I went here particularly because I had heard about some of the offerings- and this restaurant did not disappoint. Since we seem to have been eating non-stop since we got here, we could not order as much as we wanted to, but we had the Russian salad (an Arzabal classic) and in season- pan fried foie with garnacha wine reduction. The Russian salad was basically a delicious potato salad with tuna. The foie was heavenly. Pan seared foie- I opted for the full portion, and that was a bit of a mistake. It was SO much foie- so rich. I had to leave a bite. I was so sad. And let me tell you, part of the problem was that I'd eaten a TON of butter on my break. They bring you a crock of butter the size of a small bucket (really! Several pounds of French butter- yummy yummy French butter). The bread was fabulous and so was the large amount of butter I put on it. I wish I could eat here again, but I don't have time. Next time I'm in Madrid this place is at the top of my list.
I'm too lazy to rewrite my review- but I should have mentioned how lovely this restaurant is. It's a garden setting- some tables totally outside, some in a greenhouse. We'd made a reservation- perhaps that's why we got the greenhouse? I don't know. Gorgeous linens and flowers, lovely lovely atmosphere. It feels rustic even though you're in the heart of Madrid- this place transports you to the countryside. One thing- you can't use the wifi if you don't like them on Facebook. Since we didn't have a connection to the internet, we could not like them on Facebook. It was a little Catch-22-ish, but hey, they're a fabulous restaurant, not an intenet cafe, so I don't really care. read more
