Upon looking for a new PCP for my husband ,I had asked several of
my patients that are employed at St. Joseph hospital in Orange for a referral to a good internal medicine physician near the hospital.
They had said that Michael Del Junco would be a good bet.
We waited 6 weeks but were willing to wait since it was a Medicare
evaluation. My husband completed all testing, blood and a chest CT
being a former smoker, and found there was a small spot on lung area,
and to return for a follow up in December. My husband also has severe sleep apnea uses a C PAP for 25 years and has been on nuvigil
for the past 20 years as prescribed by his 2 previous internists who have both since retired..
Fast forward to September 2025, and my husband broke his hip, had
A full hip replacement, was in rehab for a week and referred back to see Del junco. It was noted on his bloodwork from his first visit to Del junco his hemoglobin was very low and blood work was off. He asked
if he had a colonoscopy and we called our gastroenterologist and
he was not seeing patients for 2 months due to family emergency.
After repeating his bloodwork again after the hip surgery, it was noted
many of the blood counts were even worse.
I phoned his office on 4 different occasions, spoke to the office staff
And medical asst and was told Del junco was out of town and would reach out after his return to go over test results. I was able to go on my quest to get results myself, in which I had told his staff about my concern.
Last week being Novemeet 12, we got a call saying the Dr. had phoned in an iron rx , in which he can't take due to previous ulcer and stomach upset from iron. We called the pharmacy and no rx was ever called in.
Last Friday I myself called his office and asked them why we were never called to go over results, all she said was did he see the gastro yet and I explained we were waiting for him to return mid December.
His assistant MARIA said she would call back at 2 to give us another name Of a Dr.
I never received a call back on 11/14 so I again called at 4:45 pm and was told to get OTC gummies.
I was also told this Dr. does not allow RX for nuvigil, even though his last 2 physicians have prescribed a low dose for 20 years .
Too bad our previous physicians retired,
