My son visited Myanmar this year and brought back a painted wall hanging/textile from Myanmar. (His in-laws live there). I offered to find a place to get it framed. Upon my friend's (Toni M), suggestion, I went to Sticks on Solano Ave. The gentleman who assisted me was very nice and helpful. He picked out several different mats and frames for me to choose from. I decided to get museum glass to prevent reflection and fading of the textile. It usually takes about 3 weeks for them to finish the framing, but I got it back in 2. My son and his wife were very pleased with the completed project. I did find non-metered parking in front of their shop but I arrived around 15 min after they opened at 11 am. I would definitely consider using Sticks again. read more

I really enjoy working with Myong and Randy. They are very good at what they do and I'm always satisfied with the results of their work. They have a great selection of framing materials to choose from and are very good at making suggestions on how to frame my art work. I feel that the pricing for the work and the selection and quality of the materials is very good, I like working with Myong and Randy, and highly recommend them. read more

I was back at Sticks today to have a cartoon framed that touched me a couple of Sundays ago. It wasn't available framed, which wasn't a problem, but I see it is now. Here it is: https://store.gocomics.com/product/pearls-before-swine-august-25-2024-rip-comic-art-print/ It arrived yesterday so I put it in the car to have available after lunch today w/ Nina. I found a parking space right in front of Squabish, which is right next door to Sticks. I walked in and Randy came down the stairs to help me. He took the cartoon from its package. I was pleased to see it was in color. We picked out a mat and a frame. I paid half the cost and Randy told me to expect it to be ready the second week in October. The last thing I had framed here was another cartoon, one in June which had struck me funny, a Wiley Miller cartoon about the ceremonial start of hurricane season. Here is the link https://www.gocomics.com/nonsequitur/2024/06/11 . I was pleased w/ the results of the framing job, which was finished mid August. It now hangs in my kitchen. read more

I broke the glass on a small framed picture. It took them 15 minutes to replace the glass, and that was it. No fuss, no bother. That's what I like. read more

Great help picking frames. Lovely finished product. I'm very happy with the end result.

I have been bringing my photos and artwork to Sticks for 16+ years now!! Always amazing work and quick turnaround time if you need it! Recently I purchased a vintage French taxidermy butterfly frame and when it was delivered to me there were a few butterflies that completely fell apart. Sticks was able to help me replace the butterflies from their own collection, and also helped me fix the frame itself! Good as new and now my best friend can finally enjoy her birthday gift!! Thank you for the great quick work! read more

Highest quality service. Very friendly and professional staff. I have been a customer for over 20 years and have never been disappointed.

What a stunning job they did framing our Hokusai self-portrait as 'Woodcutter by the Tama River'. They were happy to accommodate our non-traditional framing request to allow space for the subject and viewer's pondering. When the glitch of provenance being covered required the frame be opened up, the proprietor did not bat an eye. Excellent Service... Beautiful Craftmanship! read more

Does anyone get things framed anymore? Yes, there are a few things like special photographs, art, ketubahs, etc. that require escape from a jpeg file and onto a special place on the wall and in my heart. Sticks is one of the better places to make the right frame and mat decision. Such artistic combinations aren't always cheap, but considering the resulting quality and imagination, it's all a great value. read more

Beautiful job! Really quite stunning. Thank you so much for your work. Highly recommend!

I'm a big fan of Sticks. I've had two things framed here and dropped off three more this weekend. I've worked with the owner and another person and they were both great. I like that they do a fantastic job but aren't crazy expensive. They are more than happy to share their opinions and show you lots of matte and frame options but let you make the final decision. Over the years I've worked with several framers and Sticks is my favorite! read more

What amazing work we have done together! I've had over half a dozen pieces framed here and the quality of the work is outstanding! Just last week I brought in two pictures we purchased for my office that were damaged in transit from the artist. We worked to find the perfect frame and after we thought we found it I mentioned "up on the wall still might be the perfect one" and sure enough we kept looking and found it! I remarked "so many frames to choose from," to which she replied, "yes and never enough!" Got to love the enthusiasm!!! If you have something you love and are looking to turn it into a masterpiece - Sticks is for you. read more

100% recommend their canvas stretching. Cheap, fast, and quality work. read more

Sticks - Framing Near Me - Berkeley, California

Walked in, guy at counter just ignored me. I was holding several pieces of work that I obviously wanted framed but I did not even rate a: "hello" or a: "I'll be right with you." or even so much as a nod of acknowledgement of my existence for that matter, there was only one other person in the store besides me. I awkwardly wandered about for a few minutes, again wandered over to his counter. Not even a glance my way. I don't like pushy salespeople, but feeling invisible altogether sucks. Guess my business doesn't rate. First time non-customer. read more

We always go here to have our art framed before shipping to a show. Everyone is so nice and helpful and always take as much time as i need to find the right matte or frame. read more

As a fine art photographer who by her own admission is a perfectionist, I have been using Sticks' services since 2009. I rarely write reviews, but felt compelled to do so in this case, as I think Sticks is a really wonderful resource. I have been especially impressed and graced by the expertise of Myong Stebbins, an artist herself and a long-time Sticks employee who recently took over the business. Myong takes notable ownership of the work she does; I have the utmost confidence in her abilities. As well, I invariably leave Sticks knowing something I hadn't, as Myong gently offers very useful advice. A while back, I checked out other local framers, simply to use as a basis for comparison, but in so doing realized I had already found the best. read more

Steve, Myong and Randy are wonderfully patient and insightful as to what looks good with your work. Their prices and their turnaround times are excellent. They do good quality work in a timely manner. I always recommend them. They also have lots of really nice ready made frames in the front, perfect for an impulse gift. Nan P. read more

Sticks is not cheap, but they do a great job of framing your most prized art, photographs, and anything you deem worthy of framing. We had several Thangka paintings framed (Tibetan buddhist paintings), as well as a write up of our wedding in a magazine. Each was done exquisitely (with UV plexi-glass) and the owner will give you great suggestions and advice. He really knows what he's doing and when you get your piece, you will have no regrets. Sure, you'll pay several hundred for each frame, but it's worth every cent b/c you know your framed piece will last for years to come! read more

Support local business! This place is great, so accommodating, does fast and quality work. I walked in and they helped me in five minutes. Aaron Bros. said I would need to wait five days for an easy project. I will use Sticks for all my framing needs now!! read more

I've been impressed by the overall custom quality and level of service provided by the owner-operated Sticks. Excellent prices and consulting services ... they don't make fun of my art and do a good job of keeping me within my budget. Far cry from the crappy/mass-market service and poor consulting/matting/framing offered by the chains. Even better, Sticks is conveniently located a storefront down on Salano Avenue in Berkeley from the UPS store ... perfect for a single trip of p/u and ship. My only complaint is that they aren't open on Sundays and as far as I know, do not have a website. read more

Don't trust your art to a chain store. Steve and company @ Sticks do the job right at a fair price. Exceptional workmanship. I've had many of my pieced framed here and have never been disappointed. read more

Sticks Framing offers fabulous, friendly, and personal service coupled with expert craftsmanship. I had a complex and somewhat unusual framing need involving a treasured, family-heirloom painting--and was in a real quandary about how to approach it and whom to turn to for a solution. Myoung listened carefully to how I described what I wanted to accomplish and understood my concerns about compatible framing. Her thoughtful advice and guidance was absolutely invaluable. And with Stick's sophisticated selection and professional workmanship, the results were stunning! I plan to return to have another painting framed. read more

I have been taking work to frame at Sticks since 1998. Over the years, this adds up to dozens and dozens of projects. These framers are extremely professional, they have a lot of experience (it shows), and they can tackle anything, such as build frames for oversized or finicky objects, not just 2d art. The friendly folks are not only experts in terms of framing techniques, but they also have an expert eye when it comes to suggesting frames. (They have an astonishing abundance of frames to choose from.) Importantly, they take every project seriously, whether it's my daughter's second grade drawing or an original Chagall, and it won't cost you an arm and a leg. Sticks may be sandwiched between the quirky Bone Room and a petite fancy food joint, but this seemingly modest frame shop is one of the best-kept secrets in the Bay Area. read more

I've used these good folks for about a decade for everything I need at home and work. Low-key, high quality jobs that make the art in them hum. I've done a lot of large-format framing with them and they are consultative, creative, reliable, and always do a great job. They will listen when you have a tight turnaround and push to get it done which I also appreciate so much. read more

I have been going to sticks for about 15 years. I have found them to be truely talented in helping me find the right matt and frame for my art work. When i look at their work when i have hung it on my walls, I always smile and i know i would never have thought or known of their choices on my own. They have been very accomodating and customer service oriented. And they are nice people to visit when you are passing by. It is truley a neighborhood store in the finest sense. I only wish i had more wall space- then i would be there more often. They have even helped me when i want to protect prints i have purchased but didn't want to go to the expense of framing them. They were creative and really listened to what i needed. I am really happy to have this store in my neighborhood. read more

I have had a wonderful experience with Sticks Framing on Solano. I just had about 30 pieces framed for an artshow. They look fantastic. Myong and Randy did an exceptional job. Everything was completed on time, even though some of it was challenging and needed their imaginative skills. The work was meticulous and my pieces looked really beautiful. We installed the show this weekend and it made such a difference to have things framed. I am so happy with their work and will continue to have my art framed there. Thank you! read more
