr. Tran (the orthodontist specialist). He's about as sharp as they come and is always looking to make sure you're comfortable, and what he can do to make that smile even more perfect. My girlfriend is getting her braces here too, and our follow up appointments are always quick and easy. And did I mention the spa feel? One time I came in for a quick check up, and they had a masseuse on hand. Free massage! Man, this is not your typical dental experience. This week was my first visit to Novel Smiles for a check up and cleaning. The experience was 5-stars from the start. I was greeted by Francesca at the front desk. She was extremely courteous and patient as I filled the first-timer paperwork and was very helpful in reaching out to my insurance to confirm my coverage. Marieh was equally impressive. She was very professional and attentive and made a point to educate me on everything that she saw which I appreciated. Marieh did wonders during the cleaning my teeth have never felt better. After reading all these positive reviews, I decided to give it a try. Initial cleaning was done well. However, their treatment plan left me puzzled. I was told 2 crowns and 7 fillings are a must to do. On top of that, wisdom tooth had to go. This didn't sound right and I went out and got second opinion from equally reputable office. As a result, I ended up with 1 crown and 4 fillings. Fillings, btw, were not that urgent. Lesson learned: If you see a big and shiny office at prime location, keep in mind someone has to pay for all these stuff... read more

I have been afraid of going to the dentist for a long time because of previous bad experience, but they have absolutely changed my opinion about going to the dentist. Have you ever left your dentist and thought, "man, i just wanna go chew on some rocks so I can come back tomorrow!"? No? Well, you haven't been to Novel Smiles. I purchased a Groupon for Invisalign, and just finished my treatment. I'm very happy with my teeth, now I can truly feel confident when talking sh*t about other people's teeth. My one stripper tooth was really holding me back from really saying what I felt about my friend's boyfriend's teeth, but now there's no stopping me. My process took about 15 months, and I only went crazy once when I couldn't make an appointment because Dr. Tran was out of town. (Dr. Tran is an endearing unicorn of a person, because he travels the world providing dental care to the less fortunate. Sometimes I suspect that he just vacations a lot, but the Ortho Without Borders thing is a great muse. I kid. I think he really does do good things... why else go to Vietnam in the summer?!) But, of course, Juan and Dr. Sbeih (aka, Dr. Wonderful, as my mother and I have deemed him) calmed me down and brought me in. They didn't even bat an eye when I apologized for acting insane on the phone. I enjoy Novel Smiles so much that I have decided to keep doing my dentistry there. I love that whomever answers the phone (whether it's a receptionist, dental assistant, or Dentist) is available and willing to answer my many questions about my insurance that I could answer myself if I would just simply look at my policy on metlife.com. But I spend my internet time doing more useful things like yelp reviews, so I appreciate it. Dr. Tran also answers my awkward questions about adult orthodontia. Like, "Dr. Tran, can I kiss boys with my invisalign trays in?" "Dr. Tran, can I kiss... other things... with my invisalign trays in?" **Note, by "answer", I mean Dr. Tran looks at me as though I'm insane and says he doesn't know. Also, this office is full of extremely attractive people. If you also like the hands of beautiful people in your mouth twice a year, go here, it's great. Dr. W talks smack about my previous dental work and tells me how beautiful my gums are. I allow him to fix the shotty dental work of my previous, less attractive dentists, and pretend that he is really referring to how beautiful he thinks my eyes are. They also have a cool set up where you can watch TV while you are being worked on. I hope you are more confident than I am, because I always choose CNN, but what I really want to watch is Keeping Up with the Kardashians, but I'm too embarrassed. All ridiculousness aside, I do truly like their work and business, and I have referred two friends already. *caveat, I had already posted a review a couple months ago, but realized I accidentally had two accounts with yelp. I've been going here since I got health insurance two years ago and everyone on staff is fantastic. The place is dolled up with modern decor, they have TV's to watch while in chair, but more importantly you feel like a person not a number. Dr. Izzat never talks down to you, remembers stories from visit to visit, and explains everything clearly and doesn't push to do more work than is needed. They are intelligent, but not snooty. Dr. Sbeih is the epitome of a great dentist. I've been to numerous dentists for general cleaning, but somehow I get these false treatment plans that aren't necessary. Dr. Sbeih is honest and trustworthy which is hard to find nowadays. I also had a big cavity on a premolar which needed a root canal!! It petrified me knowing I had to get a root canal so I needed to get a second opinion and this is when I met Dr. Sbeih. He said he would do what he can to do a filling without the root canal.
