Not a great doctor. He was very quick and rushed out which I actually didn't have a problem with, my issue is he coded my chart incorrectly. I had an annual exam that is all 100% free and he some how managed to mess that up by coding it incorrectly and getting charged for preventative labs. Do NOT go to Dr. Arun Patel if you have another choice. He makes you wait for your appointment (in an empty lobby) and then rushes to be done with you as soon as possible. I can't help but feel like he is sexist... he downplays the severity of my medical conditions and doesn't take my concerns seriously simply because I am a young woman. He DOES NOT LISTEN at ALL! Here's an actual conversation I had with him recently: Me "I have multiple skin tags in areas that really bother me. They rub against my clothes and the friction is painful sometimes, so I want to have the skin tags removed. Could you please refer me to a dermatologist ?" Dr Patel "Skin tags aren't a big deal and there's no reason to have them removed, unless they are bothering you" Me "They ARE bothering ME." Dr Patel "So what, you want a referral or something? Is that it?" Me "Yes. I want a referral." As I was answering his last question, he walked OUT of the room while waiving me off over his shoulder. There was a young woman medical practitioner shadowing him that day, and she apologized for the DOCTOR's rude behavior and assured me she would check my paperwork and send a referral my way. Had to visit Dr. Patel for a referral to keep seeing my GI doctor and liver transplant doctor. He made me feel rushed and would not refer me back to my transplant clinic. Instead told me to see his son who is a hepatologist. That's not how that works when you have a liver transplant you are a patient with that hospital for life. He also told me that my referral back to my ortho was a waste of time and I shouldn't have surgery because I'm young "and if it's not broke don't fix it" (I have OA and a torn meniscus) do not go here! At first, I was happy with Dr Patel. I've had heart skips for years and when I first visited him, he spent sometime asking questions and prescribing me medication to help my heart. I felt better, but as time passed, my condition worsened and I periodically visited Dr. Patel for more help. He eventually sent me to a cardiologist and went for test. The cardio test came back normal "as always" but I continued to complain to Dr Patel about my heart skips and chest pain. As time went by visits took longer, and the time he spent with me decreased. He had nothing new to say about my heart condition or nothing more to help me with. He always said it might be anxiety and continued to brush it off. I told Dr. Patel I was recently in a car accident and had pain in my back and neck. Dr. Patel ran out of the exam room and retrieved a form he began to fill out with questions about the accident. So, before I left he prescribed me pain medication and muscle relaxers. He also said to give him the insurance information of where he can send the bill. My next visit was due. I waited an hour in the waiting room and another 15 minutes in the exam room before I walked out. It was taking too long to be seen so I told the front desk receptionist that I would have to reschedule. The female didn't seem apologetic about it. She just took my name and new visit date. After I got home, I got a call from the receptionist lady asking that Dr. Patel wanted to know if I had the insurance information so he can send the bills. So, INSTEAD of them calling to see how I am doing or the concern for my health, Dr. Patel was more interested in getting the insurance information. I really don't recommend Dr. Patel if you are seriously ill and seeking for help with something more serious then a common cold. read more

I have had family go here for years and finally my dad decided to give in and set Dr. Patel as our primary care. Bad idea. My initial appointment went decent, he administered my shots and gave me paperwork to get my blood test done. I went back today for a follow up. The office staff was very dysfunctional. The staff and the doctor were bickering with each other and very annoyed with each other. Being in the atmosphere was very awkward. He later referred to me as "this lady". I felt disrespected immediately. I too work in the health care profession and referring to any patient as "this lady or this man" is very unprofessional. After I asked when I would get my blood test results in he immediately handed me off to one of his staff members and walked away. This lady helping me wasn't any better. She rudely asked if I wanted to wait or I wanted them to call me back with the results, not even explaining to me that if I wanted to wait I could get my results faxed. After I decided to wait, she called out my name from the office put my results back and walked away before I could even get up to the window. The doctor didn't even sit down to take a look at my results or even go over them with me. I don't understand what the point of paying my copay to this doctor was when he couldn't even take time out. Dr. Patel was the most unprofessional doctor I have ever been to. My appointment time was at 9:30 and the staff was so disorganized that I finally met with him for my physical at 11:30. Dr. Patel and his team did not apologize and rudely turned their backs when I was asking why the two hour wait. Dr. Patel then demanded my co-payment and when I told him my insurance would cover it, he continued to ask for it and gave no ear to any of my comments. Dr. Patel has been our family doc for around 30 years and I must say he is amazing at what he does and ultimately he goes above and beyond! Dr. Patel has made sure my grandmother is well taken care I mean she's almost 90 years old, as well as other family members including myself to stay in great shape. They will see you and treat you for a very reasonable prices, its god-send for those without insurance. I have been there for few different visit for my parents care and my own symptoms of flu/cough several times, again nothing serious stuff but was taken care of quickly and given reasonably priced generic meds to get better. Elena from the front desk is the only one who is nice and seems to know what is going on, other than her, the Dr. Is arrogant and greasy looking, you cant get a word in with out him cutting you off and he doesnt listen.The office was dead and I was called to the exam room. I wanted to wait after a few office visits before I write a review. After 3 visits, I have concluded to go elsewhere. I am a nurse and know the rules and regulation of patient care and the management of a clinic/hospital, and this place violated a lot of rules. Office staff: Very unprofessional. They gossip all the time.....and VIOLATED HIPPA! I can hear them speaking out loud of the patient's name and their condition. If i were working for an insurance agency, i could have written the patient's names and condition down and drop the patient of their insurace if they have an expensive condition (like HIV for an example). Sounds harsh? Yes. But that's reality. That's how HIPPA works where everything is suppose to be confidential. If they are careless with this type of information, imagine if they "accidentally" dialed the wrong number on a fax machine and fax your personal information to the wrong place. There are other ways to communicate about a pt, like pointing to their files and not verbally say it out loud for everyone to hear. The LVN has the unhappiest face ever. Office Setting: Very ancient. 80's. Not updated with surroundings. But it is clean. I had an appt for all 3 visits. 1st visit wait: 5 min in front office, and 30 min in exam room. 2nd visit wait time: 10 min in front office and 40 min in exam room. 3rd visit wait time: 50 min in front office and 15 in exam room- they had skipped me. When I addressed this, the nurse (LVN) there blames it on other people. Dr A. Patel: I really like him. He tries to connect with you and ask about your condition and background. But he does tend to rush you out of his office. He knows his work, but the way it is presented and expressed through his environment, I would go elsewhere. I like Dr. Patel, but not the way the office is managed. At first I thought it was my insurance and how they might favor the fancier ones like PPO. It is with great disappointment that I write this review. My aunt has been seen by Dr. Patel for the last 8+ years against my advice. She most recently decided to change practitioners because of his terrible bedside manners and refusal to transfer an Rx. He is so busy answering phone calls, reprimanding his staff, meandering around aimlessly, he forgets you're even there! As for the Rx transfer, he dictates which pharmacy HE wants to send the prescription to, totally unacceptable and unethical. a Walgreens pharmacist called his office for us and told me that Dr. Patel refused to send over the prescription. Are you kidding me? He is adamant about sending it to a pharmacy near his office which leads me to believe they're either friends or have some sort of deal together. He's suggests a cat scan almost yearly w/o good reason. I would hate to say that he is in it for the money and I hope that he is sincere with his diagnosis and treatments. His staff is run down and completely disengaged. How could they operate in a hostile work environment? He reprimands them continually, belittles them and doesn't allow them to have any autonomy. His job is to be a doctor, listen to his patients needs and offer medical advice and diagnosis. It is not to run the office (through terrible micromanagement). Very, very upset about our last visit. Hugest mistake, waiting a total of an hour in his office is ridiculous, and to top it off I barely see him for a minute before he rushes me out of the office. He never requested my specialist since I have many health issues. And every time I would go with health problems he would tell me I'm fine. No dude I'm not fine, I'm coughing my lungs! I have been Dr. Patel's patient for 5 years and have had the best medical care possible. He is very friendly and knowledgeable. He has always accommodated my medical needs in urgent situations without prior appointment. His office staff understands that one can not always predict medical need and schedule an appointment in advance for unforeseen situations and makes sure that I get to see the doctor. He is in the office late and easy to get late evening appointments. I am surprised at some of the comments made by other patients as he has never discussed payment or insurance coverage with me or provided care based on money. As a patient of Dr. Patel's, I can honestly say he is an exceptional health care professional. Similar to reviewer An U., I was treated with respect and consideration during my time in Dr. Patel's office. The wait before seeing the doctor was admittedly lengthy, but Dr. Patel's service was worth the wait. During my appointment, I felt as though he really cared about how I was feeling: he maintained eye contact and listened to everything I said. Furthermore, he made the atmosphere comfortable by making small talk while he took my blood pressure, checked my lungs, etc. Dr. Patel's staff is also welcoming. Upon entering the office, I was greeted with a smile. I saw Dr. Patel and he said everything was good nothing wrong. few weeks later I started feeling dizzy I made an appointment to come in to see what was happening to me. I saw dr. Patel he checked my previous results he said everything was normal. he gave me some high blood pressure medicine, and some sea sick pills for my dizziness. 3 day past and was still feeling the same effects dizziness and was feeling tired no energy. Do not go to this doctor if at all possible. I have had bad insurance my whole life so I've spent a lot of time in shady doctor's offices but Dr. Patel is by far the very worst I have ever been to. Trying to get a referral to a specialist is next to impossible. Dr. Patel has made me come back to visit him every six weeks (with blood work each time) for a condition that requires one to two doctor's visits per year. I know this because I've been treated by several different doctors for the same condition over the years. None of them made me come in more than twice a year. Clearly Dr. Patel is trying to make a dishonest profit by forcing patients to come in for unnecessary visits and completely unnecessary tests. I would not mind so much if I thought it was not hurting me, however this doctor keeps changing my prescription dosage every six weeks which is not healthy at all. When I try to bring this up he treats me like a child and brushes me off. I want to file a complaint against him. Is this considered malpractice? I'm just afraid of retaliation if he or his staff were to figure out I had complained (did I mention his staff is rude and temperamental). This doctor is only there to collect a co-payment! There are about 4 or 5 patients who are given the same appointment time, which explains why you are forced to sit in the waiting room for an hour and a half. And I wouldn't mind waiting either if the doctor cared even one bit about his patients' problems. For a couple hours wait, he sees you for a minute and quickly rushes through without listening to what the actual problem is. I totally disagree with the last reviewer and seems suspect. .If Dr Patels office was not for her aunt why did her aunt go to Dr Patels office for 8 years plus.My parents and myself are Dr Patels patients for past 20 years.My parents are old and cannot drive so Dr Patel recommends a pharmacy which delivers medications at home without any extra charge We did not have any problems in getting my parents medications or my medications in time .My mother has a growth on her adrenal glands and Dr Patel suggests cat scan periodically.Dr Patel office is the only office which is open on Saturdays in that area which is very convenient for me to bring my parents to his office.I take my parents to Dr Patels office on regular basis and I go sometimes for my own medical needs.Dr Patel is a very caring doctor who treats patients as his family members. His is very courteous and very knowledgeable My dad is alive because of Dr Patel. He discovered a critical blockage in his coronary arteries by his cat scan which did calcium scoring . My dad underwent angioplasty and is fine now His charges are almost half of an internist for cash paying patients. He hands out samples and suggest generic medications for cash paying patients. Few months ago I brought my uncle to Dr Patels office with chest pains. My uncle did not have insurance. Dr Patel examined my uncle did EKG drew blood of cardiac enzymes all for $ 85. The whole process was done in 15 mins by his very efficient staff. He dropped the sample to the lab during his lunch hours so he can get the results of the test right away.Thank god my uncle was not having a heart attack. Dr Patel arranged a treadmill test for my uncle with a cardiologist the same day. My uncle saved more than $ 5000 if Dr Patel had sent my dad to Saint Jude Hospital in Fullerton .Dr Patel has a huge waiting room with a television which has broadcasts health related topics. His office is clean It is not very flashy. I see Kathy, Sumi, Ruth and Renate in Dr Patels office for past 20 years. If Dr Patel did not treat his staff nicely or vice versa they would not be working for Dr Patel for more than 20 years.I would recommend Dr Patel to anybody. read more

dr arun patel and his business has many faults. his offices are old and drab. the same office and examining rooms and furniture since the late 1980's. nothing has changed. the same posters, the same diagrams, the same broken equipment that is never used, yet has not and will never get thrown away. there are way too many people working in the reception area. at any given moment, there can be 6 people in one little reception area and none of them are really doing anything since dr patel is a huge mico manager and insists on doing everything himself (dialing phone numbers, making phone calls, sending out faxes, pulling files, maxing xerox copies...). I waited in the examining room for 1 hour (after waiting in the outside waiting room for 45 minutes), after about 30 minutes, dr patel finally came in. i told the dr that i have constant back pain. i told the dr that i had an mri, xray. and sonagram on my back done at the ER last winter. but dr patel insisted that i get them all done again. he refused to prescribe me anything for my pain, told me to take advil. i told the dr that i already take advil and that i came to see him because i wanted something stronger for my back pain. he refused and made a rude remark about how he was not a drug peddler and that i may have an addiction problem. dr patel is one of the main examples of why i have lost faith in modern medicine. I do no understand why my review, as well as a few other negative review has been filtered. Only the 5 and 4 star reviews are not filtered. I visited Dr. Patel's office once and that was enough. The wait time was 1.5 hours in the waiting room, and 30 minutes in the dirty exam room. Finally after getting to meet the doctor, he was preoccupied. He saw me for a total of 10 minutes, taking a personel phone call in the middle of my appointment. He was not interested in anything I was trying to tell him, and acted like he had better things to do. Room has carpet on the floor (how can you keep that clean!) and Bugs crawling on the walls. My family has been patients of Dr. Patel's for over 30 years. He treated my father, my aunt, my mother, my nephews and I have referred countless patients (friends and family) to him over the years. That being said I will never go to him for medical attention again. I have asthma and have had it since I was 6 months old. I work full time and have 4 children and do not have the time to come in every 10 months to get a refill for something that I will have the rest of my life. I was out of my prescription and had the Walgreens call in the prescription and it was denied without even a phone call notifying me of this denial. He would not even take the time to speak with me over the phone in fact flat out refused! I'm sure his reasoning for not refilling my prescription is because he wants the copay for me to come in for an office visit. Sad that the only thing this man cares about is berating his staff and MONEY!! Again I will never refer another friend or family member and will urge his current patients to seek medical attention from a reputable caring doctor. Shame on you Dr. Patel!! You were able to come to my fathers funeral and pass out Xanax to my mother like it was candy but can't take 5 minutes of your time to refill a prescription for an inhaler (a life threatening medical necessity)!!!
