I love browsing in this store. However, I don't do it too often because there is always the temptation to buy something that you really don't need---you may want it but don't really need it. Therefore, I've learned to use some restraint.
The big advantage to these stores is this---If you see something in a commercial (or maybe an infomercial), you know you don't have to call that toll free number, you can go to this store and see what it is really like. Sometimes on TV, things seem better than they actually are in reality.
Well, today I actually did need something here. I was looking to buy 2 Ove Gloves. CVS used to have them but no longer does so...thanks to this store, I didn't have to call that toll free number LOL! I told my husband I was heading here and he told me to buy a caulking kit he saw on TV. He couldn't remember its exact name but he had a good description of it. Sure enough, I found it! Then, instead of getting what I needed and get on out of there, I just had to browse---and I found those purse hooks that you can take to restaurants and put on the table to keep your bag off the floor and... I had to buy a box with 2 in it. Ok!, I told myself, enough! I don't need any more Turbie Twists and the grandkids don't need any retiring Beanie Bears. Just go to the cash register!
As for the cash register---these stores are decidedly low tech. They have nothing to scan barcodes. Each item has a price tag on it. The cashier manually enters the price. That said, I'm amazed that despite all that, I can scan my own credit card there!
So...I recommend going to one of these stores before calling that toll free number---even if they tempt you with "But wait! There's more!" It's better to eyeball the item to see if it is what you actually want and need. read more
