This location had a large variety of products to choose from and just about every color you could think of to paint it. They also had inspiration books to help jog your creativity. However, when I picked up our pieces and got them home my lights for the large Christmas cactus do not fit! Any slight bump & they fall out. I emailed the location with pictures several weeks ago & never got a response. Today I called & was told to just glue them in. However, I was also told when we were in that you can change the Christmas lights for flower lights. Well, how can I change the lights out if I have to glue them in! I love coming here. The workers are nice and ask if you need help or if you know what you're doing. If you make a reservation at a reasonable time before they close, you should have absolutely no problems. I love that they have huge windows so you can see outside. Westgate is always poppin so it's fun to people watch a little while you paint. Last time me and my friends went, they had bubbles being blown all over the entertain circle outside so that was pretty to watch. The choices of things you can paint is pretty vast. Had a great visit with my mom and the girls today. I didn't know they have a thing going on right now called Mania Monday. Buy one get one free! You still pay the $8 sitting fee. So 4 of us painted and we only paid for the two most expensive pieces. That's a deal for me. Overhead and the cost to run a kiln! Not to mention thr paint! Due to covid when you are done everything is left in the sink and employees will wash and disinfect everything. They are keeping it toasty warm in the winter months. They offered a refresher going over everything with us. Prices are on the bar code stickers on thr bottom. After you're done painting your piece will dry, they will coat it and fire it. We will pick our piece up in 3 days. For an extra $5 fee they will write on it for you if you like. My mom made something for her sister and didn't feel artistic enough to pen it herself in paint. So awesome! The gal even wrote the names on the bottom of the girl's pieces. They offer drinks and snacks for a fee. Pricing for that is by the register. I really want to give this place a higher rating, especially since there are not many places that offer Girl Scout Workshops that result in your girls earning a badge. The activities were okay and the girls had fun. We had 7 girls attend the Brownie Pottery Badge Workshop on a Sunday. We had it scheduled several weeks in advance. The place seemed to have issues with answering their phone whenever I tried to call about anything prior. They claimed electrical issues, not sure if that was true or not. Because there were issues on several days. Also, they never once mentioned anything about there being a cost to park at the Westgate Shopping area if that was a "game" day. Each parent brought their own kids so we had parents freaking out about having to pay to park. At least they do reimburse or take off your total fee the cost to park, BUT ONLY if you park in a "yellow" lot that charges you $15. If you find a cheaper spot you are pretty much screwed and they wont even consider reimbursement. (I have an email into the store manager, who responded and can't do anything for those of us that parked outside of the yellow in terms of reimbursement, but he did offer a $5 off coupon.) As for the activities, it seemed the girl running it could have used some help and provided more guidance to the girls. Although our girls had fun, half the time some of the girls were off talking and waiting on others. We Leaders had to step in often to keep things moving along and keep the girls together and engaged. The tour of the kiln room and the fact the girls were able to dip their painted tiles in the glaze themselves was cool. One drawback that I did not know going into this was I would have to go back to this location and pick all their items up later this week. I wish they would have shared this before I booked. Also, being told exactly what was going to be done and how long it would take would have helped also for planning purposes. So in the spirit of helping future Troop leaders. This is what they did. Talked about pottery, Painted a Tile, Talked about clay, used the clay to make a small item (they take these home same day), they then got a look at the kiln room and they got to dip their painted tiles in the glaze themselves. This all in all took a little less than 2 hours. My advice try to avoid going on a game day (we had no idea one was this past Sunday). Lastly, unless you have 9 or more girls you plan to book for an event, they will not take a reservation over the phone. Every time I called prior to booking I was told to do it online and that is where all the info was. If I was calling the store I obliviously wanted to talk to someone to get more info. Might suggest they work on that a bit more at this location. read more

I prefer the location in tempe. They have the same items here but the service was terrible. The two girls working there did not help us with anything. We had to ask for each item, aprons, bowls, sponges, etc.. they set nothing up for us. The concept and pottery are the same, but if you are located between the two, please choose Tempe location, as the staff, there is much more helpful. The concept allows you to pay a painting fee, then choose a ceramic from a selection ranging in price from 5.00 to 30.00 approx. My niece and nephew really enjoy doing this and it is a great way to get out of the sun and be creative. Just not at this location. read more

We have been going to As You Wish for over 10 years! I love to see all the items we have made around my house and put out for the holidays! We went yesterday as a break from quarantine and followed the rules for social distancing and mask wearing. While the tables are set up for social distancing, unfortunately, the mask wearing was not enforced. There were several tables where people were not wearing masks at all. The staff was friendly and helpful with painting and cleaning but did not request that others wear masks. I was very disappointed with that. We will wait to go back again! read more

Went here a couple of times and had a so much fun! When my mom went to pick up the 4 pieces we painted, there happened to be a Coyotes' game. Parking was $15! The attendant told my mom to get her receipt validated so parking would be free. At AYW, the clerk said that my mom couldn't get validation because she had already paid for the merchandise. While in town, I wanted to take my two older kids (3 & 5) out to do something different. We had seen this place at the Tempe marketplace and thought it was a good idea to take my daughter (5yo) since she loves arts and crafts. I checked online and they had a wacky Wednesday deal where the studio fees were free which is an $8 fee per guest. I was able to schedule a reservation for that same day at the Westgate location, so convenient. As soon as we got there they were very helpful and explained everything to us in detail and even made suggestions. They have big ceramics to paint, medium size and even have smaller ones which can be turned in to magnets. My daughter got a mermaid, my son got a dinosaur and I got a peacock. They're a good size and each was around $15. When we finished painting we went to the front desk to drop them off to be placed in the Kiln. They let me know our stuff would be ready by Saturday. I freaked out for a bit because we were planning to leave AZ Friday morning. Krystal I believe is her name (beautiful curly hair) said she would do her best to have them ready by Friday morning after they open @10:00am. I honestly was already planning on having a relative pick them up and ship them to us. Thankfully, Friday morning around 0900, I got a phone call from Sklyar letting me know that our things were ready! As soon as I got there they immediately recognized me and said they would wrap our stuff for us. Such a great experience! Neat experience for a kids art-themed birthday party My six year-old and I were in As You Wish for her friend's birthday party. It worked out very well. The group picked out the pieces they wanted to do, painted and chatted away for about an hour, cleaned up together, and then finished with gifts and a rendition of "Happy Birthday to You". It was superb to have kids and parents playing + working together for an activity for once. Service staff was pretty good, as well. Not as structured as I would have hoped, but still helpful. So many things went wrong with my visit here. Before deciding on actually painting a piece I made sure to ask all of the right questions such as when I would be able to pick up my finished product as I was leaving Phoenix for the summer. I was assured that they would be ready right on time. So my family and I picked out our pieces and got to painting. It was fun, but unfortunately not only was our pottery not ready on time, as promised, but they didn't put all of them in the oven at the same time!! Thus delaying the process even further. Unbelievable. Also, even though they tell you your pottery will be ready by a certain day/time they do not call you. You have to call in and check on the status where they will have a difficult time locating it as they do not have a tracking system to know which items belong to the customer(s) It's just so disappointing to have had such a horrible experience all around with this establishment.
