What a wonderful experience! Percy and Rosemary as so kind and helpful. They worked really hard to finish two large pieces for me. The communication was excellent and they never made my request seem like it was a burden but I know they work late hours to do it. This level of service is a lost art. I appreciate them very much. read more

The Great Frame Up is fantastic. The store is family run by Grace and Percy, who are so kind and fun to work with. I have been going to them for around 7 years, taking a number of pieces in every year. The store has nice "simple" frames and mats, but they also have a great selection of unique frames and mats. Grace and Percy let you be as involved as you want in the process, which is nice. I'm pretty particular, so I often take a while to decide...instead of seeming annoyed or rushing me along, they seem just as invested and interested in getting the piece(s) "just right." It pays off too - visitors to my home compliment my frames just as much as the art, often remarking on how well they're paired together. Grace and Percy remember people by their art pieces and remember pieces I had framed years ago, which I find lovely. The Great Frame Up will go above and beyond for their regular customers, but their standard level of customer service is leaps and bounds beyond what many stores offer. read more

Percy and Rose are true artists and are also the cutest and funniest couple! I have enjoyed every experience with them and they have done some beautiful work for me always while making me laugh! In these pictures you can see the beautiful shadow box they created for me. They helped me select the frame and even though I had an idea of what was coming, I was in awe when I saw the finished work. It is nothing short of beautiful and gives me joy everyday. read more

They did an absolutely wonderful job framing our collection of multi-generation wedding photos!! My wife and I, my Parents, as well as my Grandparents. Perfect workmanship and extremely courteous and professional service!! We will be bringing many more photos and artworks to them for framing. In addition, the owner repaired 2 of our old Frames with oil painting artwork and did not charge us!! Definitely 5 Stars review!! read more

I have never had a picture professionally framed before. The owners are very friendly and helpful. They just completed a piece for me that will be a gift to my now former boss, and the finished product is stunning!! This shop is just fantastic! Family run by a lovely couple, and they are creative insane perfectionists. I've had over a half dozen things framed by them so far and have been super happy with the results, but the last one really blew me away. I inherited a collection of matchbooks from my nana that she collected while traveling with my pop pop later in life. They aren't valuable, but have intense sentimental value. They were originally shoddily framed in two beat up unfinished "frames", and I always wanted to preserve them better. Percy and Grace took way more time than any other framer would to arrange the unevenly sized matchbooks in a perfect grid. Couldn't be happier! read more

I have been coming to this store for framing for almost 20 years. The owners are courteous, patient and know how to do a quality job in frame/mat selection and execution. Their work is priced within market-range and they have always delivered their goods on time if not early. I can't say enough good about these two - upon learning they moved from College Ave in Rockridge to Telegraph Ave in Temescal, I immediately went the extra 1/2 mile to support a local business which I've been loyal to for years. The latest work they did for me is great, and if course I'm coming back!! read more

Fantastic service and super fast turn around, now I am looking for more puzzles to purchase just so I can have it framed.

This place is great. Mom and Pop shop and the couple that own it are so kind and helpful. They do great work and they're timely. 5 stars!

We had 4 large pictures (a vintage poster, 2 paintings, and a huge photo) framed a few months ago and I'm finally getting around to this review. I'll add photos of the framed works at another time. We were very impressed by and appreciative of Percy and Grace's full attention and excellent advice when we came in to see about getting our pictures framed. We decided to have the work done by them and were very happy with their subsequent communication and attention to detail. The framing was completed in a very reasonable timeframe and in fact ready even sooner than promised. The work was excellent. My only complaint is the price. The Great Frame Up is no more expensive than its competitors, but framing prices just make me cringe, period. It's one of the reasons we waited so long to have these pieces framed. read more

The Great Frame Up has done an amazing job of several pieces for me including a 1950s map of Africa that I got at a vintage shop. The large map had water damage and peeling and they were able to restore/ stretch it and frame it beautifully. They have framed everything from a professional photo of my children to those same children's art work. The owners are incredibly talented, professional, friendly and efficient. They made suggestions on which frames and matte look best and it was clear that they care about their work and pay great attention to detail. The prices were also fair. I look forward to getting a few more pieces done by them and love that they are so close by. read more

Had a precious print framed for me by these guys. It was replacing a much larger but deadly boring painting and I needed the frame to help the print take up a lot of wall space. They advised me with colors and also the inset mat that shows off the paper of the print's edge. It came out beautifully, and while the print is smaller than the painting it replaces, it really makes a much bigger statement. I love it so much. I'm so happy with the work and the advice they gave me. Definitely coming back for my next one! read more

Wonderful store - wonderful people - and great new location!!! I have been bringing all of my framing to Percy and Rose for the last four years and, while I was sad to see them leave their old College Ave location, the new place is even better! Parking right out front which is much more convenient. They have done beautiful work for us - never steer us wrong - and are absolutely delightful people as well. I cannot praise them enough! read more

Flawless custom framing and fair pricing. We purchased an original work of art by Japanese artist Sadao Watanabe, and shopped around comparing framing options in the East Bay for quite some time. The Great Frame Up handled the piece very carefully when we first went for a consultation/quote because they knew the value of the work. They patiently answered all of our questions, explained all materials in detail, and even shifted their schedule around on the weekend to have a designated slot for us to do the final steps of framing. They are committed to the highest quality materials and perfect execution. We are very pleased with their excellent work, attention to detail, years of experience, and their patience in working with us. We would highly recommend them to anyone and will return for any framing in the future. Thank you Rose and Percy! read more

Took a rather large painting( bamboo brush water color on silk) that I bought years ago, to have reframed. They took the time to carefully select a frame to match the painting's mood and feel, as well as the proper matting. I could not be more pleased, and will definitely go back. read more

The Great Frame Up is a fantastic framing shop with excellent pricing. I brought in a huge Chinese scroll painting and the owners of the shop spent a long time with me helping me select the perfect frame for my piece. When the price for that first frame came in over my budget, they graciously spent more time with me to select something super close to the first frame that worked within my budget. Then we spent several minutes discussing matting and edge dimensions. When I received the final product, it was absolutely perfectly framed, no gaps in the corners whatsoever, perfectly proportioned matte at the top and bottom. As a design professional, I appreciate attention to detail and an artistic and exacting eye, and I felt like the owners of the shop provided all of these qualities. I highly recommend this shop! read more

Absolutely loved the service and detail given by the store owners! Came in with a print that I wanted framed and preserved for as long as possible and they kindly walked me through plenty of color, material, shape, and glass options while explaining the effect of different frames on the art print to help me choose a frame that would complement the art print perfectly. For the quality and attention given to the frame, the price was well worth it. The owners finished the job in about a week and were super friendly the whole way through. Would highly highly recommend. read more

Percy and Rose are very professional and patient. They are incredibly pleasant to interact with and I love the way my things came out. My degrees are in unique frames with perfectly cut color matched mats behind UV protective glass. They look one thousand times better than they would if I'd let the University contractors do it. I love their showroom, with the vertical markup so you can post your piece and the mats and frames right there - it's so clever. I would trust any precious thing to the Great Frame Up to be properly ensconced. read more

The Great Frame Up did an incredible job with my 3 framing projects. One project was a frame that needed to be replaced because it was damaged. This repair job was challenging because all of the shadow box items were glued to the back of the frame and they were uncertain that they could separate the items from the frame. But they did and the finished project looks perfect. The second project was an old image from my grandmother. She had it framed but the acid in the mat had damaged the image. With a new frame and mat and cutting the mat just slightly larger than the previous mat they were able to hide the acid damage on the image. The finished project makes the image look brand new. The third and most challenging project was framing a small art quilt which contains a significant amount of beading. They helped me pick a frame that really highlighted the small seed beads in the quilt. They were able to sew the quilt to the mat board and then mount the board in the frame shadow box. I'm ecstatic about the finished product and it truly creates a one of kind piece of art. Three projects with three different levels of complexity and all were finished with remarkable results. I completely recommend The Great Frame Up for any framing project you may have - they can do it!! read more

Until you experience the difference expert framing can have on your artwork, you may not know the impact! I have had many pieces framed by the "big box" stores and thought I understood color combos - mats, textures, dimensions, etc. I think I have a pretty discerning eye. But I have learned so much from Percy and Rose. I've now had a few pieces done by them (even had some re-done that I'd done at the "big box" store because the art was lost in all the framing) and the artwork shines! There's a balance they achieve in highlighting and not overpowering the piece. They take time with you to find the best match. To me, that is always an enjoyable experience in and of itself. And then I get to sit on my sofa and gaze at the art I've bought on my travels! Thank you Rose and Percy!! read more
