As I was reading the Michigan BrewTrail magazine I ran across their advertisement page, and was confused that it had a Grand Rapids address so It prompted me to do a little research. After a deep dive I found out that they are a farm/farmers market and a restaurant, cider/winery. If you Yelp search you won't find their restaurant, cider/winery because it pops up as Ed Dunneback and Girls Farm Market. This new Pink Barrel Cellars page should help separate this from just a farmers market, and help highlight some of their amazing food and drink. I went on their last day of live music according to their online schedule. When I showed up the parking lot was full and there was well over 100 people there. If you go inside you will immediately notice that this place is so much more than a farmers market. In the back they have a bar serving some amazing ales, seltzers, stouts, ciders, and wine by the glass. In the middle they have fresh donuts, wine by the bottle, fresh fruits and vegetables for sale. Near the front they have a food stand. All the employees were spectacular and very informative. I had many questions, and they were all very Knowledgeable. Found out they have a few beers that have won national beer awards. For lunch I wound up ordering the pretzel with beer cheese, and ordered a honeycrisp ale. The shareable size of the menu isn't joking. It's very large and you're gonna want to share. I was so full after my pretzel that I couldn't even think about a second beer. The beer cheese was the BEST beer cheese I've ever eaten in my life. It was out of this world. The beer was also pretty spectacular. The beer was so good that I couldn't resist the urge to buy some wine by the bottle with the hopes it was just as good. I enjoyed everything at their outdoor seating while listening to live music. If I had gone with someone I definitely would of taken advantage of cornhole and drank wine by the glass. After eating I couldn't resist walking around the farm that had a ton of people running and smiling. In the back I observed the piggies, Eddie and Joe, napping. They do have signs for it on the highway, however I would definitely suggest using your GPS as it is out in the country. Pulling into their parking lot, I was not expecting to see the large barns that we did but it looks pretty cool to me so I was excited. I was actually breaking one of Ben's and my rules and that is to not tour new breweries without the other one, but since ciders are mostly for me, he said it was okay for me to go with my family and he wouldn't hold it against me. LOL Inside was pretty cool looking obviously like an old barn revamped. You walk through the area where you can purchase things to go first and then the bar to order is directly in front of you. They do offer flights that are pre-arranged and you can order separate small glasses if you would like to try anything else. I do remember trying something that was not on the flight. Unfortunately, I cannot remember the name of it, but it was my favorite and of course because it was my favorite, they didn't have it to go. Story of my life. It was a super sunny day that when we were there and they have outdoor seating areas where there are some live animals wandering around and in enclosures. Looks like it could be really relaxing and fun to spend the afternoon at. I will definitely return as I have to show it to Ben so he can experience it as well and try anything new they have created.

Pux Cider has been one of my go to concert venues. I have attended countless shows here over the…read moreyears and have always had such a good time. They cultivate a very fun and comfortable environment. Despite being a small space, they manage to pack so many events and people in to be able to connect. They often have game nights with Mario Kart, MtG, and lots of live music. I don't drink alcohol so I can't speak to the ciders but I know they have a good variety for different palates. They recently added some food to the menu which I think was a fun addition. It's bar food but well priced IMO. The staff have always been soooo incredibly kind and supportive of the local community. You can tell that they really value the people who come in and make a concerted effort to get to know everyone. I have only had good experiences talking with them and they always are good to remember me and give me a warm welcome. They do have a small parking lot and there's a park across the street in case anything gets filled! I definitely recommend checking out some local music here or attending one of the collabs with the Cheese Lady next door.

The problem is top down from the General Manger, Shift Manager, and very poorly trained server. Also very average bar food for fine dining prices. When we arrived it was busy so we expected things to take a minute. However after sitting for 15 minutes we flagged down a waitress. She wasn't ours but took our order which we appreciated. Our server finally showed up. Took 5 mins to get water and another 10 to get our drink order. Then 40 mins latter still no food. The people who sat behind us arrived after us had their food and by the time we got our food they were done. All the while our server never came to our table. I flagged a busboy asked him to find our server and asked to see a manager. By this time we had already been there over an hour. The shift manager show up before our food and rather than apologize for the poor service he proceeded to tell us the excuses for why our food has taken so long. I finally got tired of his excuses I said "stop making excuses and get us our food". A few minutes later the food showed up. No silverware, salt/pepper, ketchup or drink refills. Again asked a bus person to help. Waitress never came back. After a few minutes the General Manager came out accused us of being disrespectful to his server and shift manager and proceeded to start swearing at us. We never said anything to the server and the only thing I said to the shift manager was stop making excuses and get our food. The GM again never acknowledged the poor service and accused us of swearing and being disrespectful. Never listened to us and asked us to leave. He threatened to physically remove me rather than listen to how bad the service was ‍ Incompetence at all levels. Save your time and money.
