I came in for a cleaning and the dentist told the assistant to run my xrays through AI. This immediately set off alarm bells for me, as I expect a trained dentist to be able to identify cavities with their eye and not rely on AI, which we know makes mistakes. AI said I had 4 cavities, which I thought sounded like too many because I'm diligent about my dental hygiene. But I went ahead and got two of them filled. On one of the fillings the dentist kept drilling and drilling, and despite being numbed, I could feel it. I raised my hand to say I could feel it and he just stopped and started filling it. I was like - if I hadn't raised my hand, would he have just kept going? I then had persistent pain in the tooth for a week (there was zero pain before) so I went to another dentist for a second opinion. Turns out the dentist had not adjusted the filling to my bite correctly, so the way I was biting was inflaming the nerves in my tooth. Adjusting fillings to bite is Dentistry 101, so why wasn't that done? The new dentist also said he drilled so close to my nerves that I was almost in a root canal situation. Fortunately not, but wow, that really scared me. He also said I only needed one other filling, he didn't at all see this 4th filling I was told I needed. I saw another review on here of a man who was told he needed 7 fillings and then a second opinion said he only needed 4, so this isn't a one-off instance. It seems like this place prioritizes making as much money as possible, and therefore wants to sell as many procedures as possible, regardless of negative health impacts. I was also forced to buy a $30 prescription toothpaste, what a rip-off. They also push their in-house orthodontist heavily on people. I'm happy with my teeth even though they're not perfect, so I was not thrilled about the dentist unprompted telling me all the ways I could make them better with their orthodontist. In this economy?! I'm happy I found another dentist who doesn't put money first.

In June 2018, when I called the dentist…read moreoffice ( maple dental care), I was surprised that his wife ( who was also the front desk person) told me that still owed them $204 in payment for the 2914 treatment. I told the dentist wife that I had always paid their office in full before I left their office in the past. The wife told me she made a mistake in 2014, she over estimated the insurance company payment but only charged my copayment. In the past 4 years, I have never received any bill from the maple dental care office. I was even surprised that the dentist wife told me the total cost for the 2 teeth filling was about $485. On 6/15/2018, I took leave from my job and went to the maple dental care at 2:15 pm for the 2:30 pm appointment to clear off the old fake bill and to let Dr. Vu check a metal wire he installed between my 2 teeth. To my surprise, the Maple Dental Care office was closed for the day. I had no choice to leave Dr. Vu a note on the door. I asked 2 other doctor's offices nearby, they told me that Dr. Vu's office only opens one or two days a week and they close in early afternoon. I left phone message to Dr.Vu but he never called back. Most people to have decayed teeth filled at dentist's office to expect it could last more than 5 years. Yet, my teeth filling at Dr.Vu's Maple Dental Care lasted less than 4 years.

Many times, that causes more issues. However, Dr. Hong is very honest in what he does and he refers patients to specialists when special skills are needed. Also, he is ALWAYS on time and does not delay the appointments. Most importantly, my mom and I, we are 100% satisfied with his treatments and trusts his treatment plans and his service. Although we live far away from his office, we've never thought about finding a new dentist as it is hard to find a trustful dentist! I would give 100 starts or more if I can.
