Come here for the best Asian Fruit Cakes!! Growing up we always have fruit cakes and my whole family goes to them for any celebrations and even wedding cakes! The cake is perfectly moist. The whipped cream is the perfect amount of sweetness. The cake is light and delicious. The pricing is great too!! Very friendly family and gives you the best customer service! I would highly recommend!

From the outside, Asahi Bakery looks unassuming and you can easily walk/drive right past without noticing. Head inside and a while world of Asian pastries and goodies await. I love their cappuccino cake. Make sure to order ahead as they might not have this flavor available for purchase at all times. The owners are super sweet (no pun intended!) and it's been a pleasure getting to know them. The only reason my review is not 5 stars is because the fruit on some of the cakes were not that fresh and the cream frosting on the ready made cakes can be a bit stale depending on how long they have been in the refrigerated case. Since this bakery is a family owned business they can have limited hours, so be sure to double-check when they are open.

My sister and I decided to come here on a whim! I'm really glad we did, as this place is a hidden gem! The owners are nice, and the desserts are really good! I'm especially a big fan of the coffee jello!

Stopped at this place to check and see for the first time, we got a box of almond cookies and one slice of baked cheesecake. Both were very disappointing and bland with zero flavor. I'm thinking their main item here are cakes as we noticed hardly any baked goods for sale but about a dozen cakes in various different sizes. I might try them again for a cake at some point but not a good bakery for any other type of baked goods.

This place is so good!!! We get the macrons which are coconut filled collate like balls. They are delicious: the cakes also look so good.

I have lived in the neighborhood for over 5 years now and regret not giving this bakery more business than I should. It's unique for the area because they are an Asian bakery. Asian cakes are predominantly sponge cake, resulting in a lighter airier tasting dessert. They also tend to use either butter cream or whipped cream (Asahi uses whipped cream) which I very much prefer over sugar frosting. Sugar frosting literally makes my teeth cringe and hurt just from thinking about it. It also screams, pls inject me with DMII, but I digress. Recently had the pleasure of swinging in to pick up a treat for the foster department staff at Arizona Animal Welfare League, where I foster and volunteer at (shameless plug, pls consider fostering to help save small lil furry lives). Did not want to be boring or cliche by bringing in donuts, cookies from costco, cake from a Fry's or something generic. So after a lil brainstorming, Asahi came to mind. Picked up these cute fruit cake mini rolls. Perfect for a light lil afternoon treat. I've had the pleasure of trying their actual whole fruit cake in the past and it's delightful. I'm definitely making a better effort and giving this place more of my business. The owner and staff are also so kind and grateful for every customer.

There are tables inside the restaurant and outside of the restaurant. While it was hot outside (in the 90s) the shade and wind made it extremely comfortable to sit outside. The bakery itself was extremely cute and new bakery items were consistently being brought out and restocked. I came with my (extremely picky) mom and she really enjoyed Paris Rendez-Vous. We both got the Ham and Cheese Croissant to stay, it had bechemal sauce inside of the sandwhich adding a nice creaminess. The to stay dish does cost a few dollars more than the to go dish. This is because you are served and also it comes with a light salad with Italian dressing. The salad was a nice addition to the sandwhich, it added the perfect amount of freshness. My mom got an apricot cheese danish to go, and she wishes she would have grabbed 3 more, she is insistent that they are the best vanishes that she has ever had in Arizona...so I would recommend checking that out. Overall it was a nice and quiet brunch spot, that I would definitely classify as a hidden gem in Scottsdale. I recommend checking it out.

This is my 3rd time going, and it's better every time, definitely the best bakery in AZ. I know…read morethey get a lot of heat about the price of each of the pastries but it's worth every penny. I love how they collaborate with local businesses and bring unique flavors to their pastries. I normally get their weekend specials which change every weekend. My favorite so far has been this past week which was the guava cheesecake cruffin. As someone with Cuban parents who lived in Miami for years, this tasted like home in the best way. I'm sad it's only a one-time deal; otherwise, I'd be there every weekend to get one, and I'd be as big as a house haha. I simply can't say enough good things about this place, my only complaint was that the first time I went they put my cruffin (not in photo) in a paper bag so all the filling ran out on the paper bag so super messy and it was so hard to eat, I would assume they ran out of boxes that day but they should have mentioned that before I got one otherwise I would have eaten it there. Other than that service was great and super friendly The parking lot is small for the shopping center depending on the time of day you go so you just need to circle for a spot.

The first few times we came here about three or four years ago. It was phenomenal. Fabulous…read moreservice, fabulous pastries, and reasonable wait times. Nice ambience with ample seating. Over the last year, the service and quality have gone downhill. This location is NOT set up to accommodate a rush / long line. The staff asks what you want at the refrigerator case, not giving you time to look at the entire selection available in the cases after that. The eclairs are delicious. The chocolate croissants are good. The almond croissants don't taste like almond at all. The quiches are so so. We got the apricot special and the fluffy apricot topping tasted off to me so I didn't eat the rest of it. All the other things that we've had there are just mediocre and nothing really special to warrant the high prices. The service people at this location need to take a lesson in hospitality and courtesy. They all exude the attitude that they can't be bothered to answer any questions. And they rush you through the line. Every time we come to JL we eat inside and never want our food to be boxed up. However, the default is to just box everything up. When we tell them that we are actually eating inside and would like things warmed up they roll their eyes at us or give us attitude like they couldn't be bothered. The last six times we have been there they have been out of Babka. This is not sold during the week and only on Saturdays and Sundays. They say that it is a specialty item and they sell other specialty items on Fridays, but for some reason, not the babka. And it's not able to be ordered online. After six times of going and not having it available, and with The attitude of the staff working here, we've decided to not come back to this location. I just find a different pastry shop to go to in Phoenix. It's highly overpriced for what you get. Many of the items are overly sweet and are starting to taste mass produced. Also The cloth chair cushions in the corner are absolutely filthy and that whole surrounding area is full of crumbs. I almost took a picture of it when we were in there, but did not. The little tables provided for that area were both wobbly.
