We went out on an impromptu dinner date and this place was great! They have a huge back patio and there was love music, so that was cool. All entrees come with the salad bar! That included: salad, fruit, veggies, charcuterie, rice, beans, and bunch of other stuff. We thought that was pretty cool. Honestly, you can get a lot of food for a pretty decent price. We ordered esquites appetizer and it was delicious. For my entree I ordered Huachinango Zarandeado (snapper). It had a lot of flavor, filling but light at the same time. I honestly forget what type of fish my wife had, but her plate was good as well. The service was friendly and the timing of the dishes was good. We'll definitely be going back for a other date night!

I think long and hard before writing a lower star review. I try to give the benefit of the doubt and that they could be having an off day but there was too much wrong with this experience to let it go and we certainly wouldn't go back to try again. The reason for 2 stars and not just 1, is because the server was sweet and attentive. Pros: - Huge patio and outdoor space - Thick warm chips (for salsa) - nice server Cons: - No red (regular) salsa. They were all heavy and either mayo or oil based. I've never seen a place with 6 different salsas and no regular red salsa. So weird. - They were literally out of everything we wanted to eat. Like six different items we asked about, both from the appetizers and the mains, were out. - Their flour tortillas are 100% store bought and were not the tasty kind. - pico de gallo was spoiled! I didn't even have anywhere to spit it out because we didn't get plates, just the platter of fajitas in front it me. - Beef fajitas were tender and seemed like quality meat BUT had no fajita flavor. It was a piece of sliced beef with no discerning seasoning. (Pair that with spoiled pico, no real salsa, and not great tortillas and you no longer have a fajita!) It was $31 too! - kids menu didn't exist but she told us the 3 options (chicken strips, fries, cheese quesadilla or macaroni and cheese)! We ordered a kid cheese quesadilla and asked if meat could be added. The cheese quesadilla was $6.99 and then they charged another $5 to put a few cubes of meat in it. - The rice and beans were among the worst I've ever tasted. Completely flavorless rice and the refried black beans lacked seasoning of any kind. I hate writing this review. I hate that we just spent $117 at this place and left feeling like we should have driven the extra 6 minutes and gone to Chuys but we would have never known if it was good or not if we didn't try. They seem to have a nice spread for Saturday and Sunday brunch and we commented among ourselves that we should return to try it but after eating today's food we wouldn't. It's 2025 and given how pricey their food is, to charge a 3% fee to pay with a credit card seems absurd. We would not have known if we hadn't asked for the receipt. Our server was very nice and her service was A+.

They're not busy. Good lukewarm. French fries were not out in when we ordered. They said it would take another 5 mins. The server talks so loud it really ruined the space for me. I would recommend the purée pineapple on the pastor to someone with NO tastebuds. The food was just BAD! The other server was busy playing in her hair. EEEEEEEE-yuck!

Not sure what happened, This place used to be good. I got the garlic shrimp today. I would not recommend seafood here, proceed with caution. Its nice that that they had live music though on Friday.

I'm still thinking about their asada almost 3 months later. This place was SO good and the service was amazing. I was super pregnant when we went and my hip was aching and causing leg spasms, and they were not at all bothered by me needing to prop up my leg on a chair. I felt super rude but really had no choice, and they made me feel better by not caring at all and actually helping me get the chair. Service was also very prompt and the food came out quickly and accurately. It was delicious. We started with the Queso con Carne which was excellent. It was kind of cross between traditional queso and queso flameado, but served with a handful of chips vs. tortillas. I think it would have been nice with tortillas. I also thought there could be more meat in the queso because 1) it was delicious and I wanted more and 2) it was advertised as having meat so it was kind of a bummer that it was a bit stingy. They also only gave us like 12 chips and we had to request more. I had the Chamorro which was excellent. My only complaint was that it was kind of just a bunch of meat. It did come with a pretty small side of beans and rice, but otherwise was just a big hunk of meat. I'm sure that's traditional, but I wasn't quite sure what to do with it. Maybe some tortillas or something at least would have complemented it? My husband wanted carne asada, which they only had on the lunch menu. There was probably a similar dish somewhere in the steak section of the menu, but nothing that was obviously the carne asada. Luckily, they let him order off the lunch menu and just charged a little more. The steak was SO good. When we left Austin the next day to head back to Belton, I suggested we stop and just order some carne asada to go. My husband said it was just pregnancy craziness and talked me out of it, but later admitted that it was a good idea and we were both full of regret. The place was pretty empty while we were there, but it looked like it had a really nice outdoor seating area and there was someone setting up for live music. It might be more of a late night place. We were there for dinner around 6 on a Saturday.

You have GOT to love an establishment that does NOT mess with the cocktail. It's EXACTLY as it SHOULD be.

Yesterday was the FIRST time we had been to this restaurant, and we will be back! I opted to try the brunch buffet, and it was amazing! There were so many options that my husband said when we go back, that is WHAT he is going to choose as well. The food offered was fresh, and again, there were SO many options, including a chocolate fountain. Our daughter ordered a steak fajita. THAT would have been enough for 2 people! My husband ordered barbacoa? I'm spelling that incorrectly, but he said it was probably one of the best he'd had. The cocktails? TOP_NOTCH! NOT watered down. My husband had a Mexican Martini. I had a Strawberry Margarita. Our waitress was Adriana, and she was so kind, professional, and patient. We hadn't been there before, so she explained the menu and the buffet. We really enjoyed talking with her as well. VERY nice and interesting person. I hope we see her again. While we DID eat on the patio, with the fans on us, it was comfortable despite the hot, July day. Our daughter loved the grounds as she was looking for wildlife and saw a rabbit while she explored. We will ABSOLUTELY return. We stayed for almost 2 hours, were not rushed to leave, and were completely relaxed. Probably the NICEST experience we've had in a restaurant in a long time. Our thanks to Adriana for making it so!

chicken plate, (2) tortillas, refried beans with queso fresca, rice and pico. I also ordered a side of guacamole which was also good!

FRESH! This is simple, fast and fresh mexican food! Counter service restaurant. They have fresh pastor (pork) slow roasting behind the counter. My chicken "fajita" plate filled me up and wasn't much more than going to a fast food place. Staff was very friendly, and the whole place was very clean and in order!

I've driven by El Alma many times being in the Austin area, but I never went until last Thursday, and after surviving a brief monsoon, I was glad to get a few drinks and eat some good TexMex with my large party just before a wedding. The best way to describe El Alma is that it is TexMex that is Austinified. Everything feels a little more unique and special than your classic TexMex options. I started off with a Mezcal Margarita that put a little hair on my chest and got me going. My group ordered two of their Nachitos, which were these nice nachos. For my main entrée, I got 3 Al Pastor tacos on corn with a side of their rice and beans. Their pastor was served with pineapples, onions, and cilantro with limes on the side. They were great and I immediately crushed them all. I thought their rice and beans were pretty good as well and a step above the typical TexMex rice and beans. The server was pretty attentive throughout our whole visit, and I honestly have no complaints about what they had to offer. Pricing on the meal and drinks was pretty standard for Austin, and I didn't think anything really took me out of the experience. On top of that, for being in Barton Springs, there is quite a bit of parking. I would love to come back at some point in the future and hang out on their rooftop bar because that seems like a lot of fun. Shoutout to El Alma for being a TexMex oasis saving me from the MoPac traffic. RIYL: TexMex, but better than your average

I have not found a taco place that was phenomenal until I tried this place! The vibes take you back to Mexico with authentic tacos served simple, straight forward, and let the taco speak for itself! We were downtown for a concert at the Moody Theater and were hungry so we decided to walk a short 9 mins to Taqueria De Diez! The best decision made! Full disclosure... the establishment is located down a very DARK creepy alley (the kind in the movies where you shouldn't go down to get) but after overcoming that fear... this will be the best decision you make! Your tummy will thank you! Follow the outside "TACO here" sign. Go through the door and walk straight... this will get you through the line. Lucky for us on a Saturday night at 10:30pm there wasn't a super long line. We managed to grab two seats to chow down our tacos. You will be able to see the chefs cook the carne asada on the grill and the Al pastor on the spit roast being cut to be put in tacos. The smell was amazing and you know you're at a legit place! Ordering: -Check out their menu while waiting in line so you know what to order when it's your turn. -place order at register. They accept visa, Mastercard, Venmo, cash, but does NOT accept AMEX. - grab your drinks if you purchased some. Mexica soda, horchata, jimicama drinks, water , etc - give your ticket to the expeditor and tell them to go or dine there. The expeditor will ask you cilantro, onions, and salsa on a taco? Say yes. It's a must. The expeditor will tell the chefs to assemble your tacos. (I'm seriously so impress with how efficient and quick their service goes. We waited maybe 5-10 mins and got 5 tacos and chips/salsa. There was about 8 ppl in front of us but the lines go quick. If you ordered chips and salsa then you will get the chips from the cashier and the salsa from the expeditor. * 1 Al pastor taco on flour 4/5: love the fresh pineapples on it! The Al pastor had crispy pieces and was super tasty! It was really tasty. There were pieces of meat that was dry but the salsa helped and pineapple. Season was really good! I was in awed with how tasty it is! Definitely best Al pastor in ATXi had! * 1 Campechano on flour 5/5: wow best of both worlds! I had this taco second and loved the combo flavor! Juiciness of the carne asada and crispy frol the Al pastor. * carne asada on flour 5/5: juicy perfectly seasoned and love the green sauce on it! Sauce was creamy and paired well with the taco. It was so so freaking good! The flour tortilla is super thin and let the meats stand out. Loaded Smokey taco and was differently the best carne asada I've ever had! After trying the carne asada I definitely think it's better than Al pastor! I'm glad I tried the Al pastor taco first before the carne because I think the carne asada would have outshine the Al pastor if I had it first. It was a great end to the last taco! * 1 VOLCAN- couldn't try because it was sold out * chips and salsa 4/5: chips crispy and not oily. Salsa was super spicy but good. All tacos come with onions cilantro and salsa with no additional cost. Overall do I recommend this place? I truly wish I tried this place 5 yrs ago when I moved to ATX! I truly highly recommend this place! Do not wait 5 yrs to go try this place or you will be full of regrets! It's a simple taco but made right with complex balance and flavors! I love love love it and now will be thinking about these tacos! Highly recommended! Prices are reasonable and the tacos are made with love!

We all ordered drinks and asked for water at this point. The water was brought, but we waited and waited for our drinks. After another 20 minutes and watching the bartenders (who were not busy this evening) make no moves to make our drinks, we got up and left. I have never had such an experience at a restaurant before.
