We both wanted to take country dance classes but didn't like that our only option was a bar. When we tripped across Studio 22, this is exactly what we'd hoped for. This event was organized and well planned with professional instructors who were patient and kind. Studio 22 made it fun, not intimidating. The ratio of guests balanced itself out. They encourage frequent rotation of partners (if you go as a couple, that's okay too), no one person was without a partner for too long. There was a wide range of dance lessons, not just country. The studio itself was very spacious, large enough to hold 50 - 80 people comfortably. There are dozens of four top tables along the wall, no reservations, you have to grab one asap. You are allowed to bring your own water bottles (BYOB). They kept the temperature very comfortable, impressive! Dress code is casual attire, something easy to move in, and shoes you can easily shuffle in. There is a fantastic YELP coupon when you check in: 1 Free Group Lesson. They give incentives to people for their 5 star reviews. Dont be fooled. Passive-aggressive, manipulation, lies, aggressiveness, and microagressions, they've got it all. It seems most classes have a virtual option too. Met the owner when I arrived. She was really nice and showed me around. There are several studios and lockers for your belongings. The studio we were in for the class was really chill. Not what I expected. The lighting was dim with blue and yellow tones. I didn't feel as nervous after entering the room and not feeling fully on display. The Nia class was 30 minutes and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I will most likely look at the calendar and pick some other classes here and there. I notice they do Pilates, yoga and things like that too. Lots of options!

Jay somehow combines great humor and charisma with outstanding musical and footwork instruction to make every class a blast. In my very first class, I learned an entire routine to a song I had never heard before in ONLY 2 HOURS. (And I suck at learning in group sessions!) He also changes it up each week to accomodate the more advanced students as well. A nice side effect of Jay's classes are that you get to learn in a fun, safe, relaxed environment, and that has really helped me come out of my shell and feel more confident - not only on the dance floor, but in real life as well.
