The throwing class was awesome and seemingly affordable. Paloma was lovely and a great teacher. But the prices kept adding up and each piece needed an additional firing fee which seemed like it should have been included (or I could have been warned). The thing I was most bummed about was that they don't trim the pieces for you (or let you trim them). It feels a total waste of time, money and clay, to make a pot, bowl etc that's heavy and sharp at the base. Not entirely usable and leaves you bummed out. My daughter was so sad ver her finished product (she made as a gift to me). It just felt the experience wasn't complete.

She answered all of our curious questions and she was nice to let us practice on her tray first before starting to work on ours. We got a free delicious cup of coffee, and we sat outside, which was perfect in our beautiful winter weather. They give you the tools you need and murals if you choose to use that. They said it will take about 6 weeks before the trays are baked and ready for us to pick up. I can't wait!! I would love to come back more :)

He was so friendly and an amazing teacher. Most of my friends had never taken a class before so it was fun to see them work and be creative! There's a nice little cafe where you can order drinks and there's so many cute things you can purchase in the shop as well. Overall such a fun thing to do with friends and family if you like pottery. Also when I picked up all our ceramic pieces the barista was so nice in assisting me! All the pieces turned out beautiful. I love taking classes at pip definitely a must try if you haven't done wheel throwing yet (:

We took over one of the larger tables; the entire eating area is small but calming and cozy. They have art studios attached and it was interesting to walk back and see the different rooms; most with some sort of pottery (hence the "clay"). They have lots of finished clay products on display and some were so creative! I ordered a cold brew with some cream and it was so good. I love a strong, cold coffee and this was perfect! I also ordered avocado toast which I made modifications to and only wanted some of the crispy onions on top, which I then ended up taking off. Food isn't their priority, although they do offer a limited selection of breakfast burritos, toasts, etc. Everyone was nice and friendly and overall it was a nice morning!

This wasn't just us, several people in our class had the same issue, and they had to call the owner to sort everything out before we could start. They also mentioned that we could bring our own drinks, which sounded great, but I wouldn't recommend it for the wheel-throwing class. We didn't open our wine as no cups were provided but there was also no time during the class to drink it. That said, our instructor, Callum, was amazing! Truly hands-on, patient, and made sure everyone left with a piece they were proud of, whether they chose to keep it or not. One thing to note: I wouldn't recommend this specific class for out-of-towners. If you want to keep your piece, the process takes about a month. First firing, then returning to paint, then a second firing. You also pay separately for any pieces you choose to keep and paint. Our class was $35 per person, and it's $20 per piece for firing if you plan to come back and paint it. It's a commitment, but also two fun experiences if you're local or don't mind returning. Overall, I'm taking off one star due to our specific experience with their wheel throwing activity, but I still think the concept of this place is great, and I look forward to coming back to paint my piece as well as to try a different activity!

Anita was our instructor. She gives very explicit instructions and I had success fairly quickly with my small creations. I learn by following instructions. My husband's experience was not good. He had success, but Anita told him several times that he didn't listen and he wasn't following instructions (in a rather harsh tone of voice. I think she calls it as she sees it without sugar coating her instructions). My husband learns by making mistakes and figuring out what works. He wasn't given the freedom to do that in these 45 min working sessions. So, overall my experience was OK. His experience was not good. So, I cannot recommend Desert Dragon, based on our personal experiences. But I found it was a good intro to pottery and the wheel.

My family was evacuated 4 days ago and believe me...it's not fun being homeless. The owner was super nice. She gave us some clay and showed us how to throw clay on the wheel to make our own bowls. We were able to create our own little creatures too. In about a week we come back to paint and glaze. This studio offers painting classes too. A great place to have a birthday party for your kids or just have a girls night out with clay and wine. Thank you again for giving a place to unwind and have some fun.

Me and my fiance created two heart shaped pots as a walk in during posted business hours with the…read moreassistance of a pleasant and helpful employee which we requested to be completed in the copper red raku glaze; we chose this color and finish as the employee showed us completed pieces for what we could expect our finished pieces to look like. We paid for the pieces and were told they would contact us when they were done. After almost two months of no communication from the business that they were finished, my fiance was finally able to pick them up only to see that the pots turned out vastly different than what we expected: green and purple/brown. The purple/brown pot has a matte finish around the sides that wasn't glossy, drips down the sides on the green bowl, rough clumpy material stuck in the finish of the purple/brown bowl with chips, and areas of bare pottery with no glaze. The cow skull piece broke off one bowl and without contacting me the studio made the decision to place in the other bowl without my approval. We were disappointed in the outcome and I contacted the owner immediately after. Four days later I attempted to have a mature and calm in-person conversation with the owner about these problems but I feel she took no accountability for the unsatisfactory condition of these "finished" pieces. She was incredibly rude and I feel made no attempt to listen to me as she talked over me and raised her voice at me. I found nothing on this company's website that would disclose that this glaze could turn out so different to potential customers choosing a specific color glaze or that customers could possibly expect pieces to have un-glazed areas, chipped areas, drips, and/or cracks. After leaving the store I subsequently received a text that me and my fiance are no longer welcome. We were offered a do-over on the bowls which I refused as I did not want to risk having more pieces completed in the same (in my opinion) unsatisfactory condition (this offer was later revoked as the owner stated we are no longer welcome). I requested what I felt was a reasonable solution in a partial refund due to a failure to provide proper and reasonable expectations of the pots but this was a refused solution by the business owner. I feel no sincere apology was made about this situation. I believe we purchased goods that were not finished or completed to any customer satisfaction. As a paying customer I wanted my concerns to be heard and to bring to light quality issues that could be affecting other customer's pieces but I feel that the owner did not want to actively listen to these problems of 1) no communication and 2) the finished condition of the bowls and instead was defensive of the whole situation. Overall this was not only a highly disappointing experience but also the worse customer service I've ever had from an individual.
