Soon as we sat down salad bowl and hot bread is served, which is a plus. I like that. Fried calamari was very tender, i like crispier. Baked clams were very good, especially the sauce. Fried mozzarella is a must, order it definitely!!! For the main courses. If you are named an Italian restaurant, YOU HAVE TO COOK AL DENTE. Ordered chicken francese, chicken was good but pasta was overcooked!!! Creme brûlée was average. At the end asked the tortellini soup to go, it was put in an aluminum container, REALLY!!! One of our favorite restaurants. Penne vodka with chicken cutlet is usually my go-to and is my favorite and delicious. My husband really likes the chicken scarp. Large portions!! No problem asking for more complimentary bread. Clams Oreganata would have been better without bacon flavor. I ate the Chicken Valdestano, breaded chicken cutlet layered with prosciutto, mushrooms, mozzarella, in a marsala wine sauce. My dish was heavily sauced but nice flavor. Came with salad and side of pasta. Went with several friends who each had different entrees. We were all offered to have the sauce of our entree on pasta or marinara. I had penne with marinara. One friend had chicken francese with a angel hair spaghetti with francese sauce on pasta. Salad was served family style in what I'd describe as "old school" iceberg lettuce , tomato, onions, olives, with a heavy vinegar and oil dressing. First time there and pleasantly surprised All of the apps and entrees met with good review . Veal parm , oriechettte with sausage and rabe, pork chops with peppers and onions ( two nice chops in a bed of potatoes topped with peppers and onions ) They have a very nice happy hour featuring main shelf liquor and pour a very healthy martini and Manhattan . Arturo's - a restaurant I've went to as a little kid. While the food has always been good, I recall my parents refusing to go there again ... complaining about poor service and meat coming out overdone. Always thought my parents were being overly critical - who doesn't when they're a teenager? Fast forward to Mother's Day 2024. My wife, three kids, and I joined my in laws for Mother's Day dinner 2024. Calamari, salad, bread and wine were tasty. I brought my 4 year old daughter for the obligatory bathroom break. All was ok. On my way back to the table, I was greeted by family telling me to be cautious approaching the table. I was told one of the managers (Steve) had knocked a bottle of oil onto the floor from a neighboring table shattering the glass under our table. These things happen. They're accidents. I shouldn't care or mind. Right? My daughter, whom we cautioned to stand still, decided to walk to her seat. She slipped and fell onto her back, slamming her head on the floor. She ultimately was ok, but obviously, that was upsetting. The manager, Steve, came over and explained how it was an accident and how it happens frequently. He proceeded to toss salt on the floor explaining how it would help. He did ask if she was ok. Then, we noticed a piece of glass in my wife's arm. She showed it to the manager, and he said "ok so I'll take your plates and replace them with new plates". Then, he hesitatingly offered to replace our calamari with a new one given glass found in my wife's arm and on the table. We accepted the offer. The calamari never came until I asked at the end of our meal. Food came, and we were rushed through our meal since a party was due to arrive after ours. My meat came medium-well despite ordering medium-rare (but it was still tender/tasty). They offered to take off the bill the order of calamari from our check (total check was over $260). I mentioned to them I was highly disappointed given the incident, and the disruption it caused to our meal. Steve kept telling us he can't do much more and he went to the bar and argued with his fellow employees over how much to comp us. I do credit him for trying. They did give us an entree and two drinks off in addition to the calamari. We made sure we tipped the waitress well, it was not her fault. It's unfortunate we had such a frustrating experience. The food is good. And for us, it's not about the money or about the mistake of dropping oil on the floor. It's about the principal of management writing it off as no big deal despite my daughter falling on her back, and my wife getting glass in her arm. We will not be returning to Arturo's. Now I know what my parents were talking about 25 years ago. read more

We came for a family get together to celebrate a birthday. I recommended this venue because I used to eat here but that was a good 20 years ago. Well, that was then and this is now. The food turned out to be underwhelming at best. Where do I begin? The salad was very good but could've used a little extra vinegar. The bread was delish and we couldn't get enough of it. The fried zucchini looked like dried up dark banana peels flattened in a bowl and tasted like dried overcooked chewy strips. The fried calamari was rubbery, anemic looking and the breading was tasteless. The mozzarella stick wedges were very good. The chicken piccata was not what I expected. It looked like two small cutlets that were poached (not browned or even somewhat breaded) and some clear sauce slathered on with a sprinkling of capers. The taste matched the visual description too. Bland and boring. My sister ordered the chicken Marsala and it was mediocre at best. The Marsala lacked a good taste of the wine. It was bland. The chicken cacciatore wasn't liked by a guest and ended up being returned. The chicken parm seemed good and had no complaints. So maybe that is the best bet if you come here. The service was so slow and inconsistent that none of us wanted to complain because it would take forever to get a replacement meal. The staff seemed inexperienced and when asked to pack up our cake, they stuffed it into a tin so it was completely demolished. The ambience is reminiscent of a lodge. There are so many restaurants in this area. Why oh why did offer this as a suggestion. read more

I've dined here twice before and always enjoyed the food. However, after eating there last Saturday, both my friend and I became severely ill. The doctor at Urgent Care diagnosed me with Norovirus, likely contracted from a sick individual who handled our food. I was later sent to the ER for IV fluids. I will never eat here again! Clearly, someone in the kitchen or wait staff failed to disclose their illness. Given the severity of this virus, they must have been unwell for days--unless they were rushing to the bathroom during their shift. Such carelessness is unacceptable. Management must enforce strict cleanliness standards, including requiring staff to wear gloves and masks. read more

Perfect place to meet friends for drinks at the bar have a few appetizers like they're wonderful margarita pizza or the fried calamari. Their martinis are always well crafted and you won't find a more extensive martini menu anywhere else! My family and I have had many dinners at Arturo's Tavern. I have always enjoyed such specialties as veal, marsala, or one of their wonderful pasta dishes, where you can choose the type of pasta and the sauce as well as the meats. Came in on a Thursday night and it was quite busy so I was hopeful. Our family was the youngest in the restaurant so I wondered if they were having an AARP night. Husband said he felt like he was at the kids table at his uncle's house. All joking aside, the service was good. Unfortunately the food wasn't memorable. Salad with oil and vinegar was placed on the table and it was simple but delicious. The bread came out a few minutes later and it was refrigerator cold on the inside but we ate it since we were starving. The kids ordered penne ala vodka which was bland. My pesto tasted terrible - husband said it was Alfredo sauce with some green stuff thrown in. His chicken parm was the okay but a little bland in his opinion. I liked the mildness of the sauce and that the chicken was substantial. Kids enjoyed the cheesecake for dessert but the adults weren't compelled to try anything. All in all it's a laid back restaurant with okay food. May or may not come back. Hubby says yes, I say no. Sorry for no pictures but we were starving. Isn't food supposed to taste better when you're hungry? Finally, while we were waiting for our check to be picked up, the tables next to us weren't cleaned off after the patrons left. They tried to seat us in the corner where the staff have their meals, mean while half the restaurant was empty, when we asked for a different table we were told they were reserved and that we can go somewhere else for dinner. Decided to pop in for dinner tonight and was disappointed as soon as I walked in. The place is so dark I wasn't even sure if they were open. We walked in and were seated, the table was pretty small and wobbly, the chair wasn't in good shape either. They just put a salad bowl and a clunky water pitcher with a bread basket, there wasn't any room on the table. I ordered a $12 chocolate martini and they served it very plain, no chocolate shavings or any presentation at all. The steak was chewy. Thank God I got tipsy from the martini that's why I put 2 stars. I don't go out often but I won't be visiting Arturo's anytime soon. read more

OK went back to this place again amazing martinis I had the chocolate one. And first you sit down they bring your bread and they bring you a whole salad without even asking for it. I love it. Did the appetizers we had both clams with the garlic sauce I highly recommend. They all are good but the one with the garlic sauce is tops. Again we actually just went with a lot of appetizers. We also had the Broccoli rob sausage appetizer which was a special there was so much of the broccoli Rob it look like a meal. Actually all the appetizers are so large we ended up taking them home because they were so much. the hot antipasto had clams those clams were baked and they were good to the only thing was weird to see in the mix was fried mozzarella sticks. The shrimp was great in the hot antipasto the fried calamari was not Chewie but it's interesting it didn't have much of a taste. All in all this place is great I never give five stars unless they blow me away and I've been blown away. LOL read more

Everyone in my party throughly enjoyed our mess. The waitress was very sweet and attentive! Finished with double espresso and a cappuccino which where delic! Came back in March '19 to see Johnny B who was great! A little disappointed as there was a "4 course diner n show menu" which no one mentioned when we made reservations. Like how they always start u with house salad but didn't like how they counted it as one of the courses. Food was good but some of the portions were small such as eggplant rolletini on app section and veal on entree portion. I will say the chocolate cake with hazelnut filling was outstanding. With that said my waitress took it upon herself without my knowledge or consent to apply a 20% gratuity and I didn't notice until my wife pointed it out. I recently started using Door Dash, it's been great. Every weekend we try a different Restaurant. Well this Sunday we tried Arturo's. Big Mistake! Worst Steak I ever got. The tendon went through it so much it's wasn't edible. I think they gave me this cut of meat on Purpose. The tendon was just to Dam obvious. I wouldn't even give to my dog in the fear he would choke on it. I called, they said, "Sorry, we'll let the Chef know." Didn't ask for my name or number. Pasta was also over cooked, gave that to my pup. It was ugly and so obvious, I thought about hanging it on their door with a note, "Returned to Sender!" Is what it is! In reference to Corey L's review of Arturo's - Mothers Day 2024. Arturo's did an awesome job, as they always do. As a witness to the entire incident, accidents do happen as everyone involved agreed. The incident was cleaned up promptly and everyone went on resuming dinner with the exception of the irresponsible father who neglected to keep his daughter safe. Although she completely recovered and was laughing and fine within 5 minutes, the dad was still in pain, trying to figure out how he could capitalize on getting his meal for free. Sat with a puss on his face for the rest of the dinner, after gorging down the excellent food. Then the bill arrived and he started complaining again. Up to this point they had given him free food free drinks and couldn't apologize enough times for the incident. He wanted nothing to do with it, he refused to shake the host hand in apology, and he demanded a free meal. He claims he was from Armonk, and his father was in the restaurant business, and everything was unacceptable, except when he was chowing down the food. I commend the staff at Arturo's, their speedy clean up of the mishap, and the tolerance for such a whiny irresponsible parent. The upside is that they won't be coming back to Arturo's. For the record their bill was over $300 (because they never charged him for the apps and some of the drinks, then as a nice gesture, they took another $150 off their bill that he neglects to mention. So when he says that it's not about the money, it's all about the money. read more

I went with my boyfriend last night during restaurant week. We made a reservation so we were seated immediately, the owner asking if we preferred to sit by the door or window. Other than a great waitress, This was probably the best part of the night. Our salad came and I told my boyfriend to stop eating after a few bites; I had found plastic in it!! The waitress did not charge us for my soda to apologize. For an appetizer, my boyfriend got shrimp wrapped in bacon which also came with fettuccini Alfredo; wasn't great. I had gotten the mozzarella and eggplant dish; it was soaked in dressing that I could barely taste anything BUT the oil. For entrees, my boyfriend ordered the filet of sole but it was very small. I had the penne ala vodka, which was pretty good. My portions were huge so I had to take it home, but don't understand why they would advertise such large portions if my boyfriends dinner was so small. Dessert came and went. My boyfriend tried tiramisu, which wasn't fabulous. I had Tartfo. I doubt I'll be back here to dine anytime soon. read more

It started off good. We got our drinks.The ambiance was good and I was happy.But it slowly went down hill after that. Our appetizer came and we were surprised. Mozzarella bread in gravy was not what I expected but tasted quite good. My main coarse was sole and shrimp in a francese sauce, not very good. My wife's main coarse was baked ziti and it was enough to feed a family of four. The bowl took over the whole table. We weren't sure If we should be amused or disgusted but ended up grossed out by the 2 pounds of pasta left over. After that our waitress ignored us for the rest of the evening. TV blaring in the corner, people taking pics of their large plates of food was all too much for me and we left without being offered dessert. Fate handed my husband and I a last minute date night. We jumped at the chance & chose Arturos for our clandestine outing. We couldn't have chosen better. Me and my boyfriend come here practically once a month for date night, and each time it is spectacular. It's always pretty busy each time and the host will always go out of his way to find us a table, the customer service skills of the waitresses are phenomenal they are all so kind even on the busiest of nights, and to top it off the food is 11/10 absolutely amazing read more

So my wife and I moved to mahopac three years ago and have always been looking for good Italian food. When we lived in the city we were spoiled with Carmine's. We always drove past Arturo's but never went in. Until this past Saturday. Incredible!!!!! The food was fantastic. The service even better. Our server Paola was great. She knew everything about the food. She was very attentive. The sangria was great! Portions are very generous. We took three doggie bags home. We will definitely be back. read more
