    Pastrami Sandwich+Potato Salad w/ Pickle
    Eric R.

After years of craving a genuine pastrami on rye, I've finally had the oppurtunity to try one. I was not disappointed. Seated in the heart of studio city, Art's has shown me why every sandwich is a work of art. Walking in, I could smell all manner of culinary delight as I greet a sleepy Monday morning, and while I knew what I wanted pretty quickly,I am not bold enough to try their triple decker sandwiches. (For now) Having tried Matzoh ball soup for the first time, it was akin to a pleasant chicken noodle soup with a fluffy dumpling to acconpany it. I very much enjoyed it. Overall, while the prices did make me want to clutch my pearls for a second, I'm very confident that the food is worth the money, having dined here. I hope to be back soon!

Right on Ventura Bl. Art's Delicatessen is the perfect balance of deliciousness and comfort. I had ordered the Spanish omelette because of the green chiles and it did not disappoint. The bagels were soft and toasted perfectly. Add the butter and cream cheese, heaven mmmmm. The wait staff is amazing. Always with a smile and ready to fill your coffee cup. Now it's a deli so it can be a little loud, the booths are comfortable and clean. I will be back for the sandwiches. Good food and great service, what more can you as for

My friend and I visited yesterday, 1/22/25, around 6:45 PM and had a pleasant experience. When we arrived, only 2-3 other tables were occupied, so we had our choice of seating. The staff was very attentive, likely due to the quiet atmosphere. I ordered the Chicken Noodle Soup with Matzo Ball, which included chicken pieces, carrots, and noodles. While $14 is on the pricier side for soup, they generously added extra chicken, veggies, and noodles, both in the bowl and on the side. It also came with some bagel chips, which was a nice touch. Overall, it was hearty and filling. My friend chose the Traditional Portion Pastrami Sandwich at $27, and they were very satisfied with their meal. It came with a good portion of fries, though adding fries cost an extra $2.75. Personally, I feel sides like fries shouldn't come with an additional charge, especially if they're substituted. My friend also opted for gluten-free bread, which was an extra $2.50. It's unfortunate that dietary restrictions often come with added costs. Overall, it was an enjoyable meal. While I'd return, the price point means I'd hope for the same attentive service and quality. Parking tip: There's residential parking behind the restaurant or free lots nearby, which makes it convenient.

If you've not been to a Jewish Deli, you're missing out. Take Art's, for instance. They have the vibe of a diner, with comfy booths and tables. The service folk are all cordial and they all check in on you, not just the server assigned to your table. The menu is big, and don't pass up reading some of the Yiddish dictionary in the menu, it's priceless. The food is a cross between good home cooking and comfort food heaven. I had the pastrami, which you can get vegan style, if you'd like! It was good and I took 1/2 home for lunch the next day. And, I LOVE they use eco friendly to-go containers. Just need to dump the plastic bag. We had four entries and everyone loved their food. You can find some dishes built for two as well. Parking can be a challenge, but it's worth it.

    The Super Reuben

Open since 1957 Art's is one of the more well-known delis in the valley. My main issue with it is that it doesn't taste as good as some of the other competitors and the pricing is overly steep. We were a table of two and ordered one soup, two sandwiches, and two cookies and our bill was $115 which I think is absurd. All the delis are starting to price themselves more than diners but less than the LA hotspots but for someplace that specializes in sandwiches, I feel that many of them are climbing too high in their pricing. Art's being one of these. Inside looks exactly how you would guess in that there are many booths as seating options that run the entire length of the restaurant in rows, along with a giant kitchen and a predominantly Hispanic kitchen staff. Our server was polite and everything that we ordered came out quickly, but the bill at the end really kind of soured the meal. As you would expect the menu here is giant just like it is at most delis but once you look over the menu, you realize there aren't as many options as it seems like. If you're not a fan of sandwiches or salads, this would not be the place for you. For my first visit I chose the Super Reuben which is a combined pastrami and corned beef Reuben. It was good, although not my favorite that I've had in town. The sandwich was gigantic and I was thinking of reducing it to the lighter portion but for a $3 discount I didn't feel that it was worth it. I also started off with a bowl of the Beet Borscht and thought it was pretty good, although not as strong in flavor as other versions that I have had recently. Overall, I think this is a good deli, but there are better options around LA, especially given the price point. I will give it another try sometime in the future after I try the other delis that I have not been to yet.

    Pastrami on toasted sourdough
    Corby O.

Overnight trip in LA had us searching for something to eat Saturday afternoon and we stumbled on Art's. Dad and I agreed it sounded good so we put in an order. I had the pastrami and my Dad got the Italian sub, they arrived pretty quickly. The sandwiches are loaded with meat, there was a huge amount of meat on the pastrami and the Italian so absolutely no complaints about that. The flavor was very good, the sourdough on mine was toasted nicely and the pastrami had a great flavor especially with that black pepper coating. My Dad said his was very good as well and adding the Italian dressing on top pushed it over the top. As good as it was I don't know about those prices. The pastrami sandwich is $27 which is pretty high even for all the meat on it and the Italian was a staggering $32. At the end of the day it's still just meat, cheese and bread. My Dad is in a clinical trial currently and all meals are provided so they paid for it, I'm not sure if we would have paid that ourselves for a sandwich.

We grabbed two breakfast sandwiches, one with bacon and one without, and both were standout in their own way. The first thing you notice? These sandwiches come out piping hot, wrapped tight and ready to go. Crack them open and you're hit with perfectly cooked eggs and an almost ridiculous amount of gooey, melted cheese. Not skimpy, not balanced, loaded in the best possible way. The Kaiser roll deserves its own shoutout: lightly toasted with just enough crunch on the outside while staying soft and pillowy inside. It holds everything together without getting soggy, even with all that cheese. * The meat version had crispy, flavorful bacon layered just right, salty, smoky, and not overdone. * The meatless one didn't feel like a compromise at all, still rich, filling, and honestly just as indulgent thanks to the cheese and eggs. No frills, no gimmicks, just classic deli breakfast sandwiches executed really well. Bottom line: If you want a hot, cheesy, perfectly toasted breakfast sandwich that actually hits the spot, Paulie's is a win. I can't wait to go back for lunch!

The Downtown Turkey (my choice) is pretty basic (which was fine by me) but it was very dry and I only had half, leaving with a stomachache for the rest of the afternoon. My dining companion had the Penne Alla Vodka which she really liked. I didn't get to try any, but if a pasta dish is the winner from a deli, well, enough said. A while back, Yelp listed this as a business to try. I'd saved this for the next time I was in Studio City. My entire feeling while heading home was "I drove all the way over here for this?!"

The staff is uniformly friendly, the place is clean as a whistle, and they have an impressively extensive menu for a small restaurant. I ordered the 2nd Avenue, which is their version of Langer's #19: Pastrami (or corned beef) on rye with Swiss, Cole Slaw, and Russian Dressing. The sandwich is a generous portion, and nicely composed: it's very easy for such a stack to fall apart, but theirs stays intact. The pastrami was warm and juicy without being fatty, and the Swiss had a nice funk that was tamed by the sweetness of the Russian Dressing. The final component, the Cole Slaw, was a really nice surprise: creamy, though the cabbage retained its crunch and enough of its true taste to give the usually-forgettable condiment some memorable character. The potato salad on the side was top quality, but had a bit too much egg and mustard for my taste. My wife's Breakfast Combo of Scrambled Eggs, French Toast, and Bacon was standard issue and nothing to write home about. In fact, it seemed on a completely different level than my sandwich, and you can get much better expressions of this diner staple at many other local places. I think at a deli like this, your best bet for breakfast is to stick with the "deli style" choices, such as Lox & Eggs & Onions or Pastrami & Eggs, etc. Our server, Crystal, was friendly and helpful and took very good care of us, checking in several times during the meal, even though the place got increasingly busy and she took on a bunch of other tables. She's a good egg. All in all, a nice lunch for me and a so-so breakfast for my wife. But we will be back before long, and I'm excited to see what the next visit will bring.

I am honestly surprised that they are allowed to call themselves "Katz's Deli," since I'm sure I'm not the only one that came here thinking it's the NYC one... anyways... should've read through the yelp reviews closer. Regardless, the quality of the food, particularly the pastrami sandwiches, is very high. The pastrami is diced up into cubes, rather than slices. I would prefer them to be slices but the taste was still amazing. I tried the regular pastrami sandwich ($20) as well as the pastrami reuben sandwich ($23). While both are pastrami sandwiches, I would highly recommend paying the extra $3 to get it as a reuben sandwich, as it comes toasted and with Russian dressing and sauerkraut in it as well. The pastrami sandwich is pretty ordinary but the reuben sandwich is very delicious. The sandwiches also come with your choice of mac salad, potato salad, or coleslaw. We tried one of the mac salad and one potato salad, and they were pretty mid but not bad tbh. Service is nice. I believe the countertop is run by an older couple. It seems like they have been doing this for a while. We waited for about 20-30 minutes for our food. Again, it's located in the back of a liquor store so while we were waiting, we just had to awkwardly stand around in the liquor store. There is seating outside, but it was in the sun and it was a hot day today. We ended up taking the food togo to eat somewhere else. Overall, good food. Feels slightly deceptive with the name but surprised with the great flavors of the food. Solid 4/5.
