I'm gonna be honest... this is a no for me. I tried not to be judgmental, but I just can't do this place again. It looks small and dingy on the outside and I was hoping the inside would wow me. Unfortunately, you walk into what looks like it hasn't been cleaned in years. I instantly started looking for the most recent inspection, but it isn't required to be posted here, and so it wasn't. I'm not sure how they passed, but my fiancé wanted to try this place so there we were. The floors are dirty, benches are worn so badly your butt falls into the interior of the seat below the cushion, the stools are wobbly, EVERYTHING needs dusted, the ceiling tiles are stained with previous leaks, floor tiles are missing, etc. We ordered a drink, 14" inch pepperoni pizza, and 8 breadsticks. This came out to $36 something which is probably average, but I'm not paying that again for the average food. Breadsticks were plain as could be, pizza had a decently thick crust, but was overshadowed by the cheese (and where was the pepperoni?). The people were nice other than an assumed family member going in and out of the kitchen. Overall, it just didn't seem sanitary or like that was a priority at all. As we drove away, I noticed a broken window pane "covered" by a pizza box. Just not something I would recommend unfortunately. read more

My friend had wanted to show me this place for several years. We had an occasion to take a lap lunch into a friend and bought the Italian roast beef sandwich here. It was worth the trip! I will visit again with my DH and introduce him to this tender hot juicy sandwich. They will cut it in half but anything smaller is better done at your plate, it is so juicy. The eating area is small but perfect got a quick quiet lunch. Service was quick and the staff friendly. Pricing was reasonable and once I tasted the sandwich it was an excellent value! read more

My favorite of the Art's gang. The OG is the best. Honestly time management is not their strong point. But the quality of the food is! And talk about a nostalgia trip. Called in for a 16 in pizza and was told it would be 45min. Which I thought was reasonable. Waited my 45 min and went to pu my order. I was met by a very nice guy and was handed my pizza. Got home and the pizza was hot and delicious. Good job Art's Varsity pizza! read more

I ordered ahead and was told a 45 minute wait, I show up 45 minutes later and stood in a room waiting for nearly 20 minutes, one guy was doing everything while another kept going and sitting in the back(I assume an office) after both looked at me several times and still wouldn't help I left. When I called to cancel my order the guy told me it had just come out and hour later. I will never come back to this location again. It's nice you're making the food but when you won't even acknowledge an order that was well over $30 I'm guessing business isn't that good read more

Absolutely the best Italian beef and sausage sandwiches anywhere near Central Indiana. The pizza is always good and full of flavor. A great "old-school, Mom & Pop" establishment. Don't expect fancy, just good. read more

We order Art's at least once a month. We choose to order pizza from Art's on Main St. The last couple of times, the quality has been less than acceptable. So, after calling the restaurant and letting them know they sold me a BURNT pizza I decided I should post about it. The restaurant told me I can bring the pizza back and they would then make me a new pizza. They didn't offer me a discounted or free pizza the next time I ordered from them. They wanted me to box up the burnt pizza and return it that night. I choose to order out, when I don't have time, or the energy to cook that night. So, I didn't have the energy to return to the restaurant. We are the toppings and threw away the crust. read more

I walked into Art's pizza and I was famished to say the least. I hadn't had even a bite to eat all day and it was rush hour so it took me forever to get in. The servers warmly greeted me and almost immediately seated me. Just the smell of the pizza consumed my senses and I was dumbstruck. I bit into a juicy, tender, bready roast beef sandwhich and I felt like i was going to pass out. The food and service at this establishment is the finest I've ever encountered. I've been going to Art's varsity for 40 plus years. Get the round world every time and I'm always 100% satisfying it's the best pizza by far. A beef sandwiches out of this world I don't know how they season their beef but it is awesome. Looked foward to eating a long time favorite in town but received not quite the pizza that I was looking foward to. There was no sausage available period. That should of turned my order elsewhere, but the wheels were in motion so went ahead and spent almost forty bucks for a pizza and roast beef. Pizza was horrible and sandwich was dry. Yes you heard it right, a dry arts roast beef. After contacting the bussiness via facebook received rude comments. Terrible experience. Hope this review helps you not make the same mistake. The roast beef is the original that they served for over 55 years ago. Buy one from one of the other Art's in town and one from Art's Varsity and you'll be surprised how much more meat you get and the bell peppers are big pieces not tiny sliced like the other Art's. Over twice as much meat and big pieces of bell pepper you can't beat their sandwich! You get more ingredients and cheese on the around the world pizza too! read more

It is an Anderson institution and in the (now) hundreds of places I have eaten pizza at, across the country, this place is the best (or at least a top 3). Went there last night. Wanted a Roast Beef with Mango's. They're out of bread, I heard from a customer the same thing happened last Thursday too. Ordered a 9" Hayes took 45 minutes. Crazy! During that time they burnt one pizza and messed up an order for two pizzas( only gave them one). At least 5 people came in and left because of the no bread for the roast beef. On top of that the floor was dirty, it smelled like burnt bread and there were flies flying around the trash can in the dinning area. To bad. My husband loves they're raost beef but I won't be back. Pizza is primo! A landmark in Anderson for decades. Combination Pizza is my favorite. This Pizza blows away all the franchises. The sausage is spicy and the cheese is heavy. I like the fact that their green peppers are fully cooked and the sauce is perfect. The Italian roast beef is drenched in broth and is like what you'd get in Chicago. They also put on a large green pepper fully cooked. It's well spiced and generous in portion. Good price on sandwiches. Pizzas are fair but not cheap. I'm mildly concerned about the cleanliness in the kitchen that is hidden from view, but since the food has always been good, I'll let it slide and leave it to the specialists in that area. read more

This review is not about the food. It's about the service. I love Arts and have eaten their food for over 30 years. I went to this location to order a roast beef sandwich. I don't live in town anymore, and planned on taking it home with me. They raised the price of their sandwich to $10.50. That is almost a 50% increase, but was willing to pay it because I realize food cost has increased in recent months. Then came my special request. I asked if they could place the roast beef in a separate container from the bread and was told I would need to bring my own bowl. Ground italian, onions, pepperoni, peppers, ham.... properly served on a gleaming aluminum foil....avec plastic fork for the spillovers ..and nothing better than a stack of ashtrays on the garbage can to add that final touch of ambiance. Impeccable service. Server was super helpful and friendly. It was my first time coming to the restaurant. It was smaller building and hard to find but really yummy pizza and jalapeño poppers! They even brought us free chicken nuggets for the baby in our group to try! I'll definitely be back to try out more menu options. read more

Worst service ever. Charged 78.00 for a $7.80 roast beef sandwich. When pointed it out to the manager. He was rude and pushy and demanded i sign the cc recept . Also the sandwich tasted old. We Order from here a pizza, 3 roast beef sandwiches and a large order of cheese sticks and they messed up on the order and gave us bread sticks and when we called them they told us to bring in the bread sticks and they would swap them out now to me that's not right why should we have to come in when they messed up and 2nd that sounds like they would give the bread sticks to someone else read more

Ok so after 25 mins after i placed my order they tell me they do not have lettuce for the sub I ordered, mind you this was 10 mins after the person who ordered after me got his order and then 10 mins later the kitchen told the front staff that they did not have french fries for my order an the front help did not relay the message to me. So after waiting 35 mins, seeing the person that ordered after me get there food and be ignored I left. will never go back again to Arts Varsity. read more
