I spend a lot more than I intended too, I was only going to get a mat and then frame the piece myself. I am happy that I listened to Rodolfo and spent the money on this piece. I have a 1900 piece of sheet music lithograph, titled "Turn of the Century," that I decided I wanted to frame after I saw a Groupon for a pretty good discount. I have nothing on my walls that I even thought this piece would work with, but I really liked it and took it to them. I worked with the framer; I hemmed and hawed, but finally decided on a mat color and a frame that again did not seem to go with anything I have, however, it made the litho sing. Unlike the yelpers who thought that conservation glass was pushed on them, I asked for that glass, I didn't want the still bright 112 year old piece to fade. Up until I walked in to the store to pick up the finished product I was sure we chose the wrong frame and mat color. I was wrong! 15 of 5 stars reviews? Really? Were they reviews from your relatives and buddies? My girlfriend took a 29"X40" size poster and an existing frame and mat to "Artistic Expert Picture Framing." All I wanted was for them to cut the mat and I'd do the rest, but they insisted they couldn't do that and had to do more. They wanted to mount the poster and install a backing and the wire too. Fine. It took a month for them to do the work ... and more than $80. But this was not the biggest issue. Here the worst of it: once we finally had the poster back home, we hung it over our bed. After a few weeks, I had the stunning surprise to have the frame fall from the wall inches from my head--while I was sleeping! My girlfriend came running from the other room to see what happened. Luckily the frame slipped between the wall and the bed! Otherwise I would have been seriously injured. When I turned over the frame and looked inside the torn dust paper to see what had happened, I found that they'd placed the screws so they didn't actually go into the frame--they were right at the edge, and they split the frame on the inside. I have several pictures to prove it. I'm shocked the poster didn't fall earlier. So, now I have a busted frame and almost a busted head, and I'm taking care of this myself... Will I ever go to the place again? Nooooope. And I will tell all my friends about the event. Too bad I cannot rate them a quarter of a star. Update on 4/23/11: The owner contacted me and agreed to a refund, and also doesn't plan to accept work in the future that uses third party frames. During a trip to Kenya a few years back, I became friends with an artist named Omosh Kindeh. Omosh painted sprawling cityscapes, inspired by life in his neighborhood on the east side of Nairobi. I loved the scale of his work, the colors, and the fact that they reminded me of the first Tribe album. We became friends, and in early-2015, he began working on a painting for me. Sadly, just a few months later, Omosh suddenly passed away. He was only 34. The painting was never finished. In February, I finally brought the piece home. It was in rough shape. After nearly being confiscated at Jomo Kenyatta International, it had been rolled up and stored under a spare bed for over a year. It was really important for me to get the painting properly re-stretched and framed. I wanted to preserve it as best as possible. That's how I ended up at Artistic Picture Framing. Rodolfo and his team were fantastic. Rodolfo immediately understood why I wanted to take care of this work. He picked out the perfect frame, a sort of brushed bronze with a touch of green (check out the picture) that perfectly matched the tone of the painting and the story behind the work. We picked a float frame because Omosh mentioned that he liked those the best. To be honest, I spent a lot of money on this project. Much more than I thought I could afford on my student budget. I just wanted to let everyone know just how satisfied I am with Artistic Framing and it's owner Rodolfo -- a consummate, warm, and patient gentlemen who made this project so delightful. We had Artistic Framing stretch the canvas on our 5x5 ft commission, which arrived rolled up. They did a beautiful job stretching the piece but when it came to framing my wife and I were torn on a floating frame option. We bounced back and forth and Rodolfo traveled to pick up multiple samples so we can evaluate even more options. In the end we settled on a beautiful silver finished wood frame. Rodolfo delivered the piece to our house and mounted on the wall for us. We were so impressed and satisfied by the whole process, that we had Rodolfo frame yet another stretched canvas that we were not even planning on having framed. And of course this piece was also beautifully done. I also compared pricing from a couple other top notch framers in the Bay Area and Artistic Framing was extremely competitive.
