Squibb is a very cute local coffeeshop and wine bar. I've only really come to Squibb for the matcha during the day but it's been quite nice! It's right around a ton of other shops, restaurants, and things to do so it's a great spot to stop on a walk or on a day out. My run club Lyon Street Run club recently met here and it's been great. The wall art is really nice and the staff is incredibly friendly. There is not a TON of seating, making it more intimate, but also makes it great for a quick to-go drink from a local business. read more

I'm a bit torn with with first experience with this cute little coffee and wine shop and maybe it just had to do with our barista having not the best day, but the customer service was not negative but unengaging or helpful. Coffee and wine - sign me up! The list of coffee is far larger than the wine list (though they do also have beers), but there's plenty of choices to appease anyone. We ordered a meat and cheese board which was good, but we wish we could have had choices to pick or at least know the cheeses and meat we were ordering. One of the cheeses was just meh, but the hard cheese we had was fantastic. The crispy bread was also fantastic! It's served warm and you receive a healthy amount of bread to fit the board. A slight negative is the bread arrived about 5 minutes before the rest of the board. Would have been nice to receive both at the same time to better enjoy the warm bread. There's plenty of seating inside, however, it's mostly geared towards smaller groups (1-2 people) with only 1 large table. There were lots of people working on laptops and it was a quiet vibe perfect for working; however, it didn't really leave room for a party of 3 because the large table was taken by a group of 2. We sat outside at their small patio. Careful when you sit - the metal chairs soak up the sun! Overall, it's a nice place. I would consider going back, but it's not on the top of my list. read more

I absolutely love the Squibb location on Wealthy St. They have the best pour-over coffee and their toast never disappoints. This was a rosemary goat cheese toast topped with prosciutto, almonds, and honey. There wasn't much rosemary flavor but it had that distinct goat cheese mouthfeel. The honey and prosciutto balanced it nicely between sweet and salty. And as always the bread was perfect- crunchy, flavorful, and fresh. read more

Visiting Grand Rapids for five weeks, I asked my sister, who lives here, for the best coffee shop in the city that's not Madcap (if you like more acidic coffee, Madcap is your spot). She led me to Squibb Coffee along Wealthy Street. The coffee shop itself is in a large, well-decorated space with tables throughout and window seating. The barista is attentive and guides you through the menu. I ordered a hot latte with house made cardamom syrup. Despite having syrup in it, the quality of the coffee overpowered it. It was excellent! There's free wifi and enough outlets throughout to work for a few hours. Street parking in front of the shop is easy to find and cheap. Within walking distance are top-rated restaurants like the Electric Cheetah. read more

My first time trying this place out and I was pleasantly surprised!! I just want to dive right into how amazing the various toast options were!! HOLY YUM. If you are going to Squibb, you MUST try one of their toast concoctions!! My husband and I got the Rosemary and Goat toast and the ham and cheese toast. Both were completely different, but equally amazing. Literally, some of the best toast I have ever had in my entire life!! The reason I'm giving it a 4 star review and not a 5 star review... it took almost 30 minutes to get our toast. That was just a really long time to wait for toast... granted, we weren't upset at all... because we were just there relaxing with friends. But a fair warning to people who don't have a lot of time on their hands. Can't wait to go back and eat more toast some day!! :) read more

Squibb is one of Grand Rapids' underrated coffee spots. Always a seat open, unlike smaller shops around town - lots of light, and really good toasts! Their avocado toast is thick and hearty and actually fills you up. Their lattes are consistently good and the octopus on the big wall is just wonderfully weird. My only reason for not giving that 5th star is service. The baristas are sometimes slow to acknowledge customers (even if they're busy with other drinks, a "hi" would be nice), and I make it a personal goal to try and make someone smile. It's not always the easiest. Still, I'd come here any day. Squibb is solid in my book! read more

I ordered a special coffee they had that was with chocolate and honey - it was unique and a nice break from my usual cafe miel (also delicious). Probably one of my favorite coffee shops in Grand Rapids. I recommend this place as a meet up spot for my friend and I to get together and chat! In my opinion Squibb is always a good choice! This is one of several coffee shops on Wealthy, but is one of our faves. It has a clean modern interior & they serve wine/beer besides the usual coffee and tea selections. We chose this one today because the other one nearby required masks no matter what. We're vaccinated & most places allow maskless customers. Not a big deal for us, but still was a bit of a turn off. We ordered just coffee and tea this trip. Service was helpful, friendly and prompt, which we appreciated. My wife especially liked her cardamom latte, which she got rather than the usual mocha but they were out of chocolate (what??). It's a pleasant place so we will come back. read more

Squibb is one of Grand Rapids' newest coffee bars located on Wealthy Street. I stopped in on a Sunday afternoon to do a little work and have a beverage. I had one of the monthly features, a cinnamon plum tea latte. I wasn't really sure what to expect but it was great. The flavors were really subtle and lightly floral. My boyfriend had a pour over coffee that he said was pretty good. They also have a selection of bottled and canned drinks in a cooler, as well as a few types of pastries. As far as I am aware, they do not roast their own coffee, if that is important to you. The space inside is not super cozy (it has a similar feel to that of MadCap downtown) but there is a big squid mural on the wall that is really fun. The area is pretty small, I would guess it seats maybe 25. Prices were average for this type of shop; I think my latte was about $4 and the pour over was around $3. I read online that Squibb is going to be expanding into wine & cheese at some point, so I definitely will be back to check that out. While I was there, the clientele was much less hipster than I would have expected. It was mostly a lot of older people who didn't know about pour over coffee. If you like the vibe of MadCap but don't want to deal with downtown parking, check out Squibb! If you like a cozier place like Sparrows, I might skip it. However, if you're going to offer a $16 cheese/meat plate, especially when all other food options were crossed off the menu and apparently unavailable six hours before you close, please take the time to educate your staff on the cheese and meat selection you have available. Also, WEAR GLOVES when handling the food. Watching the barista slice a sample of the cheese with his bare hands and then offer it up to the customer pinched between his bare fingers decorated with chipping nail polish pretty much killed my appetite. Definitely walked in here because i thought the name came from Harry Potter lol (anyone else?) I'm conflicted. I ordered a seasonal small latte with coconut milk, so the cup was like 12 oz. When I received my drink only half the cup was filled. However, whatever was in there was the most delicious latte I've ever had. Like, it was creamy and buttery and smooth and literally perfect. Not overly sugary or milky. I forgot a latte could be so good. I would definitely come back next time I'm in GR but I really hope that's not what their portions are normally like. read more

A newer coffee shop in town and good addition to its neighborhood! I enjoy the space in how it is nice and bright and feels very open and flowing of positive creative energy. I usually just go for pour overs at coffee shops so I cannot speak on the fun drink concoctions but they do always seem to have some fun interestingly delicious sounding specials on the menu! I like sitting in the window or at the bar - pro tip- there are outlets to plug into under the bar that you can use. Just ask a worker beforehand and not just reach over the counter. One thing I think that is an issue is that it always feels super warm in the shop. I am usually a cold person and even to me it is pretty toasty inside. read more

I have driven past this spot numerous times and was curious to check it out. My girlfriend and l stopped in to catch up. She had a coffee, l had a great glass of white wine recommended by the bar tender as they did not carry sauv blanc (my preference). Great recommendation! There's the bar area, also stools facing the big front windows with a long, bar top "table" running the length of those windows. Only a few tables and one or two "lounge area", that made u feel like you were at in someone's living room. Very cozy place, soft back ground music, modern decor. I tried one of the green tea specialty lattes, and it was very well done: I could taste both the tea and the house-made rosewater syrup, it wasn't too sweet, and the foam was smooth and even. The space is clean and minimalist, with a surprisingly spacious feel for a small location. There are plenty of seats in a variety of configurations- single bar seats, group high-tops, small tables. Things to rate a coffee shop on: coffee, aesthetic, staff, wifi, amount of outlets. Squibb's aesthetic and staff are great, and they have outlets at almost ever seat but the coffee is hit or miss (depending on the barista making it) and their wifi is almost ALWAYS down. Love the vibe and location of this cafe, but you can not be considered a good cafe without consistently good coffee and a good wifi connection for your customers. 3/5 read more
