So, we've been customers here for a few years. My last experience was far from perfect. Mistakes happen, but the response from Dale whom I guess is the Manager was NOT acceptable. I brought my latest subscription in and my retail experience was everything I expected. Now that I live in OH I had my glasses mailed to me. When shipping they put the correct address on my invoice which was in the package but they put the wrong address on the mailed box. After driving 90 miles to where they supposedly were at, I had to drive to downtown Cincinnati to the Post Office. Like Milwaukee, I had to find parking in a garage then walk two city blocks to the post office. I waited for them to find my package since the mailing address was not correct. After about 20 minutes of waiting, I was told they no longer had the package but had forwarded it to about Post Office across town. I paid my parking garage bill, and drove to the next office. Went in and explained my situation and waited another 20 minutes for the Manager to tell me they don't have it. They took my name and number if it showed up. I drove home with no package and the trip was about 5+hours as my residence is about 60 miles from downtown or a 90 minute drive one way. My glasses arrived by mail the next day as someone realized the zip code had been written down wrong on the box. I called to pay my invoice and asked for a discount for the 5+ hours invested during my workweek for their mistake. Dale was asked by the clerk about my request, and not only was he not good enough to pick up the phone, but said that if his $50 discount wasn't good enough I could just return the glasses. 5 plus hours of time and a $50 credit on a $600+ bill. And if I didn't like it, I could return them. Anybody's 5 hours of time worth $50? Don't like it, just return the glasses. Fluegge's was better than I ever could have imagined!!! We'd been looking for MONTHS for oversized glasses for my son (who has autism and a big head) but regular stores only have frames that go up to size 59 or 60. Since our insurance (United Health Care Medicare) will not cover internet opticians that have some of the larger frames, UHC (wasted our time and) had us call and/or visit dozens of brick and mortar stores to see if, by chance, they'd have something in stock for him. We even visited a custom eyewear shop that would have cost well over $1,000. I eventually called the Froedtert Hospital Eye Clinic to see if they had a suggestion where to go, and Dr. Healy recommended Fluegge's. A difference of night and day. Dale Fluegge is a FOURTH GENERATION OPTICIAN. Well, what does that mean for you/me? This is what he did. He first showed my son a few more flexible frames, but then said he could even fix the frames my son was already wearing so there'd be no need to buy new ones (because the change in prescription was so minor). ??? Those frames were from Warby Parker but never fit right, even after multiple visits back for adjustments. The temples dented in the sides of his head and the bridge part was constantly falling down his nose. I was pretty skeptical, but also curious. Dale took the glasses "in back" and came out a few minutes later with them fitting my son better than ever!! He attached/drilled in nose pads from the inside (where there were none before) so they stayed up on his nose, and then swapped to a different hinge to attach the temples at a different angle, and VOILA!! Fixed up and fitting better than ever, and at a cost of ZERO. Custom one-thousand-dollar frames not needed. I HAVE NEVER HAD AN OPTICIAN DO THAT, HAVE YOU?? Basically create a better fitting frame than it was initially to provide the best possible fit. All these years, we try on all these frames and no one says anything about adjusting the separate parts of the frame so that the glasses fit perfectly because the sales people don't know how to do it!! Well, this FOURTH GENERATION OPTICIAN can do wonders with glasses, and we're never going to anyone else ever again. THANK YOU, FLUEGGE OPTICAL!! read more

I ended up leaving empty handed because I'm picky, but before I left, they offered to replace my current frames' nose pads for me. Please note this is not the place where you get your eye exam, this place you bring your prescription and they will make the glasses for you.. You can purchase the frames from them or bring your own... Their prices are very market competitive. They have a lab in house so if your lenses are in stock you can get them within an hour depending how busy they are. Staff wears mask and zanitizes between customers who sit on their chairs (covid times). No lavatory available if you are waiting for your glasses. I called from Maryland after being told no company in Maryland makes Executive Lens for bifocals anymore. I can't use progressive bifocals because Macular Degeneration has destroyed my central vision in the left eye. I have used Executive bifocals since 1992 to sustain my peripheral vision. I have a very difficult Rx to fill for my eyes that are quite myopic and with a marked astigmatism. I can't tolerate the single line bifocal, it drives me nuts. Fluegge's have been filling these difficultRx with transitions for me for a LONG time and they are most often spot on. Rarely do we have to remake a lens, and if they do, it is spot on. I have had optical depts from ophthalmologists offices as well as optometric offices and Fluegge's consistently have helped me make a great world crisp for me to see. Cataract surgery gave me 20/20 distance vision, but nobody told me I would completely lose my near and intermediate vision. I discovered Fluegge's Optical when I moved to the Burlington, WI area more than 20 years ago. Their on-site lens-making lab was a plus for me because I'm myopic and have to wear my glasses constantly. Too, my three jobs require close-eye work and strong frames. The Fluegge's staff is attentive, and the customer service and fast finishing are unique in this modern era of "send it out, we'll get it back eventually". My husband has had bad luck with other optical services in Burlington, who made one pair of his glasses wrong, and completely ignored or forgot another. I told him I'm sticking with Fluegge's because they find prescription mistakes, and they're very careful in making lenses and getting them ready and fitted in a few days. Not only is their service good, they offer a selection of frames that's the widest (sometimes wildest!) I've experienced. My daughter is a challenge when it comes to wearing her glasses and she has needed them since an infant. She is also a ball of energy, so the idea of taking her to get new frames is daunting. After taking a difficult prescription for bifocals for a 2 year old (poor kid) to Walmart Vision Center three times to be corrected (they never did get them right), the vision center clerk recommended Fluegge's. It's a little off the beaten path, but I've had six pairs of glasses made for my son as his prescription changed rapidly year to year, and each time it was checked by the pediatric ophthalmologist, the lenses were perfect. While the lenses cost a bit more to start with than Walmart's, once you start adding on extras like coatings and Transitions, it actually ended up cheaper to get the lenses at Fluegge's too. Also, unlike Walmart, they do most of the stuff in house so you get the lenses in a day or two, not Walmart where you're waiting for a week or more and there's no guarantee when you'll get the glasses. Also, when my son broke the frames a couple of times doing boy stuff like getting hit in the nose with a field hockey puck, they replace them, free of charge, no questions asked, done and done. Service is excellent, they have eccentric, ever-changing artwork for sale like a mini gallery, free Tootsie rolls for the kids, doo-wop music and designer sunglasses, it's a hip place to get some shades....and its ladies room is worth the trip out to Waterford just for the mural. I found the people to be knowledgeable, very friendly and helpful. Prices were quite fair. This is one of the best in the area. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because they don't have that many high end frames. They did have Cartier. Due to their location, I would assume that their market is not high end fashion. If you are within driving distance, you should go to this place first. Second, actually because Costco is the most cost effective place. Costco charges only about half of what fluegg charges. Some Milwaukee are high end opticians are charging $650 for high index progressive lenses. Fluegg was about $400 and Costco is around $250. Unfortunately, Costco doesn't have great frames but fluegg does have fairly good frames at Fair prices. read more

After damaging favorite frames (purchased at a Racine Vision Clinic), I returned to see about having the hinge repaired. I was told it was not possible, they could not be repaired (either onsite or by being sent out). They did offer that I should look at new frames and lenses. My husband and I won't go anywhere else but Fluegge Optical. We've been loyal customers for about 15 years. In fact, we moved to Florida and we wait to get glasses until we come to Wisconsin for a vacation! Dale and Rocky and the rest of their staff are true customer sevice professionals, which is getting increasingly hard to find these days. Not only do they sell frames and lenses of every type and price imaginable, they will also order in just about anything within their power if you can't find it at the time of your visit. Fluegge carries high end as well as funky eyewear if that is what you're looking for. Dale made sure he designed lenses so that knitting would be a lot easier for me as I have to switch from near to far point focusing...try and get that at a big box optical store! AND, their skilled employees REPAIR glasses if it is possible instead of pressuring anyone to buy. There is something to fit everyone's budget and Fluegge Optical has the best prices around for quality frames. I suppose Costco or Walmart might be cheaper (not sure), but then you get what you pay for. Last of all, it is a beautifully decorated store. It's such a fun environment. Dale exercised the right side of his brain when designing the facility...just wait until you step into one of the bathrooms! OMG, it'll blow your mind. When's the last time you looked forward to using a public bathroom??? Their is nothing negative about this establishment. One caution though..(in response to someone else's review)....if you have small children that tend to run around, you will have to keep them under control due to the nature of the merchandise. Letting them roam with even the potential of grabbing at the expensive merchandise is NOT APPROPRIATE. Don't get angry with personnel if they ask you to keep your kids reined in. read more
