What a great find!! My wife and I were driving down Murray Blvd a couple days back and I noticed that whatever business that had been here had been replaced with Adam's!!! All the way home we were saying, "Mmmm, Shawarma. Oh, that's sounds so good!" Well, today I didn't want to cook so we were off to sample some of Adam's fare. First off, Adam is a really nice guy. He had advice when we had questions and it really helped! Then to the food... It took a little while to come, but that's a GOOD THING. You want fast food? There's a Taco Bell (or some such mass produced garbage) across the street. Go there. If you want genuine food created by someone that cares about quality...Adam's is for you. We ordered the kabob/kofta plate, Veggie shawarma plate, a Manakeesh Zaatar (think middle eastern pizza), a piece of baklava, and this amazing cake drenched in this delicious syrup. Huge portions (we have lunch for tomorrow with half our dinners, half of the Manakeesh, and a half of the baklava). The flavors were delicate and balanced (with the only exception being the topping on the Mankeesh was a little salty. Dip it in the hummus...problem solved!). Note: Adam King of Shawarma and Gyro has been in this location "3 months and a day" (this according to Adam). Make sure to support good food in West Beaverton by patronizing this restaurant! I am so mad at myself! I've lived within walking distance of this restaurant since it opened but have never taken the opportunity to go there until last night. I suppose Covid is part of the reason, but small restaurants in mini-malls aren't usually the first thing that come to mind when we do decide to dine out. I've been to other Mediterranean/Lebanese restaurants, some good, some just so-so, and I wasn't really expecting to be blown away here, but boy was I wrong! The Shawarma Plate was perfect! The meat was deliciously seasoned without being overly salty, had a light char, and yet remained juicy and very tender. It was complimented by luscious rice, creamy hummus, and the best tabouleh I've ever had the pleasure of eating: At other places the parsley often seems too grassy and fibrous for my taste, but here, it was light, herbaceous, and wonderfully blended with finely chopped onion, garlic, and citrus. All the flavors played off each other so nicely, and the meal was a joy to experience. The interior is smallish, but well appointed and nicely decorated. The owner and cook was very friendly and made our meal quickly and to order (which is probably why it tastes so good). You can bet that we've vowed to make up for lost time and be regulars here for now on!! read more

It only took one bite of our wraps (falafel with garlic sauce for me and beef shawarma for my partner) for us to understand why this place is called Adam King of Shawarma! The falafel was crisp and fresh and tender, one of the best I've ever had, and there was such a generous amount of it in the wrap. In fact, generosity seemed to be the theme here. My husband's wrap was equally satisfying, with large portions of quality beef. Both the wraps were HUGE with heaping helpings of sauce and fresh lettuce and tomatoes to complement the beef/falafel. We ordered some French fries as a side and they were piping hot and perfectly crisp and of course King Adam did not skip on the portions here either! The baked goods also looked enticing -- we look forward to trying them on our next visit (we were too full after our giant wraps this time to consider dessert). In short, you really get your money's worth here and it's all due to Adam's kind service, incredible shawarma skills, and amazing generosity. All hail the King of Shawarma!! read more

went here last week and was disappointed. This plate of food is more expensive than any other take out I get and smaller but I try to help small business but at some point it's too much. This time instead of greek salad I got wilted brown lettuce. No salad dressing, nothing, and clearly the lettuce had seen better days. For $20, smaller portions, no bag, and now lettuce? My husband and I recently moved to Beaverton, OR and we were looking for a new Shawarma restaurant and while searching online we found Adam King of Shawarma. Right when we walked in we knew it was going to be authentic, delicious and just an all around great meal and experience. It's a small restaurant however, Adam is full of life and makes you feel right at home. My husband got the lamb shawarma and I had the chicken shawarma and it was as delicious as we knew it was going to be! After the wraps we couldn't leave without getting some dessert and they were as good as they looked. We got a couple of the Ma'amoul that were delicious as well as some baklava. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking to try something new or just loves Shawarma! read more

This is a new business (4 months old) and I suspect when the word gets out, this place will be packed. I have paid significantly more for a similar meal at a swanky place. The food is made with love and the Baba Ganoush is the BEST I've ever tasted. I would recommend this place to any foodie or individual that loves authentic cuisine. I ordered Chicken Shawarma and Baba Ganoush. I also took pastries home for some friends and they were beyond delicious. Our planned thanksgiving suffered a hiccup but thankfully, the very restaurant we'd been talking about trying was open. Yay! We ordered & received a huge lamb gyro for my daughter & chicken shawarma for me plus baklava! Everything just hit the spot--was fresh and tasty. Thoroughly enjoyable meal. Best part? Adam's food is always fresh and delicious. I always special order containers of certain dishes and serve it family style at home. Today we got his Tabouli, Yellow rice, order of lamb and order of chicken. Adam bakes delicious low sugar cookies full of nuts and a coconut bar covered in dark chocolate. Great meal! read more

I had a lamb gyro and fries. Both were really good. The gyro wasn't quite what I was expecting. It was more of a wrap instead of being on a pita, and I'm pretty sure it had fries on it. Whatever the details, it was very tasty. Definitely try the garlic sauce! read more

Oh this fella errs on the side of serving his customers heaping portions--- so far, so good! He's also open till 3 in the am on weekends, in keeping w/not a few of the carts in the immediate vicinity of Voo-Doo and their ubiquitous undead army of round the clock, nit-wit tourists. However, feel free to use this review as a cautionary tale: Even though there is a laminated menu w/great big pictures of all their menu items, I came to find out quickly that they are "not necessarily" cut and dried representations of what you'll actually be receiving. I got a lamb steak (yeah! Lamb steak) gyro for $9, and a chicken schwarma for I think $8. Both were huge and the flesh of each was tender and expertly prepared. It seemed to me the chicken was definitely meatier, for what that's worth. The hot sauce was a zesty and winning touch. But hold the phone--- both wraps came festooned, just like w/their next door neighbors, Big Ass Sandwiches, with enormous wads of super greasy french fries! What gives w/this disturbing trend! In the first place, these wraps were just fine, as is, and didn't need any tasty filler (though more meat wouldn't have been objectionable). In the second place, there are surely cultures at large in our world that are collectively just not getting enough calories in their diet, and might benefit from such, um, supplementation----but will I be shouted down as a nutjob if I proclaim that we do not, at this time, fit the criterion for said culture? Many menu items are pictured featuring french fries. I do not recall seeing any fries on neither the lamb steak nor the chicken---this is, in fact, why I picked 'em. So if you're looking to cut a good 1,000 or so easy calories from your menu item @ Adam King's cart, make sure to ask for no fries! Then you can feel good about turning right around and asking for extra of his home-made yogurt-garlic-olive oil sauce, which is fan-tastic! I'll definitely be paying a return visit to this cart---most likely on a very late weekend night. Adam's a swell fella, and has a very solid product. My boyfriend and I discovered Adam's about 8 months ago. I do not remember how we came to find this amazing food cart, which means alcohol was probably involved. Since that fateful evening, Adam's is on our favorite place to eat list. We live in SW so it is an easy drive. We tend to eat later in the evening like 9 or 10, and many places are closing, so Adam's is the perfect spot. I am a creature of habit and always get the same thing, the lamb shawarma. I love lamb, and Sam does it right! His garlic sauce is great, the spicy sauce he puts on is just right. The lamb is cooked to perfection and the french fries make it a perfectly rounded meal with meat, veggies (lettuce and tomatoes), and a starch. Come hungry, if you can finish the whole thing, you will be stuffed! My boyfriend tends to be more experimental and has tried many things off the menu. He loves them all! Drunk or sober.. you should definitely check this cart out. It is extremely clean, high quality, and will make your mouth say "mmmmmmmmm." read more

Late night with friends in the Voodoo district sometimes calls for more than just a sugary-bacony overload. After a quick search on the Yelp app, I found Adam. It was perfect for what I needed; filling, tasty food, and a generous portion of it. I got the Chicken Shawarma, and it was ooooh so good. The sauce was definitely the best part of the whole thing. It was a great sandwich, but I think I'll get it without fries next time around. The fries kind of gave it a deep-fried flavor that overpowered the sandwich and took away from the juicy fresh taste of a normal gyro. Adam was really nice, and served up the grub lickety split. I only had to talk to one drunk person before my food was ready. I'll be back if I'm in the area at that time of night again! read more

So far today, I've eaten a piece of pie from a pie I bought two days ago and stored in the fridge, and I've eaten the lamb gyro I bought yesterday and stored on the fridge. I first noticed that the lamb is more of the lunch meat-style lamb than chunks of lamb you can at least imagine being cooked in the food cart. The veggies are fresh. It tastes fine. I wouldn't get it again, because I prefer lamb chunks that look like what I think of as meat. The pie (Shari's) was good, each piece as good as the piece of pie I ate before. And yet, my stomach is gurgling in that "I've eaten something that was unclean unclean unclean!" sort of way. I leave you to draw your own conclusions. Whether or not I got food poisoning there or not, the lamb was lunchmeat-style lamb strips. And I'm not going back. EDIT: It should be noted that the owner posted a reply to this review after contacting me multiple times over the last several months--his story changing on each occasion. I've reported each message (including the one below, IF it is still there), and I've blocked all contact from this guy, but he CONTINUES to post replies, which eventually Yelp notifies me of because owners and users seem to be coded a bit differently. In any case, I wouldn't eat here, and I certainly am not going to talk to a guy who keeps contacting me even though I've asked him not to do so. It's just one review. Let it go. I'd delete it, but then people looking for a good food cart might end up with food poisoning instead. Plus, I'm not a big fan of rewarding harassment. read more

Wow. What can I say. When 1:30 AM comes around, and you've caught yourself a nasty case of the drunchies, this is the place to go! Adam is a great guy and serves up the best Shawarmas and Gyros around! He piles them SO high with meat and veggies and whatever you get, so they are completely stacked and well worth the price. He also makes, bottles, and sells his own garlic sauce that is TO DIE for. There is a sign on his cart that more people should remember: Good food isn't always cheap, and cheap food isn't always good. 10/10 would drunkenly eat again. visited here the other day and i had my mind blown away by this simple shawarma...i mean all it took was some super special garlic sauce, grilled onions, grilled lamb, and french fries...all rolled into one massive wrap and BOOM, you got yourself a legitimate late night/drunk meal... tender pieces of succulent lamb...creamy garlic sauce...and crispy french fries...all rolled into one wrap...like fat person sensory overload...my kinda meal.. whether you live around town or are just visiting the area...make sure you bundle up and go here for a late night bite...you will not be disappointed!!! read more

Ok so I've been meaning to write this review for quite a while now. The food here is incredible. Like seriously incredible. I order the chicken (or lamb) shawarma wrap and it is unbelievable. Adam piles it up with meat, sauces, greens, and finishes it off with a heaping dose of homemade french fries. I repeat, he puts fries IN THE WRAP. Once I eat it I think about it for the next week because it's so good. The cart is located conveniently along 3rd street so if you're wandering from bar to bar make sure to make a stop at this cart. Food aside, Adam is an awesome guy. He's funny, personable, and loves to chat while he makes you the food. I highly recommend checking the cart out when you're nearby, you wont regret it! read more

I love trying new places and new foods. When I drove by this gem and figured what heck, let's give it a shot. When I walked in I was immediately greeted by a warm smile and great service. I wasn't sure what to get and he was more than willing to take the time to explain whatever I asked about, I never felt rushed. After a few questions I had to try the lamb plate.... It was AMAZING! The lamb was cooked to perfection, rice was great and not bland, the hummus went with the meal like it was just meant to be and there was a side of greens that really kept this meal from being redundant. I couldn't finish the meal because the helping was PLENTY! I'm glad too because after painting a house I was STARVING and was afraid of trying a new place for fear of the helpings not being decent. There was great service and great food so I had to come back the next day! I had the lamb gyro, and I recommend to anyone (but bring an appetite). My boyfriend and I love this place! Although we live in the Bay Area, CA we always make sure to stop by and see Adam King of Shawarma. If you want a good Gyro go here you will not be displeased. Adam makes his own specialty sauce and boy is this good! In addition, he places fries that are crisp and fresh which add another dimension to your typical gyro. Adam's Shawarma in Portland has been my favorite place to eat in a city full of great food since I moved to Oregon. The Lamb Gyros are second to none and I have had no problem convincing friends to come with me. My girlfriend lives in Berkeley and each time she's come up to visit me, we've gone to Adam's. Crispy fresh french fries, two tender lamb steaks, lettuce, onion, and tomato topped off with Adam's own special garlic sauce and a hefty portion of Siracha hot sauce, for those who take it spicy, all wrapped in a warm, gigantic pita. Oh, and hummus... DON'T forget the hummus. (And that's just one of the twenty something equally delicious menu items, and my personal favorite.) Adam is a great guy too boot.
