Our office held a retirement party at Asada's, and we were very happy with the service provided by Jocelyn and Diany. There were about 50 of us, and they did an excellent job keeping up with everyone's drink orders throughout the party. Jocelyn and Diany were attentive, friendly, and organized, and made sure our large group was well taken care of. The appetizers were very good, and the stage provided the perfect setup for our live music. We went to Asadas to check out their all-you-can-eat weekend brunch after hearing about it, but honestly weren't sure what to expect -- and really enjoyed it! Jocelyn was such a friendly and helpful waitress. She gave us great recommendations for the divorciados rancheros and chilaquiles, and even accommodated our request for extra-crispy waffles. The buffet meats were all delicious, but the ceviche alone was worth the visit. The shrimp with the crunchy chips was OUTSTANDING, and we also really loved the enchiladas and carnitas. My first food stop in Austin and I was very excited to try tex mex in Texas. The marg was a great choice and was brought out very quickly. I sat in the outside area and there was a nice little porched in seating which had a nice vibe and view. My quesadilla was good but nothing anything crazy very standard for a place like this. I wanted chimichungas I decided to try Asadas for lunch. I was greeted when I walked in and asked to sit on the patio since the weather was so nice. I started off with a water and later ordered a sprite. My waitress was kind but didn't seem knowledgeable about the menu. I asked for recommendations and got nothing. Most of the dishes on the menu I've never seen before. I am open to trying things so it was no big deal. The waitress seemed annoyed that I didn't know what I wanted. Ma'am, that's why I asked for recommendations. I eventually ordered the tampiquena! Chips and salsa- don't waste your time. The chips and salsa are both BLAND ! I didn't know that could even happen, but apparently it can. The tampiquena includes a steak, enchiladas, black beans, guac, monduros, and fries. I wish I would've asked for rice instead of fries, but idk if that was an option. The steak started off great. Halfway through the seasoning was gone. My steak was partially seasoned. The enchiladas didn't seem like enchiladas at all, they barely had cheese. My guac and black beans were fine. The monduros was very good and cooked well. We went out on an impromptu dinner date and this place was great! They have a huge back patio and there was love music, so that was cool. All entrees come with the salad bar! That included: salad, fruit, veggies, charcuterie, rice, beans, and bunch of other stuff. We thought that was pretty cool. Honestly, you can get a lot of food for a pretty decent price. We ordered esquites appetizer and it was delicious. For my entree I ordered Huachinango Zarandeado (snapper). It had a lot of flavor, filling but light at the same time. I honestly forget what type of fish my wife had, but her plate was good as well. The service was friendly and the timing of the dishes was good. I brought my mom and she had the strawberry margarita and she gave it a 10/10 as well! I think long and hard before writing a lower star review. I try to give the benefit of the doubt and that they could be having an off day but there was too much wrong with this experience to let it go and we certainly wouldn't go back to try again. The reason for 2 stars and not just 1, is because the server was sweet and attentive. Pros: - Huge patio and outdoor space - Thick warm chips (for salsa) - nice server Cons: - No red (regular) salsa. They were all heavy and either mayo or oil based. I've never seen a place with 6 different salsas and no regular red salsa. So weird. - They were literally out of everything we wanted to eat. Like six different items we asked about, both from the appetizers and the mains, were out. - Their flour tortillas are 100% store bought and were not the tasty kind. - pico de gallo was spoiled! I didn't even have anywhere to spit it out because we didn't get plates, just the platter of fajitas in front it me. - Beef fajitas were tender and seemed like quality meat BUT had no fajita flavor. It was a piece of sliced beef with no discerning seasoning. (Pair that with spoiled pico, no real salsa, and not great tortillas and you no longer have a fajita!) It was $31 too! - kids menu didn't exist but she told us the 3 options (chicken strips, fries, cheese quesadilla or macaroni and cheese)! We ordered a kid cheese quesadilla and asked if meat could be added. The cheese quesadilla was $6.99 and then they charged another $5 to put a few cubes of meat in it. - The rice and beans were among the worst I've ever tasted. Completely flavorless rice and the refried black beans lacked seasoning of any kind. I hate writing this review. I hate that we just spent $117 at this place and left feeling like we should have driven the extra 6 minutes and gone to Chuys but we would have never known if it was good or not if we didn't try. They seem to have a nice spread for Saturday and Sunday brunch and we commented among ourselves that we should return to try it but after eating today's food we wouldn't. It's 2025 and given how pricey their food is, to charge a 3% fee to pay with a credit card seems absurd. We would not have known if we hadn't asked for the receipt. I hate giving shitty reviews. Place is large to hold a large party and has a decent size patio with plenty of parking. All of the entrees come with the small salad bar and chips and salsa. Our server was great but the first 4 items we ordered they were out of. The next 2 items my husband ordered the server said there was dairy in it and he is lactose intolerant. We settled on tacos. He got the carnitas. They were super greasy. I got the pastor tacos, my meat was dry and that one dime sized tease of the pineapple purée is not nearly enough to wash down the tacos. My cucumber margarita was good but the Mexican martini my husband ordered was definitely not like any Mexican martini we've had in the past. It's like it had margarita mix in it. We did not finish it. 2 taco plates, and 2 drinks were $70 and not worth the price. read more

Before going here, one should review their menu online. I did not expecting to get common Mexican food such as beef tacos, enchiladas, and a basket of chips with salsa. No such luck. My review is mostly about the food, but here is a little about the place. It was clean. The staff was friendly, service was prompt. There is an outdoor section with live music (where most of the patrons were). Restroom were tidy. I ordered the chicken fajitas. The meal came with chips and salsa, refried black beans, and Mexican rice. The chips were marginal, no real flavor, no salt. The appear to be left over tortillas cut into quarters and fried. The brought out a small bowl which I ate. Later they brought more, but I passed on them. Note, when a fat man passes on the chips and salsa, well, they are not adding to the eating experience. The salsa was runny and bland, easily dripping of the chips. Not an impressive start. The refried bean were not nasty, they just were not good. Two or three bites and I was done with them. I would suggest Bush's Refried Black Beans in the can as an upgrade. The Mexican rice was soggy with no flavor. If someone was to put it in another's mouth with out them seeing it, they would not be able to guess it was Mexican food or even that it was rice. It was poor quality. The chicken fajitas were good. Lots of food on the plate. I would have preferred that onions were cooked a little longer, and that there was more spice with the dish, but that's a personal preference. I enjoyed every bite of the fajitas. Reading other reviews, a salad bar is mentioned. That information was not given. There was a good crowd there, so something must be good. I'm not going back. Worst restaurant I've ever been to. It started off badly with a dirty, stagnant pond water at the entrance. When we walked in, the place felt empty. The staff didn't know what beers were on draft. They had to come back multiple times just to tell us they didn't have what we ordered. The chips were hard and salsa was bland and so watery it was like soup. We were told the salad bar was included, but everything looked wilted like it had been sitting out all day. Definitely didn't feel safe to eat. They also mentioned pozole, but then said they didn't actually have any. When the food finally came, it was cold and poorly prepared. The lengua was chopped and cold instead of properly cooked and shredded like it usually is. The carnitas were just thrown on a plate with limp radishes and looked unappetizing. Was expecting onions and cilantro. To top it off, there were people hanging around outside with a shopping cart and graffiti near building. Overall, a really unpleasant experience. read more

Such a hidden gem!! Honest review - when this spot first opened we tried it and we weren't impressed and didn't go back for quite some time. We gave it another shot and turns out they revamped their menu and wow - now we find ourselves coming back regularly. The auguachile de camaron is delicious The esquites, the tacos, the salmon risotto is amazing - trust me! Recently had the ribeye and I would put it up there with most steakhouses downtown. I'm still thinking about their asada almost 3 months later. This place was SO good and the service was amazing. I was super pregnant when we went and my hip was aching and causing leg spasms, and they were not at all bothered by me needing to prop up my leg on a chair. I felt super rude but really had no choice, and they made me feel better by not caring at all and actually helping me get the chair. Service was also very prompt and the food came out quickly and accurately. It was delicious. We started with the Queso con Carne which was excellent. It was kind of cross between traditional queso and queso flameado, but served with a handful of chips vs. tortillas. I think it would have been nice with tortillas. I also thought there could be more meat in the queso because 1) it was delicious and I wanted more and 2) it was advertised as having meat so it was kind of a bummer that it was a bit stingy. They also only gave us like 12 chips and we had to request more. I had the Chamorro which was excellent. My only complaint was that it was kind of just a bunch of meat. It did come with a pretty small side of beans and rice, but otherwise was just a big hunk of meat. I'm sure that's traditional, but I wasn't quite sure what to do with it. Maybe some tortillas or something at least would have complemented it? My husband wanted carne asada, which they only had on the lunch menu. There was probably a similar dish somewhere in the steak section of the menu, but nothing that was obviously the carne asada. Luckily, they let him order off the lunch menu and just charged a little more. The steak was SO good. When we left Austin the next day to head back to Belton, I suggested we stop and just order some carne asada to go. My husband said it was just pregnancy craziness and talked me out of it, but later admitted that it was a good idea and we were both full of regret. The place was pretty empty while we were there, but it looked like it had a really nice outdoor seating area and there was someone setting up for live music. It might be more of a late night place. Yesterday was the FIRST time we had been to this restaurant, and we will be back! I opted to try the brunch buffet, and it was amazing! There were so many options that my husband said when we go back, that is WHAT he is going to choose as well. The food offered was fresh, and again, there were SO many options, including a chocolate fountain. Our daughter ordered a steak fajita. THAT would have been enough for 2 people! My husband ordered barbacoa? I'm spelling that incorrectly, but he said it was probably one of the best he'd had. The cocktails? TOP_NOTCH! NOT watered down. My husband had a Mexican Martini. I had a Strawberry Margarita. Our waitress was Adriana, and she was so kind, professional, and patient. We hadn't been there before, so she explained the menu and the buffet. We really enjoyed talking with her as well. VERY nice and interesting person. I hope we see her again. While we DID eat on the patio, with the fans on us, it was comfortable despite the hot, July day. Our daughter loved the grounds as she was looking for wildlife and saw a rabbit while she explored. We will ABSOLUTELY return. We stayed for almost 2 hours, were not rushed to leave, and were completely relaxed. Probably the NICEST experience we've had in a restaurant in a long time. The ambience of this restaurant is first rate. We have eaten here many times. However, on our last visit there were several misteps. We ordered the beef and chicken fajitas and the waitress informed us that they on had corn tortillas. Mind you this was in the early evening so I cant imagine being out of this basic item. We have mostly been here for their buffet on Sunday and is always great. Today we were here during lunch - not sure if it's new management, new kitchen staff or what happened but it was completely underwhelming. We had the enchiladas with mole and tacos de bistek. Mole was like I was eating potpourri- inedible. I tried and could not do it. I last had their mole about a year ago and it was good. This was something else. The Bistek was likely old and just reheated. It was dry and charred. The service was on par with the days quality of food. What WAS good were the totopos and salsas served to start. There's a thousand generic Mexican restaurants with a Tex-Mez twist similar to this in the area. Asadas Grill compares favorably. The decor/ambiance is a bit more upscale than average. They have a salad bar that is so-so but better than no salad bar. The food was yummy though and the service top-notch. I had mole enchiladas, the mole was on the sweeter side but really good. Had a team lunch here recently. Nice place, big with a large patio overlooking a creek. The food was not good and was very overpriced. Got a $50 ribeye that was medium rare. It was served more on the rare side and was really not great. They need a much hotter grill to get a good sear on the meat. See photo. Some people shared a tomahawk, which was a fun presentation, but it looked chewy as I watched them struggle to cut through some of the bites. Also, it's a $170 48oz bone-in steak. If I could leave a (0) star I would. $13 dollars for the buffet salad with refrigerated taste pasta salad and Salad. upon walking to the salad it looked 50/50 but as you got close you see that it may have been sitting for a little bit. Super salty and muggy which leaves us to belive the food has been waiting to be used for a while. 2nd appetizer was the Chipotle shrimp. The dish was decent and the food was warm and notto complain about. But the fact that we decided to close out after having the shoddy salad bar and eating those spoiled esquites we decided to leave immediately. We spent less than 35min in the resturant. As we closed out we asked our server to remove the esquites from the bill which he did and we paid $50 plus tip which we gladly gave because he was awesome and the issue was the establishment and management. After we paid the bill he then approached us and said that we needed to pay for the salad bar even though we didn't order full meals. He hit us with $13 salad bar fees per person after closing out. He said that establishment would charge him if he didn't get payment. Long story short food is awawful, service is OK, management is poor and they service food well past its time to the public. Our first time at Asadas, and I was pleasantly surprised by my experience! They debuted their new menu the day we checked it out and we were happy with the selection of tacos, traditional plates, and appetizers! If you order any tacos or plate, you get free access to their tapas bar where they had fruit, salad fixings, various cold salads and meats and cheese. While that spread was a nice touch, there was nothing too noteworthy. I ordered the shrimp (camarón) tacos, and wow! These were both beautiful and delicious! The shrimp was fried nicely and the balance of flavors was delicious! Definitely worth the $15, and I really don't think you could find a better deal many other places. We really enjoyed our visit to Asadas Grill! They opened up recently in the old Zed's location, and if you didn't know it was there... you'd miss it. You can't see it from the freeway but it shares a parking lot with JC Penney. We decided to stop in for some drinks and appetizers in the middle of the afternoon. The drinks were a pleasant surprise. There are the usual beer and margaritas, but they also have some interesting cocktails. Try them! Our favorite of the day was El Quita Cruda and the Flor de Puebla. We also tried a skinny margarita and a Mexican martini, both of which were also good! Hence you really can't go wrong; but we wanted to try some new things and you should too! We also had a sampling of appetizers: ceviche, shrimp with bacon and guacamole! All were goodbye the standouts here were the ceviche and shrimp/ bacon appetizers. Full of flavor! Also these dishes had more an interior Mexican flavor profile, not Tex Mex! When we sat down, they brought out some black bean nachos along with water. Very tasty! We sat on the back patio which is lovely and big! It wasn't crowded so there was plenty of space along with fans to keep air circulating. All in all, we enjoyed our visit and will be back. First time at location since it was previously Zeds. Very nice location, ample parking and customer service was very good. We had a party of 5 and had varying ratings of the food but none were bad. I had the mole chicken enchiladas and was not disappointed, but the rice and beans were a little bland. 2 in our party had the carne asada burrito which had good flavor but one had a bone in it, not expected at all. The last 2 in group had carne asada tacos and shrimp fajitas, only complaint was that the onions and peppers in the fajita weren't grilled down enough, but shrimps flavor was good. My only real issue would be with the chips, they were hard and appeared to rationed, we only had what appeared to be 10 chips for a party of 5, and we were hungry! Other than that, had a good time and really liked the atmosphere which was lively. Will be back to try more dishes and drinks. read more
