I love going to As You Wish on date nights! It's such a fun activity- I love painting the pottery. The employees are always really nice. I've been to other pottery studios in the area and I like that as you wish gives you the ability to grab your own paint. Other places make you raise your hand when you need paint and I felt like I was constantly needing help. As You Wish is so much easier and I love it! This was my first time experiencing going to a pottery place. It was super fun. I always wanted to try painting pottery but never really got the opportunity. I made a reservation for a Saturday at 7:30. I arrived at 7:15 and I was helped right away. It was pretty crowded when I got there but I still had a nice table. The store associate Britney was very helpful and thorough explaining the process to me. They did have some decent options to choose from. The prices for pottery piece was a little high but that's to be expected. I only wished my date would have gotten there on time and we would have had more time to paint. Such a great location! The employees are always friendly and helpful. I LOVE going to As You Wish! It's such a fun way to spend your afternoon by yourself or with friends! Items are priced individually, and there is a set studio fee which is $8 per person. There are tons of colors and paints to pick from. They provide everything from stencils, to puffy paint, to even writing something out for you on your item in a pretty font. (For a fee) They offer tons of classes and they even have an app where you can find pretty good coupons! After your done painting your piece, you leave it there (wah) and it usually takes about two days for it to be ready! For me it's the longest days ever! Make sure to ask for a punch card! It has pretty good perks on there! Anyways, if you love to be creative and have fun, definitely give As You Wish a try! read more

So it's the same set up as any As You Wish. It's a little smaller than the other one in the area. It seemed like they didn't have quite the selection of colors or tools that that the other one has. There was also an odd smell in there at the time. That said while I wouldn't say the employees were over the top helpful they were accommodating. Unlike on previous visits to other locations no one stopped by to check on progress, get stickers from the bottom, or make suggestions even though it was my guests first visit until the very end. However when I had to move my reservation time they were very helpful & all the staff was pleasant to deal with. read more

My daughter was wanting some mommy daughter time so she asked to come here! It was cute, quite, clean and organized! The girls were very friendly and explained how everything worked and helped us get started! It was their anniversary so we got a discount on our painting fee so that was cool! Disappointed to say the least went here with a group of 6 friends to celebrate a very special night and ended up going paying $50 and my 2 hours worth of work was dropped the next day. They called said they would replace the merchandise but ultimately I feel like they just fell short. They are covering the merchandise that I paid $20 not counting my painting time or anything. They did apologize but honestly super disappointed with how it was all handled. All that was said was we will replace your merchandise and we're sorry. Friendly helpful staff. They helped me plan and design complex patterns, find where the equipment is, gave me advice when asked. Light to dark rule, three coats, pencil marks burn off in the kiln. Professional. Pickup always ready by promise time, never lost or damaged my pieces. I trust them to handle my carefully painted pieces. Can take a painting break and go to coldstone nextdoor. My daughter and I stopped in today to make some pottery and there was a wonderful woman named Lu who seem to be managing the place today. There was a blind woman and Lu was absolutely wonderful helping her to create her pottery. Lu was also a wonderful help to us in creating some tracings for our pottery. It was so refreshing to see her helping so many people with her cheerfulness and expertise. She absolutely made our visit a 10+. We went on Feb 20th - it happened to be Wacky Wednesday. My 5 kids enjoy painting pieces for their grandma and grandpa when we go. We've been to this location before (January) and had a wonderful experience.. the employees were super helpful and really wonderful with my family despite the fact that we had 5 kids (ages 2-12). But this time it was different. I'm not sure if it's because we came in at 8:10 pm (and they close at 9) or because they saw a relatively "big" family come in. It was almost as if we "disrupted" their closing schedule. There were quite a few people there when we got there. The staff member said "well, you can paint but you have to do it in 40 min or less...." I replied "yep, we will. Thanks." I quickly got my kids organized, and they were having a great time. But it was apparent from the continued looks from the staff that they were less than pleased we stayed. There were 3-4 employees on duty and not one of them looked energized to be there. They all looked like they were annoyed, and irritated that the store was still somewhat bustling .. perhaps they didn't want to have extra work to do. We finished up and left well before any of the other people there (without kids)... I wiped down our tables with disinfectant wipes and even took all of our dishes/brushes/sponges to the sink.. and washed them myself. There was one employee in particular that upset my husband because she kept staring us down.. as if we disrupted her evening. I'll be honest: it's not cheap to take 5 kids to a pottery painting store. We go on Wacky Wednesday because it is indeed more affordable. Unfortunately the whole evening was upsetting. The kids want to come back next month but my husband said he refuses to come back at all. It's should be a fun experience for anyone at any age. Past staff have been wonderful - the first trip here, they seemed to love their job and enjoy being around people of all ages. But this time, the staff were entirely different. In an industry where you are serving the public, it's detrimental to have an upbeat, positive, customer-oriented attitude. Anything less, and it's noticeable. My husband noticed from the moment he walked in - a less than stellar greeting led to an inadequate experience. His instinct was to leave, but because my kids wanted to paint, we stayed (him unwillingly). But it will be the last time we jump at the opportunity to take our kids painting, because it wasn't quite the experience I had hoped for. read more

I've been here quite a few times and I've always thoroughly enjoyed my visits. For the most part this is somewhat a do-it-yourself situation when you grab your object & gather paints & brushes yourself. The tables are always pre-supplied with water, sponges, etc by the workers beforehand. Each time I come in I'm happily greeted & my pieces are always glazed wonderfully. It can get a bit crowded & busy at times, but it is a very fun environment to be in with fairly reasonable pricing. It's about $8 for studio time to paint plus whatever the cost of your piece is. Sometimes $15+ can be a bit much for a smaller plate, but I typically chose tiles or small bowls anyway. I definitely recommend a visit especially to Jessica! She is super knowledgeable and clearly loves what she does. Can't wait to go in next time!! read more

I like this location better than Chandler, it is closer to my seven year old niece's house, and just enjoy the vibe more. Have been a few times, and brought her BFF pre-Mother's Day to make vases for their Mommy's. They offer a large selection of items to paint, and it is an easy process for the little ones. Not sure if it is just this particular age group, but the girls really enjoy "making" things, especially gifts. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the store is well organized and clean. Any fans of "The Princess Bride" will dig the name as much as I do! Looking forward to returning when I'm back in AZ next month, because my niece wants me to accompany her to paint the "Tea Party Set" we gifted for her birthday. I've seen adults there, too, and they do have a schedule for classes. For now, I'll enjoy my Auntie times :) read more

I've been to a lot of paint your own pottery places, and with the exception of my favorite place in the middle of nowhere Montana, this one is the best. Why? They have a great (and actually affordable) selection of items, from soap dishes to mugs, giant serving platters to cupcake boxes. Many items are under $15, which is better than some other local PYOP places I've been to. The studio fee is $8 for adults, but you can find a coupon for $2 off online, so it's not too bad. We painted our stuff on a Saturday evening, and were told it was set for pick up on Tuesday after 4pm -- not a bad turn around. Better yet, the staff as awesome, friendly, and Tom was a rockstar! He taught us some awesome new techniques, was helpful about bringing examples over, and really made for a fun and fabulous date night with two adults painting holiday presents for family. We had a freaking blast, and absolutely cannot wait to go back! read more

My first foray into painting at this place brought back some memories of the early 70s when my former husband and I got involved in doing ceramics at the hobby shop on the Navy base where he was stationed. We poured our own pieces; cleaned the greenware and fired it to bisque ourselves, then painted, glazed, fired, and ended up with a finished piece. This is easier--and quicker. For $8.00, you go in and select a piece of bisque to paint, sit at a table with your friend(s) and paint to your heart's content, then let the competent staff finish it off with glaze and firing. You pay for the piece you've purchased, and a few days later you walk out with a finished piece for yourself or a friend. I went with my daughter on a weekday afternoon and the place was almost empty. I selected a rather large piece to start with--a large salad bowl. We were there about 2-1/2 hours and it was so relaxing just to sit and paint and chat and laugh. My one gripe has to do with the finishing of my piece. When I got it back, there was a spot where the paint I had applied had somehow disappeared, leaving a white blotch in the middle of the green. Also, on the outside of the piece, many little bubbles had appeared in the glaze and marred the look and feel of the finish. I took it back and the staff there repaired it - took a Dremel to it and removed the bad spots, reglazed and refired it. It looks great now and I'm ready to put my next salad in it. It was fun and a great way to spend a relaxing afternoon. I'll be back the next time I'm in Mesa. read more

WE LOVE AS YOU WISH and have been going to this location for approximately ten years. We were there today for 2 1/2 hours, and walked out feeling totally relaxed. The staff is helpful, and they have hundreds of pottery pieces to choose from. The paint selection is extensive, as well as items needed to finish your piece. We love it, the kids think its fantastic. I've brought friends and out of town guests to As You Wish because its not just "fun", its an experience. I've been about a dozen times, probably 10 times to this location and another 2 at the location on Gilbert and the 202. I've never had a bad experience, never had to wait for a table. The staff is always very nice, sometimes they are more attentive and they are less attentive the more people there are there (like on the weekends) I think though, that if you need your hand held, the weekend is probably not your best bet to try this for the first time. Once the lady at the counter broke something we'd painted (when I'd come to pick it up) Thankfully it was something small and not creatively painted, she apologized more than 10 times, offered to let me paint another one and then said she would paint it and I could pick it up the next day, then she gave me 3 free sitting passes. The ONLY reason I gave it 4 and not 5 stars is that my youngest kid is 9 and the noise level is very high here, all the time. No one can be blamed for that, not even the staff, this place attracts kids, and some of them are younger than I would be willing to take there but thats a personal choice. The child volume is even higher during the day on weekends (a lot of birthday parties) Also, try the glass, its so much fun and very different. read more

Came in with my daughter at 9:23 on 3/1/19, although I was greeted, one of the employees came up to me and let me know that they close in 30 mins. They didn't help us get paint, they didn't speak to us at all afterwards. I understand that we came in close to close but they were rude. They didn't make this a good experience for my child nor I. I will not be coming back here or any other As You Wish. This place needs better employees with great costumer service. I am going to look up other painting places that are kid friendly because this place was not. I wish we didn't spend our money here because it was an AWFUL EXPERIENCE. read more

My office held a team builder at this place a couple of weeks ago. It was my first time doing anything like this and I really loved it! The selection of paints an pottery pieces was awesome! This was our first time to As You Wish...we popped in on a whim and absolutely loved it. We've been to other pottery painting places before but this was absolutely the best!! We loved all the great ideas they had and different type of paints and supplies. But the absolute best part of our experience was the staff. We primarily worked with Jaida and she was incredible!! Not only giving us great ideas but helping us every step of the way. When we wanted to correct something on one of our pieces or design using different fonts she helped us every step of the way. My 7 year old messed up her writing on one of her pieces - Jaida showed her how to fix it...and voila...my daughter was happy again. We will definitely be coming back...we bought a family pass and will absolutely be coming when Jaida's working :-) read more

A bit pricey to me...Pretty nice staff and a great family friendly atmosphere...except for the fact that they played some inappropriate songs on their radio station (with kids all over).
