I recently was looking for a small lightweight camera I could use for Street Photography. Art's had a Cash-4-Cameras event which I could trade in one of my used Mirrorless cameras along with a 150-600mm Tamron lens, (both in immaculate condition, I always take good care of my stuff.) They gave me a range of value via email when I emailed them about the event, and when I arrived they gave me the top range of value! They don't "low-ball", they know value! So, I picked up my new Street camera, bought 2 extra lenses, batteries, and am very pleased with my new stuff! Film scanning and prints are a little pricey and my scans were not aligned properly so quite a few of my digitals and prints are split frames showing two pictures in one which is disappointing. Started at Mike Crivello's/Brookfield - based on their ratings; HOWEVER, I had an unhelpful experience with few choices there. It was dark and cluttered. Next stop was Art's in Greenfield. Was greeted and welcomed in immediately. It was brightly lit and organized. We went thru options/pricing. He was patient as I was texting with my daughter. I bought the care package b/c I know how my kids are. The next day they realized that there was an error and immediately corrected it. Today I brought in my DSLR to sell and was quoted trade in value of $176, but if I brought in the kit lens I could get $20 more. In addition, if I wanted to trade in for another camera they could give us a little more trade in value. I put a $150 deposit on a trade up camera so they would hold it while I ran home to get the kit lens. I came back and the woman I was working with was helping another customer. I got stuck dealing with some guy who changed the deal to $120 trade in value with no additional value to trade up. That's just bad business. I don't trust this place. read more

My first visit to Arts: I came in to compare the Canon R7 and R10. I had the R10 with me. The woman helping me said she would not open the box unless I was going to buy the R7. I said, "I'm not sure if I am going to buy the R7. I need to hold it and see it first." I asked how I could make a decision unless I look at both cameras to compare. She said she can tell me all about both cameras. I replied that I already did the research and I know about both cameras, but that I wanted to hold them in my hands to see which felt better. She said they were both the same. I said, "They are not. The R7 is a little bigger and has a bit more grip." Then she said, "Maybe you would be more happy with a Sony?" I was shocked. I came in specifically to look at the R7. Finally, she agreed to take it out of the box and allowed me to hold it. Instantly I knew this was the camera I wanted and I said that I would buy it. I asked her about lenses afterward. I had a Sigma Sports lens, 70-200 f2.8 with me that I had just purchased use. She tried to sell me a Canon 4.5 70-400. I was flabbergasted. I already have a zoom lens!!! (Was she TRULY NOT LISTENING???) I said I was looking for a 24-70 or something like that. She told me about Canon 20-70 F2 which was $3000. I was again flabbergasted as I told her that it was already a splurge for me to spend $1500 on a camera body which was $600 more than what I paid for the Canon R10 that I had brought into the store with me. She then told me that Image stabilization is what is important and that she didn't know about the image stabilization in the lens I had and the R10. I'm thinking in my head: How the heck were you going to explain the differences between the R7 and the R10 when you don't even KNOW if the R10 has image stabilization? It proved to me that I knew more about these two cameras than she did. Paying for the camera: I had called earlier and asked if they took Apple Pay (as this is where the $1600 was in my account to purchase the camera). She now says Apple Pay is not 100% always working. I'm thinking... I had a choice: Mike Crivello's or Arts. I chose Arts. I called, and they had the R7 and R10 in stock, AND they took Apple Pay. The woman on the phone was so nice that I decided this is where I wanted to spend my money. Well, the Apple Pay did not work. She said, "I can hold this for you for a few days if you put $200 down." I told her, as I had mentioned previously, "I get 2% back on Apple Pay so this is why I wanted to pay that way. Plus I have room on my Apple card to pay for this." She kept saying she would hold the camera for a week with $200 down. I kept reminding her: APPLE PAY. Then I asked if the owner was in the store today. He was not. "Please tell him he lost a sale bc he does actually NOT take Apple Pay." Again, she tried to get me to put $200 down. I left without the Canon R7. I purchased a $99 Canon lens adapter but that is all. My overall review: The store does not truly listen to your needs. The store does not treat you with respect if you are not a high-end customer. And no. The store does NOT take Apple Pay despite what they might tell you on the phone. I called Mike Crivello's on my way home and they have the camera, assured me they have Apple Pay, and they look forward to seeing me soon. :) read more

I almost drove right past Arts because it looks like a drive through bank at first. The building is a former bank that is now Arts camera. It's kind of strange but it works. I needed a item for my camera again and I was having a hard time finding it anywhere. Tom from Arts came through and gave me a fantastic deal. I had a great experience using Art's Camera Plus for their 35mm slide scanning. I had over 70 rolls of slides that I wanted scanned to a digital format. I brought my slides to the store in my own organization and work with one of the team members to get them into boxes for processing. 3 weeks later - I picked up the slides and a USB drive. Great quality on these old photos (so much better than what I was getting when I scanned a few rolls myself...not to mention the time it took for me to do it one by one!). I paid roughly $600 for the 70+ rolls of pictures. Worth every penny to have the photos in digital form and easy to view/share with the family. read more

I ordered a camera lens for my Canon EOS R6 and it had been on hold with the manufacturer for some time. I had an upcoming vacation coming up and worked with Ray who made sure i had the lense available to rent for my vacation. He set up the rental and made it all so easy. My first experience with Art's was when it was still Art's Thrifty Camera. That was a long, long time ago when photographs were recorded on some prehistoric stuff called "film." At that time, they helped me with a Minolta Maxxum camera. Sony bought Minolta some years ago specifically to get Minolta's Maxxum autofocus technology that is the heart of Sony's autofocus cameras today. Like mine. I've dropped into Art's several times over the years, usually for cases, accessories and other needs. I've always found Art's associates to be knowledgeable and helpful. My most recent trip was for a badly needed gadget bag and lens hood. A young lady named Allison approached me, listened intently to what I thought I needed, and only then began to show me what she had available. After trying (unsuccessfully) to get my gear to fit into several different bags that she suggested, based on my requests, we found one that didn't appear quite right but turned out to be exactly what I desired. Allison then helped me choose the proper hood for my glass. Art's has a wide selection, competitive prices and knowledgeable associates who are eager to help. I have gone to Arts for many years now, even prior to this location, because I sometimes require a conversation for my questions to get answered. Being a novice has the misfortune of not being able to find the right way to ask specific questions for online answers. I greatly appreciate the years of knowledge Arts' staff has to share. I also like that most of the staff are friendly and helpful. I say most because there are one or two that I've encountered in the past who have been snobby or arrogant. But that comes with the territory. Every hobby has its elite who work hard to make a living being perfect, and who feel helping out "newbies" is beneath them. I stopped in yesterday to pick a few brains and buy some small items. I decided to rent a lens for the day and that was a surprisingly quick process. I'm not sure why another reviewer had complained, but a full price deposit was not required. However, the rental must be placed with a valid credit card for obvious reasons. It's a simple policy- you break it you buy it. Don't rent equipment if you can't afford to replace it. I was allowed to test out and look over the lens before signing any paperwork. No sense in signing away without making sure everything is in working order first! I'll admit that today I was really looking forward to finding a new camera bag and was disappointed that there was literally nothing on display for larger day/travel packs. Tons of tripods though. I feel the Internet has killed that portion of the business and that makes me sad. I prefer to hold and operate items to see if they'll work for me. Can't do that on the internet! I'll speak for past experience with the photo lab here: it's sometimes confusing. I have had beautiful quality standard sized enlargements done in no time at all. Decent price, great quality. However, I once ordered prints with an abnormal cropping and specified that the white space was ok due to how I was mounting the project. The first set of images were printed out and came to me all stretched and distorted. So I tried again and the same thing happened. I did have to pay but I didn't pay full price. Fair enough given the cost of ink. I do hope there are some more knowledgeable people on staff in their printing department because I'm getting sick of Wallgreens and buying my own ink is just, well, those cartridge prices are downright unaffordable. read more

David, Guy with curly grayish hair, is ridiculously rude. I came in with my sister to trade a lens, and totally ignored me when I asked a few questions. Maybe in his eyes I wasn't a photographer, or wasn't making a purchase? I asked him about the photos on the wall and ignored me. You think you could just casually make a conversation with someone as life is not all about money, but apparently there's not that many good people left in this world. However, the girl who attended was great! As old as he looked, she was probably a third of his age. He should definitely take some pointers from her, especially if he's focused on his pocket!
