Got to my appointment and was told my appointment has been canceled because they called a wrong number to confirm and because that wasn't my number and I didn't respond to the message I never received they canceled me. In order to establish care with Dr. Zand the wait is 4-7 months. So Janice the PA saw me and told me my lungs are clear and there is nothing wrong with me and just because I'm coughing nonstop she gave me an inhaler! My condition got worse by the next morning and this time I decided to go Urgent Care on Chapman in Orange and was examined by Dr. Kwan and was diagnosed with bronchitis and sinusitis, he put me on prednisone and antibiotics, he was so good and so caring, just too bad he doesn't have his own practice! read more

My mom had back surgery and was prescribed pain medication in the hospital. After she left the hospital she was transferred to a skilled nursing facility for about two weeks. When she came home, her first appointment was with Dr Salmi in 4/8. The doctor said he was refilling her pain medication and that she can pick it up from the pharmacy at any time when she runs out. They even confirmed which pharmacy to send it into. Fast forward to 4/14 - we called the pharmacy to make sure the pain medication was there and ready to be picked up...nope! They said they never received prescription for this medication. of course it was the weekend so we had to call numerous times and big The receptionist to contact Dr Salmi. They never returned our calls all day. We called a third time and the receptionist said "Dr Salmi said to call back during regular business hours." So we did... he left you my messages on the phone and through the portal. No one will call us back! After doing a little digging through my mom's appointment notes, I was able to figure out that they had accidentally sent the prescription to the nursing facility! They knew my mom wasn't there anymore !!!!! So if you have any type of painful condition avoid this office like the plague. My mom is in a level 10 pain and we still can't get anyone to call us back. The last time I went to see Dr Zand I got my name called by staff member who directed me to the exam room to wait for him. Normal wait time during that time is about 5-10 minutes. I waited 45 minutes. I was about to leave when he finally showed up. He never apologized or explained why he was late. Instead he was all fake smiling and pretending that he was happy to see me. It would have been more courteous and professional to apologize and explain reason for keeping me waiting as long as I did instead of misusing his charisma. read more

The office staff made so many mistakes. The Nurse Practitioner was attentive, but the referrals and communication after the appointment was disappointing. I have the same insurance and have never had to do so much of my own legwork in figuring out referrals that were made to places no longer doing business there. I've been going to Dr. Zand for several years and the past few visits have been very rushed and unprofessional. You're just a number there. He can't get out of the room fast enough and doesn't seem interested in having a conversation or answering questions as a pertains to your health. I would highly recommend Dr Zand. He has been my primary care physician for several years. He is very patient and will explain medical issues (even draws pictures) in a way to ensure his patients understand. I also brought my mother down from Northern California due to her Alzheimer's s in order to see him. Due to the Alzheimer's disease my mother was paranoid, scared, agitated and did not want to go to the doctors. Dr Zand was amazing with her. He was so compassionate. I had no idea how that doctor's visit was going to go (because of the Alzheimer's my normally very well-behaved mother had been making terrible scenes at her previous doctor). Dr Zand began by just talking to her about things she used to do as a teenager, sports she liked to do, Seattle (where she grew up) and completely put her at ease. This was so different then the other doctors who immediately gave her the Mini-Mental State exam, which scared her (at some level she understood her cognitive decline and didn't want a test to prove it). Dr Zand understood this and was able to thoroughly assess her while keeping her calm. Once again I would highly recommend Dr Zand and his staff. I first met Dr Zand over 15 years ago when he was my parents Primary Care Physician. I was amazed at how patient and caring he was to both my parents. My father would often get confused and Dr Zand would be so incredibly compassionate with him. My mother adored him. Although my mother had several strokes and saw several doctors, she was always so happy to see Dr Zand. He would always explain everything to us. As a family member, I would call with questions and concerns, and he would always call back in a timely manner. He was such a wonderful doctor to my parents, that I transferred to him. I started with a new HMO plan this year. I admit that I was a little anxious about the process and have heard stories about wait times to get into an office in an HMO setting. I called and was offered an appointment in 8 days. I downloaded the new patient paperwork from their website and brought this with me completed. I sat in the waiting room under 5 minutes and was in the room under 5 minutes before Dr. Zand walked in. Dr. Zand was friendly and made me feel happy to have made him my PCP. He walked me thru what my care plan was and what he wanted me to do. He had recommendations that he text to me. Had me save his contact and let me know he was available via messaging should I ever be in the ER and need to contact him. Upon checking out, I was given a print out of the visit I had with the recommendations he gave to me during the visit. My return appointment was made at that time. I have decided after two years and In spite of favorable reviews my experience has been a negative one. Unfortunately he and his office staff are not organized, disrespectful and untruthful. During my last three consecutive visits ... 1.- Several months ago I arrived early as usual, was taken into the examination room to wait for the doctor .. well .. I was tired and fell asleep and woke up 2 hours later !!, still inside the examination room (yes 2 hours no kidding). I had to leave for another appointment. Went to the front desk attendant who simply looked at me and called "someone" to tell them I was leaving because I couldn't wait!!! - Never even apologizing or asking me for another appointment or trying to find out why I was "abandoned" for two hours ... 2.- Several months after that I again arrived early and taken to the examination room to wait for the doctor. After 1 hour!! inside I was just leaving when the doctor walked in and told me he had an emergency and sometimes things happen ... well ... yes - ok .... shouldn't someone come in and advise that the doctor is running late ... hmmm. I wonder? 3.- Several months again after, I again arrived early and placed inside the examination room, and again waited for 1 hour ( yes 1hr.). I got dressed and went to the front attendant who, as before, didn't care much if I left or why I was left there unattended. While I was waiting the doctor kept visiting his other appointments and I don't believe he was ever told I was there, I will never know, as I was hearing him go back and forth and attending to the patient in the adjacent room and opening closing doors in other rooms. The front staff as usual could care less that I was unattended and never offered to make another appointment or find out why it happened. I informed the lady I was never coming back and that I will send someone to get my medical records and if she wanted a release form signed. She said no need for a form but there will a $15 "minimum" charge depending on how many pages she had to copy. She then mad a copy of my "lab test results" (free on line!), and that was "all" my medical records for two years and to worry that there would not be a $15 charge. Dear Dr. Zand and staff ... it is much better to "wait" in the lobby for an hour than locked up inside an examination room with your clothes off. Common courtesy and good business practice demands that if a "customer" is leaving for being ignored, or, has a complaint it should be addressed. The staff at this office is a disservice to the Dr. and patients, and lie to him to cover their inept procedures. The Dr. apparently doesn't care much either, since he keeps making excuses for them. read more

I have never had a dr treat me worse. I was asking for help because I couldn't walk anymore and needed to be hospitalized for back surgery. I was crying and he screamed at me to be quiet that he was in a hurry and only had so much time. It was awful. When I left I told the nurse I think I needed to be hospitalized and she said sorry he wasn't going to help me. I ended up calling an ambulance from home unable to walk at all anymore from severe back disc herniation..my sciatic was almost completely pinched on.both legs. My neurosurgeon said he can't believe I was sent home. I honestly will tell Dr Zand , your own staff kept apologizing to me for the horrible way you acted. Your nurse told me she was so embarrassed when you left the room. Shame on you. You took an oath medically to help. It's evident to me that you didn't honor it. Dr Zand was recommended to me by my orthopedic surgeon, Dr Carlson. I've been seeing Dr Zand for at least 5 years and he is easily one of the best doctors I've ever had. Dr Zand is not a drug guy, like some doctors. Most of what he tells me I should take is herbal or mineral. He's not the guy that will just prescribe you a pill to prescribe you a pill. I've read reviews where people complain of the front office staff. You can't see they're busy? They get me signed in right away and aren't rude to me. The back office staff is nice and attentive as well. And as far as long waits, yeah, most times I have to wait, and sometimes for a while. I have found that to be the case in healthcare nowadays. My PT is a close friend and I have to wait quite a while for him. Dr Zand is great. read more

I was initially very impressed with the Drs knowledge on various subjects. I was initially very disturbed with his office staff. He has his office staff take your medical history instead of having you fill out a medical history form. This means that a non medical staff member is recording medical information she doesn't know about or understand. The Dr recommended special tests for me to take -now the really disturbing part. A receptionist called me to tell me the bad results of the test , not the Dr . So I was left upset with no way to get my questions answered. I told her I needed to speak with the Dr . It's now the next day and he hasn't called me back. I called today to ask to speak the Dr and the receptionist who answered the phone proceeded to tell me more bad test results. I presume that's a HIPAA violation. The receptionist sitting at the front desk had access to my records and talks to me about them at the front desk in front of everyone. I'm horrified! And still the Dr hasn't called me back. This is very poor patient consideration. I'm horrified at how little respect the Dr has for his patients. read more

He was very polite and took his time going over test results and answering our questions which helped relieve some of the pre-surgery nerves. He is very charismatic. When I went to see Dr. Zand it was a blind appointment. Dr. Zand was performing a pre surgery check to make sure I was ok to undergo surgery. Let's get one thing out in the open: I'm one of those guys that hates going to the doctor. I hate not being able to do things on my own or take care of myself. Dr. Zand and his staff were a shockingly positive experience. It made me reevaluate the level of care I was getting from my regular doctor and the level of service of the staff at other offices. I was not forced to wait a long time, they were ready for my appointment in time. They treated me like I wish every doctor/office staff would treat me. Today was my first appointment at Dr Zand 's office and it was absolutely perfect. All the ladies that helped me out, from the front desk, to the assistant that took my vital, and the one that was accompanying Dr Zand himself, and the one helping me at checkout were very friendly and efficient at what they were doing. It shows that they're all happy to be working together because they're in a good mood and don't hesitate to pass complements! No hiccups whatsoever (which some would still be considered human). Dr Zand himself was amazing. Exactly as others had mentioned, very caring and attentive. Poor guy was really sick with a cold and had cancelled other afternoon patients but because I was a new patient he stayed to see me too make sure I didn't have a dire medical need. He patiently listened to all my questions (mind you, I had a laundry list since it had been a few years since my last checkup), answered in detail and ordered the lab and X-ray that I needed and asked to schedule followup. He explained that they will always contact me regarding results they get back from labs and even have me detail on how to login to their site. I was very very impressed! And to top it off they don't make you wait long at all (again... Would be normally expected in an office with this many patients and with the uncertainty of what patients life throws at the doc... Be careful whom you trust! Dr. Zand was recommended by a board certified surgeon. So i did not check his credentials thoroughly. if I had realized that he graduated from a medical school in Grenada, I definitely would not have gone to him. So, I learned a lesson the hard way. To cut my shaggy dog story short, he misdiagnosed me and cut a prescription in half causing me to hemorrhage and need surgery. Obviously, being a retired healthcare professional I should have done my homework and checked this incompetent board certified internist's background thoroughly. I didn't and I suffered the consequences. Finally, his staff is rude and unprofessional. ... ...And the wait in the "WAITING ROOM" is L- O- N- G-- --45 to 60 minutes average for me. read more
