This is a little kiosk type place in the Asbury Park "hall". The guys were friendly, the coffee was really good and it was priced like any fancy coffee place: $4.25 for a large iced coffee with a shot of espresso. They had a few pastries available and no place to sit down, but the beach is literally right outside their doors. Overall probably the best and only place to get a quality coffee on the boardwalk.

My husband and I are coffee snobs. I don't know when t happened, it just did. We can't get our coffee from a deli, a cart, or Dublin donuts. We like coffee that tastes good! It tastes so good no sugar or milk is even needed (rather an occasional treat). This place has that coffee! It's no frills when you walk in. Don't come in her looking for double whipped, unicorn anything! The coffee is a standalone success. Each year when we visit Asbury Park, we stop here. We usually grab a cold brew to wash down our Purple Glaze Donuts and buy a bag or two or 3 to take home and make our own cold brew. The people here know what they're talking about. If you're looking to upgrade your at home stash, they're super friendly and knowledgeable! Let them know what you're looking for. I wish I had a place like this near me.

Cappuccino, one shot expresso, with a little raw sugar

I could smell it a block down the boardwalk: fresh brewed coffee! You can get 1,2 or 3 shots expresso. My 1 shot cappuccino was just perfect; hot and rich. I've been here 2 mornings in a row (vacationing in the area) following my early morning boardwalk "walk." Love the location because it's on the water, under a large archway out of the sun, breezy and near other shops. We finished our last sips while taking in the fabulous wall art along the boardwalk just outside. Served in paper cups (and for eco-reasons, straws are discouraged for cold beverages). Lovely way to start another gorgeous day at the Jersey Shore.

Coffee was very good by the cup. But when we went there on the weekend the girl working there was incabable of selling a 1/2 pound of the bulk coffee. Couldn't figure her out... It is not rocket science. They have bulk coffee. Gem for grabbing a coffee in the area though. Not much parking-which is all street parking. I dropped the stars down due to the lame service...however, the coffee was top notch. so I would go back for it!

Terrible soup. Ordered cappuccino and they gave me espresso shot with milk. No foam. Not recommended. On the photo you can see latte and cappuccino. Enjoy

The quality of coffees and teas is Starbucks quality (for me Starbucks sets the quality of high standard), but the prices are more reasonable. The menu is large enough to pick anything for your taste. I tried their ice coffee and hot tea. Iced coffee tasted freshly brewed and hot tea was made from loose leave tea and had a great taste. I love that they have umbrellas for the benches in front of the cafe even tough it's inside convention center. It creates a uniques outdoor ambiance while enjoying the cool air inside.

Make sure you're wearing your raincoat -- you will get sprayed by pumping milk from the gallons. Thermos might be a better choice and will keep the milk colder longer instead of having the gallon of milk sit out on the counter.

Gone in 3 minutes flat!

A friend recently bought me the dark roast and a light roast from AP roastery and I was really impressed with both.

There's plenty of indoor seating, and the outdoor seating area is spacious and really elevates the whole atmosphere in the warm weather. The baristas are consistently kind, quick, and talented, and the drinks come out perfect every single time. I'm a huge local coffee shop fan, and not every shop nails consistency, but Black River Roasters has gotten it right without fail since the day they opened. I've been coming here since they first opened their doors, and their coffee is still tough to beat. Truly some of the best coffee I've ever had!

First impressions: wow, this place is huge for a coffee shop. Black River roasts their own coffee beans in house, which is always nice and means you're getting some high quality caffeine. Seasonal flavors included pumpkin, bourbon maple, and apple cinnamon -- so you already know you're getting quality, since these aren't flavors you can get just anywhere. I loved the signage depicting staff favorite drink mixes as it adds a fun touch to the menu! Coffee was great, my only complaint is that with syrups the drink can get way too sweet (especially since I typically drink unsweetened coffee.) Make sure to ask for less syrup and you'll be good to go! Can't wait to return!

The building itself looks almost like an old diner--long and brightly colored. Inside is more of the same. There are a couple of round tables with diner-esque stools and a few chairs randomly placed in the center of the seating area. All of it contributes to a kind of endearing quality of the place. I was greeted with a friendly smile by who I believe is the owner. I opted for a small coffee and a biscotti, as I wanted something that wasn't too sweet. The coffee is self-serve, which I'm not a huge fan of as sometimes they aren't as fresh, but management seems to take care of this. My orange almond biscotti, while I was happy to be able to taste the hints of orange, was stale. Prices were fair, as my coffee and the biscotti were each $2. It's a bit chilly in the cafe and a little loud with the music but I was still able to get some work done. If it were a bit closer to home, I think I would frequent this cafe a little more, but I wish the owner all the success!
