Oh man. I have never left a negative review in my life because of the repercussions of a bad experience that could have been an anomaly, and what that can do to a restaurant's business. But this deserves it. We had a group of 4 adults, and 2 kids. One lady who is 9 months pregnant. We were there 2 hours and 35 minutes. It took 30 minutes for the waitress to take our order. By the time she did that all of our drinks were empty. When I finally asked for my son's apple juice to be refilled she rolled her eyes and acted like that request was ridiculous. Let's fast forward 45 minutes. We got our edamame and gyoza. Both were cold. 10 minutes after that a single side salad comes out. Another 15 minutes goes by and then a single bowl of ramen comes out with my son's kids order of hibachi. Still no drink refills. My wife asked for another beer. Got another eye roll. Let's fast forward all the way to 2:10 minutes into the experience. We have none of our other 4 orders. The table behind us was seated, served, paid, and then seated and served all over again. At this point we finally had hit the limit of our patience. After all we'd seen no less than 20 to-go orders roll out of the kitchen in the time we were there. We ask where our food is. She said it's going to be 10 more minutes, and she was waiting on the sushi. We literally started a timer on the phone. 23 minutes later the food comes out in a to-go bag. No acknowledgment from management, no apology from the waitress. No explanation. Then has the nerve to hand me the $175.00 bill. I'm not complaining about the amount. I have no issue paying that for a good meal. But I've literally been sitting here for 30 minutes why I just donated a damn dollar to that establishment. I feel like I've made the world a lesser place for continuing to provide an avenue for other people to experience the same crap we just went through. read more

Did not like the iceburg lettuce under the seaweed salad & squid salad it's not necessary. I ended up waiting another 7-9 mins until he came back and then he asked the couple behind me if they needed anything, they asked to be seated and they were then seated immediately. I decided to give Asaka a try for my birthday dinner with family after reading the good reviews. It was very disappointing and wish we would have traveled to DFW for a real hibachi experience. The hibachi did have a nice appearance but definitely the most bland I have ever eaten. I had to add a lot of soy sauce to make it edible. Several of my children ordered udon noodles and they were very bland as well. The fried rice tasted rancid and did not seem to be cooked fresh. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice but the waitress was very unprofessional, not friendly and poor service. My husband has a shellfish allergy and I was asking her a question regarding something on his plate and she was very rude about it. Overpriced for the quality of food received. FISH ALLERGY ALERT!!! Although the menu lists "Crab or Crabmeat" on certain items, IT IS KRAB meat, which is an imitation crab meat that is made with various types of FISH.....and to a person with fish allergies, that misrepresentation could have deadly consequences. My Rainbow Roll was warm when served, the sushi rice had a mealy texture and the salmon, white fish and tuna were far from fresh. Miso soup is usually a good litmus test for a sushi restaurant, so we should have known to leave after the soup was served. It was obviously made from a powdered concentrate and was just terrible. Not only did the "manager on duty" refuse to take the Rainbow Roll off of our bill, she was going to have the server pay for it out of her pocket if we refused to pay! A TERRIBLE BUSINESS PRACTICE and a RED FLAG FOR ALL CUSTOMERS CONSIDERING EATING THERE. The actual owners/manager was called and they acquiesced to removing the charge from our bill and not forcing the server to pay. Our server however was wonderful. She was very kind and understanding and the "manager on duty" should take a play from her book. read more

Cleburne desperately needs some good places to eat that aren't chain restaurants! We've been here twice, the first time we came it was great! Outstanding service and fantastic food. Second time, not so much! Our waitress was horrible, most of the time she was MIA. She brought our salad and soup AFTER she brought our meals only because we said something. We ordered the filet mignon, one of ours was rare, no it was blue rare. After waiving down a different waitress, the manager came over and offered to remake the steak and threw in a fried ice cream. I have to say after the service then the raw steak, the ice cream didn't really matter at that point. Cleburne is a tough crowd, if they don't get it together they'll be another one of the several places to close here. It's sad because this place can be so good. read more

The Spring rolls had good flavor but were too greasy and could have cooked a wee bit longer. We shared the hibachi filet. Steak was a bit over cooked but good flavor. The mushrooms were good, veg was laced with a bit too much sauce, but had a good texture. The fried rice was simple and underwhelming. It's nice to have for Cleburne, but not worth a drive to visit. First time here while visiting the in-laws and had an okay experience. I ordered the pork katsu...which didn't come out until the rest of the party were done with their meals. Apparently there was a new chef and didn't make it right and had to remake it. It came out when they brought everyone's dessert out. Finally time to enjoy the pork katsu. The server brought it out with white rice, but the menu clearly says it come with fried rice. I asked the server and she said it comes with white rice, but she'll go ahead and "give" me fried rice. To review the pork katsu...it was good, nice and crispy. Not impressed with the katsu sauce sauce. Being half Japanese, I'm used to the thick almost BBQ sauce type consistency sauce. Their katsu sauce tasted exactly like tempura sauce, thin and watery. The server was nice and the in-laws like it. Everyone else's food came out quickly and looked great. My experience is probably atypical and would be willing to try again. I'm sure I'll be back at some point when we visit again. read more

Rarely do I give a perfect rating but I really did like this place. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was how perfectly clean it was! The floors, the booths, the bar... all of it was spotless. Everything had a place. Zero clutter. The food was really good, too. They have an ENORMOUS sushi/sashimi roll menu and the rolls are quite lovely! My son had a trio of California roll, salmon roll and tuna roll. I had the tempura veggies. Both meals came with a salad and miso soup. The soup was REALLY packed with flavors. We shared an appetizer of monkey brains (which was deep fried Avocado with crab on top and eel sauce). It was quite tasty and a very attractive appetizer. The location is in a strip shopping center (with the Wing Stop and CiCi's Pizza) but once you walk in, you'll appreciate the elegance. It's a little pricey but they give you A LOT of food. Would make for a great date night. read more

I've been coming to Cleburne several times a year for the past twenty years, and the search for good restaurants has been a bit unicorn-y. I can honestly say that there was one--count 'em, ONE--that I would label "good", and it did not survive Covid. RIP Caddo Grill. But apparently, it's a new day. Asaka Sushi is hands-down tied for the best dining experience I've had in this town in 20 years. And it's only a tie because Asaka doesn't have a liquor license--only beer and wine. I hope eventually that gets fixed. The nigiri is perfectly executed. (Well, the rice could be a bit more tightly packed, but I'm picking nits here.) My partner had the Hibachi steak and scallops with the obligatory teriyaki-based sauce and it was lovely. The scallops could have been taken off a minute earlier, but again--nits. The steak was brilliant. Full stop. I'm always a bit cautious about ordering a chef's choice sushi combo, but I opted for the Sushi Deluxe--a 10-piece nigiri and a simple tuna roll. The chef's choice was fantastic--two pieces each of maguro, sake, shiro maguro, hamachi, and red snapper (not sure which version). The roll was fine, if just a bit boring. Maybe an option for a spicy tuna roll? But the takeaway here is a quality sushi joint in Cleburne. I can't believe I just wrote that sentence. And I'm delighted. I will be here at least once per visit. I really hope the community will support this place, and I'm cautiously optimistic because the place was quite busy when we went. Well done.
