From our favorite seasonal beers like strawberry M43s, to unique liqueurs and mixers... they either have it or can get their hands on it for you within a few days. For someone who loves hard cider, they have many options, including many Michigan options. A state with many apple orchards, their hard cider is solid. One of the best experiences at a high-quality spirits store!! Came in to town for vacation and saw the reviews and had to stop by for some whiskey. All the employees were so nice and willing to help with any questions I had. I was looking for a Michigan-based whiskey and Rishi and his team really came through!! I've been to Rishi's a handful of times but it's not conveniently located for me. That's probably a good thing, because I could find something to buy every time I stop in. I called around to a few shops in the area looking for some nonalcoholic spirits for a friend who's pregnant. Rishi's was the only place that didn't act like I was asking for a three headed monkey and said they had a few options to choose from! They had a NA gin, alcohol removed wine, some flavored NA liqueurs, and a NA tequila. Beyond that, their selection of alcohol is massively mindblowing. There is a very good chance they'll have what you're looking for, except maybe some really rare bourbons. They also have lots of mixers, cocktail items, tons of stuff I've never seen elsewhere. It's a really fun spot if you enjoy alcohol. The staff is super friendly and helpful and will ask if you need help finding anything and answer any questions you have. I love the Michigan craft beer section and the amazing wine selection. It had so many options. The staff was kind and helped me when I had some questions about the different sour ales. Let me start by saying that I'm kind of a bourbon guy. I am in a lot of liquor stores. When I say lot, I really mean a lot. Let's start with the pros. PROS. The store is beautiful. Has a large selection of everything. Beer wine liquor and more. There's probably very few things you could not find here. I happened to notice that they had several cases of 1792 bourbon including the hard to find full proof and high Rye. Like I said I've been to a lot of liquor stores I've never seen a store have this many cases. The store is well laid out easy to navigate has a large beer cooler with every imaginable I Import and micro brew. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and easy to talk to. CONS. Pricing. The beer wasn't the cheapest I've seen, a couple bucks more for everything than you'd pay for everywhere else. The liquor pricing was well above state minimum. Many liquor stores stay at or very close to state minimum pricing by the liquor control commission to stay competitive. They aren't competitive. But, I think I might know why.... Let me explain....... How does a single store (not a chain) get the opportunity to have so many cases of a bourbon that is so difficult to find? Also in the past I've heard from others that they had a large amount of cases of Colonel H Taylor bourbon last year. This is another very hard to find bourbon. This begs the question once again how does a single store obtain this when many larger chain stores cannot get even a percentage of this? Well folks, someone is in cahoots. Somebody is paying someone off to get these hard to finds. And, they need to make that money back so their pricing is inflated. For example the 1792 High Rye is set at a state minimum of $37.99. Their price was $49.99. Enough said. I won't be back and I can't recommend that you shop here either. There are too many liquor stores that price appropriately and play by the rules. Take your business elsewhere. read more

One of my favorite stores in GR. Rishi is not only a super guy, and extremely knowledgeable, but he makes sure his staff is knowledgeable as well. I have tried to stump them a few times, but have never succeeded. :) "Have you got (obscure liquor from foreign country X?" (They had it and knew exactly where it was.) "Have you got (bourbon that I knew they didn't have)?" (They knew they didn't have it without looking, and explained that the only reason they didn't have it is because it is not available in Michigan.) They were also able to explain the different kinds of Japanese sake correctly, which you won't get out of that wine warehouse up the road. Knowledge like theirs along with doing business with a customer-focused locally-owned business rather than an impersonal national chain is well worth paying a little more for, and I am very happy to do so. read more

Rishi has been a staple of this area for a long time and this newer bigger, shinier location has so much going for it it's hard to put into words. First of all is the growler refill station which is just amazing. They have 11 or 12 different brews on tap and also root beer! For people who aren't feeling awfully alcoholic :) Also as I mentioned this is a new location, and it is wildly expanded from his previous spot. Love it here! They're done with the renovation and it is now SO clean and organized and spacious! The biggest liquor store I have been to in Grand Rapids yet! And the staff is so nice and knowledgeable. When I went they had someone from Grand Armory Brewing from Grand Haven giving out free samples of their craft beer. Sweet! They have SO many craft beers that I have never even seen and you can just take one out of the case that tickles your fancy you don't have to worry about buying an entire set if you just want to try it. I have genuinely never been to a place that has more options for local beer than they do. I took some pictures of some of the beers that looked pretty good. & my favorite is they have an entire case of different shots of liquor too! They have so many options you'll most likely find a liquor you've never had as well. No joke. If you like craft beer and want to try more or just want someplace new to go for fun for your next liquor haul, they have my stamp of approval! read more

My partner and I moved from Denver over a year ago and we stumbled upon Rishi's. Our first visit told us we'd found our new adult beverage location. The "welcomes" from staff and offers to help find anything we need were genuine and sincere without being overbearing. Over the last 15 months, we've made our sole beverage stop Rishi's and continue to be impressed with the wonderful customer service. So...after 15 months...why did I just now write a review? I was in need of the Prisoner winery's Pinot Noir for a friend's 50th birthday party. I'd somehow stumped the wonderfully knowledgable staff member who'd helped me find obscure requests for more than the past year. What happened next? On a Saturday, on the owner's day off, he's calling him asking where to find my request. Rishi was on speakerphone. There wasn't any disgust. Any frustration. Any "why the hell are you calling me on my day off." When I noted he'd called Rishi on his day off, his response was, "ya, he loves when we call and ask questions to help our customers." Rishi's stocks a vast array of hard-to-find craft beers as well as numerous kegs in the coolers, if you're fortunate enough to have a tap. The wine section is expansive as well. The liquor shelves are similarly stocked with one of the best, if not the best selection in the Grand Rapids area. As any customer here knows, however, the real benefit to shopping here is the customer service. Rishi himself is extremely knowledgeable about his wares and can offer expert advice about anything in the store. He and his staff will always go out of their way to take care of their customers and really make them feel like family. They were absolutely amazing. I now live out of state but my folks still live in town. I wanted to get a nice bottle of scotch for my dad's birthday but realized I couldn't mail spirits into Michigan from my home state. So weird in a beer town like GR that when I asked locals where the one place to go to fill up the cooler before we left town was no one really had an answer. Thankfully, some kind soul at Mitten told us about Rishi's. The place is huge and the selection amazing. I was there for cider and I'm a little glad it wasn't for beer because the beer selection went on for ages. I'm not sure where you'd even begin. That's a really good problem to have. The policy here is you can grab a single of anything, so grab some empty six packs from the barrel and start mixing and matching to your hearts content. I walked out with at least 12 different ciders from at least 8 different makers that I'm not able to get over in Wisconsin. That's a really impressive and wide selection. I skipped over anything that distributes outside of MI and anything ginger, so I left plenty still on the shelves and still ended up with a haul. read more

Good lord, this place makes me wish that I lived on the west side. I have been to most of the best beer shops in the metro Detroit area and Rishi's decimates them. I am not a big wine or liquor fan, but that selection alone was impressive. However, I am big craft beer enthusiast and the selection was overwhelming. Beers that are subject to one can limits in Detroit were just sitting there by the case on pallets here. They also had a growler fill station with some harder to find beers as well. Finally, the owner was super friendly and made a point of shaking my hand thanking me for shopping there. It probably helps that I spent $70, but still I appreciated the sentiment. First time walking in this store I was amazed to say the least. The store is huge with so many choices of whatever you are looking for from beer to wines to alcohol. I didn't know where to start. This place is easily the best place for alcohol on the east side of the Grand Rapids. I've seen, met, or spoken with the owner, probably 90% of the times I've been there. They have a personal touch that's beyond the norm.
