I've been in here twice to grab some Stock Da Bar vodka, and each time the workers have been so helpful, from helping me find it to getting the bottle for me since it was too tall for me! They got me in and out both times, which I appreciated. When I came in the second time, the cashier informed me that Stock Da Bar was having a tasting soon, which was cool since I didn't know that that was happening or that they did that there! I love the fact that this is a literal corner store since the entrance is literally on a corner (if you know you know). It seems like they have a lot of variety in here as well. I'm sure whatever you're looking for, they probably have it! They do charge a 3% fee for using a credit card, so be aware of that. read more

Full disclosure- I am an alcoholic Which is why it is so rad that they have non alcoholic beer and other drinks here. In fact the NA beer collection was pretty large which is great to see. Picked up two new to me 6 packs The staff was super nice as well to some out of town visitors. Place has a huge collection of beverages and plenty of parking read more

Amazing selection. Staff were very friendly and parking was a breeze, for us. It was very late.

This is just a great liquor store! Fantastic selection and pleasant employees. Helped me find the bottles I was looking for.

Since there are options closer to my house, Smitty's is not my go-to liquor shop, but I do pop in on occasion when I'm in the neighborhood. They have a large selection of liquor, mixes, beer, wine, and some snacks and supplies. I had fun looking at all the different stuff, and saw some things I'd never seen before. The employees are all friendly and helpful, and usually ask if they can help you find anything or give recommendations. The last time we stopped in, there was a Journeyman tasting happening, which was fun. We enjoyed learning about this spot in southwest Michigan. I was impressed by the selection of bourbon and whiskey, which is what we were looking for as a gift. We ended up getting one that was specially bottled for Smitty's. If you're in the area looking for some booze, definitely stop by Smitty's. read more

Yet another great beer shop in the GR area. I stopped in here based on reviews and I was not disappointed. I was able to pick up beers off the rack that I would otherwise have to wait in line or trade for in the Detroit area. Prices also seemed to be on point. read more

Smitty's has a helpful staff and a decent liquor-centric stock. I was able to find a couple left-field items here! Dedicated parking spots - bonus! read more

This place used to be great, until they started charging over MSRP for certain bottles. Would not recommend at all. read more

In a world of big box liquor stores, it's a delight to patronize a place in the neighborhood like Smitty's. I went in with a list of ten bourbons, moderately priced. The young man who helped me knew them all, had seven in stock, two on order and one they do not carry. Considering my current wish list, he offered a couple to add for future consideration. The entire staff is courteous and extremely knowledgeable. I am happy to recommend Smitty's if you are anywhere near the East Town ar read more

You know those liquor-store employees who are so cool you wish you could take them to the party with you? Smitty's has those. It also has smokes, juices and pint bottles of hard liquor -- all you need to pregame. read more

Great selection of beer in their backroom beer cooler, including lots of local and specialty stuff. The staff was so friendly and helpful and made great suggestions. This places also has a fountain drink station, snack foods and some wine/ beer related gift items. Stopped in to get a gift for a friend on the way home. Good selection of beer and liquor. They are also happy to order something if you can't find it on the shelves. I found the staff to be pretty friendly and attentive as well. Great place to shop for craft beer or liquor in Eastown GR. read more

This is just an outstanding store. Easily one of the best in West Michigan when it comes to Micro Brew Beer and for finding spirits beyond the normal stuff most places have. Staff is super knowledgeable and friendly. It doesn't get any better than this in West Michigan read more

I agree with Kiaresh, the staff here is awesome. They always know what I want and have it on the counter before I get there to pay. Also, while their wine selection isn't great, they carry some great beers and the staff has yet to give me a bad recommendation (they know their products!) read more

Just no. Secondary prices on bourbon, no way. Glad this isn't my local liquor store. Place is clean but all the highly sought out whiskeys are way overpriced. Will stop again on my next business trip. But for now this review will stand read more

Playing my go to source for tequila and cinnamon flavored toothpicks. excellent selection

Smitty's is a decent place to pick up a six-pack when I don't feel like driving to Martha's Vineyard. They have a good selection microbrews for such a small place and score extra points for stocking Unibroue four-packs. Recently they've begun offering a wider variety of single bottles, which is a big plus. Like the other reviewers have noted, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and select a few "staff picks" in the single beer cooler. On the downside, most of Smitty's inventory is fairly overpriced. Microbrew six-packs are consistently about a dollar or two more than what you would pay at Russo's or Martha's. This wouldn't be such a problem if it wasn't for their ridiculous credit card policy. A while back these guys charged a 50 cent surcharge for every credit card transaction. This violates the service agreement that businesses sign with credit card companies, and somebody reported them for it. As a result, they put up a sign offering a 50 cent "discount" for all cash purchases. In reality they are still just adding the upcharge for credit cards and charging the normal amount for cash purchases. Look, if you're going to be complete cheapskates, please just be honest with yourselves and go to cash-only. I realize that credit card processing fees are expensive, but there are ways of dealing with this that don't include willfully deceiving your customers. On a side note, Smitty's has recently put up really tacky marble siding on the exterior of the building, over the previous wood paneling. It gives the place a weird, coked out, Vegas-y vibe that really undercuts the "local business serving the community" image they're trying to cultivate. All in all, decent inventory with helpful staff and the creeping feeling that the owners are drunk with power. read more

This shop is excellent. I go there almost every day and they have never failed to impress me. From the amazing liquor selection, to the walk in cooler you could get lost in if you didn't pay attention; this place is tops. Any question you have the staff is more than happy to answer it and have multiple times looked things up for me if they didn't know themselves. I highly recommend smitty's to anyone looking for a great experience. read more

I live in Eastown and I feel like I'm here most everyday. This is definitely the place to go to if you're going to party. Great selection, and very awesome staff. I just wouldn't recommend buying cigarettes here, because they are a tad bit more expensive than picking them up from the BP across the street. (No big deal though!) I also wish they had a better wine selection. read more

Never was particularly blown away by the place during my time working in Eastown for 6 years. Then had one of their delivery drivers almost hit me on my motorcycle when they pulled into oncoming traffic to make an illegal turn. When I honked at them, they gave me a rude gesture. To be honest, that interaction made me want to never go there again. Disregard for someone on a bike and driving in a way that could have caused some serious damage crosses a line for me. I already was hesitant to go there, this sealed it. read more

This place used to have great service. The last several times I've been in here though, the workers have been arrogant kids who think that working here entitles them to look down their noses at customers they don't think belong there. Extremely rude hipsters now run the show. Newsflash to said workers:: you operate a cash register at a liquor store, you ain't all that. read more

Absolutely the best bourbon selection in the area. Smitty actively works with distilleries to choose his own barrels for single barrel options. Nicest guy you will ever meet and the staff is awesome too! read more

I moved into the Eastown area late summer of 2008. Being a beer coinsure my second duty (after getting settled in my place) was to find a store with a great selection of craft beers and liquors. I checked Martha's, Grapevine, Rusos, Samy's and Smitty's. After evaluating these places Smitty's was my choice! Smitty's has a GREAT selection of craft beers as well as a great selection of liquors. Not only is Their current selection great they also take special requests even if they don't have room on their shelves they will stick it in the back for you(that's how great they are! :). The staff there is also wonderful and very helpful as everyone has mentioned. As far as cost of their products, I would have to disagree with JW. They are a little more expensive than say D&W or Meijers but their friendly staff and wide selection negates that. Out of the stores I evaluated Marthas was the one that actually took the cake on being pricy. I found that Marthas charged $10 - $30 more on kegs than all the other stores and a few dollars more on 6pk and 12pk beers. All said and done Smitty's will always have my business and I will continue to recommend them to all my friends! P.S. I also disagree with JW's comment on the marble they have. I would NOT say it looks tacky at all, it's very fancy and it's nice to see a small business owner putting money back into their shops instead of in their pockets!! read more
