To all who would read reviews for Annadale Smiles:
I have been going to Annandale Smiles since 2013 and have had the best dental care I have ever had in my life here. I served 30 years in the Army and the dental care was adequate and free to me. Annandale Smiles is not free unfortunately, however they have great rates with the insurance plans they have made arrangements with, for those without insurance or they do not take your insurance, they have a very reasonable insurance plan which also provides great rates. My mother is on Medicare and her insurance is not one of those that Annandale Smiles utilizes, however she uses the Annandale Smiles plan and she enjoys the relationship I have with the Dr. Johnson and his staff since moving out to Northern Virginia 7 years ago. She also has severe hearing loss, even with hearing aid and cochlear implanted a year ago, she misses most words and the dentist and staff once she identified her hearing issue to them, have taken great care to let her read their lips and to talk clearly and enunciate clearly to her, when they have their mask on, they remove it to talk to her clearly so she will not miss what they are saying and they will patiently repeat it when she asks. She knows the hardship of not having hearing can be to someone and she also is President of the Northern Virginia based; Hearing Loss Connection of Northern Virginia (HLCnova) non-profit group assisting the hearing impaired in Virginia and surrounding states of Maryland and West Virginia and Washington DC district.
I recently had some more restorative work done, which required implants and crown replacements and unfortunately a few extractions due a genetic inclination to caries, was in fluoride areas of country only part of the time in my youth, and did not have the youth plastic coatings to protect myself and years of being deployed to austere areas of the globe. In-spite of my dental failings, was never a great flosser, only managed to brush and rinse when I was in close up situations with people or when I was around actual clean water facilities and actually remembered to brush and clean my teeth. "Annandale Smiles has restored my Smile!"
I have my original teeth in most places and those which are restored and implanted look like the real thing-wonderful and allow me to chew, crunch, eat what I want without pain or problems. I am grateful for that and would highly recommend anyone needing dental work of any type, whether cleanings or more-just go in, call for an appointment and I would highly recommend Jimmy the nicest friendliest, very competent and most thorough dental hygienist I have ever had and he takes great care in his work of cleaning and insuring my teeth are cleaned and evaluated for any changes. He also listens and will make sure your visit is as pain free as he can make it. I recommend asking for Nitrous if you have any pain or anxiousness about your appointment, also for any actual dental repair work as Novocaine works well, but it does not help alleviate anxiousness or nervousness, or restlessness which happens because most of us actually hate getting dental work, maybe due to poor care in the past, worrying about the unknowns with dental work, and all the horror stories we have heard or our family members and co-workers and friends and acquaintances have told us for our entire lives.
Let me re-assure you, from the Owner and Head Dentist-Dr. Johnson all the way to the entire staff. I have never had a horrible experience, I will not lie, I have had pain, but I brought the pain with me to the appointment and it of course was going to be worse during the procedure, but they did everything they could to minimize the pain to the point where I was blissfully sailing away on Gas and with the entire area of the work numbed completely out by Novocaine and repeated shots if needed and the most gentle hands and working with tools, even the x-rays which can be a bit to handle sometimes, they do their best to make the process as easy as you need and if you need to take a break, they are attentive to your needs and will watch for you to give a sign by hand or even by looking at them with a need on your mind, I swear, I think they can read my mind when I need to have small break, or a swig of water, or even if i need to use the restroom. I have never been talked rudely, I have been treated with greatest respect and they all remember me by name when I come, which makes me feel like I am in the home town I grew up in as a child, even though I am a transplant here. This dentist and his staff are special. Dr Johnson takes great pride in staying on top of latest dental processes and procedures and will refer you to extremely competent and trustworthy professionals.
I am forever grateful that I found Dr. Johnson and his staff!
I hope you find them too and have the same experience as myself and my mother!
Yours Sincerely,
