I used Deanna again for another one of my son's (I had 4 of them) birthday cake and I just want to say it blew me away. Her design was so incredibly beautiful! And not only that, the cake flavor was amazing! You don't expect something so beautiful to also taste great, but that was the case here. And she delivers to your venue! What amazing service! I want to throw another milestone party just to get her cake services again read more

I've had the pleasure of enjoying Deanna's creations for a few years now. She always makes the cakes for our friends' special occasions. The best part about Deanna's cakes/tarts/desserts--they not only look amazing, but the taste is out of this world! A few years ago, my friends and I were obsessed with irish car bombs. No we weren't alcoholics, we just enjoyed the flavors of the Guiness and chocolate. As my birthday surprise, my friend asked Deanna to come up with something amazing. When he got to my house, imagine my surprise when I found a green bomb with little leprechauns surrounding it! And after I blew out the candle, we cut into it and it had the perfect blend of flavors! It tasted like chocolate + Guiness--just like a real Irish Car Bomb! Since that party, I've enjoyed lots of other cakes from Deanna-- a cake shaped like a tooth to celebrate a friend entering dental school... a sushi cake (because we had a sushi themed party)... you name it and Deanna's creativity oozes out. Deanna is definitely one of the most creative people I've ever met and I love ordering cakes from Artistic Bites! read more

I was looking for somebody to make frosted sugar cookies for my sister's bridal shower. I contacted a few people I was referred to but I either got no response or they were already booked. I then remembered Deanna who made one of my best friend's cakes and small desserts for her wedding. I went on to her website and saw that she made frosted sugar cookies, so I decided to contact her. Deanna was super sweet, professional, and responsive! She contacted me within a day or my inquiry. I gave her an idea of what I was looking for and she provided me a quote. Once I approved the quote, she sent me a design of the cookies, and we proceeded with the contract. I must say, Deanna definitely delivered! The cookies and the presentation were BEAUTIFUL! She incorporated all the wedding colors. They were also delicious! She has two flavors of shortbread - vanilla and lemon. I went with lemon and they did not disappoint. I ordered some extra for home and my husband thought they were amazing! He usually doesn't care for lemon either. I can't wait to try Deanna's vanilla sugar cookies as well as the other desserts and cakes that she makes. If you're looking for special occasion cakes and small bites, Artistic Bites is the way to go! Everything I've tried from Deanna has been great! She was wonderful about communication and it was definitely a smooth process/transaction with her - I can't stress this enough. I wish I knew about her when I got married! read more

It's pretty hard to expect a vendor to exceed your expectations, but Artistic Bites exceeded mine! Even with her multiple commitments, Deanna makes you feel like your needs are thee most important! She made the process very easy and really listens to your requests. For my daughter's 5th birthday party, she chose an Aladdin/Jasmine theme. It'd been a pretty busy month at work and I had absolutely no time to tend to the details (favors, decorations, kids activities, etc). I was pretty worried her friends and my guests would be disappointed. I had found a cake design my daughter had loved. Although Deanna (Artistic Bites Pastry Chef) provided me with ample design examples, I had asked Deanna if she could re-create the design my daughter had found. I was informed that Deanna always adds her own "spin/creative touch" to her designs, so I did not expect her to make it exactly like the photo. When the cake arrived, Deanna and her VERY helpful driver/delivery guy, set up the cake and the stand. Oh my! Not only did she make a beautiful display (pedestal, platter, decorative cloth to fit our theme), but she made an absolutely beautiful cake. The cake had a genie lamp and they added dry ice to make smoke come out of it (that was not part of my request)! So creative and absolutely entertaining! How many people can say that about THEIR cake creations?! Nonetheless, the cake was beautifully done, created with love, and so yummy! My guests were impressed, I adored it and even the venue we had our event at said they'd never seen anything like it! I'll post a pic, but I don't think it does it justice. We were absolutely a satisfied customer. If you're considering Artistic Bites, don't hesitate and give Deanna a call. Her customer service and artistic creations will not disappoint! read more

Tried some samples at a Yelp event in Oakland and I'm very impressed! Their flavors are all authentic, not overly sweetened, and the texture of their cakes are soft & moist. I really enjoyed the rose macaroon & mini raspberry cakes. I especially liked the mini pumpkin pie cakes I tried at one point. read more

We had probably one of the best cakes I have ever tasted in my life made by the talented Deanna! I am so glad we chose Deanna to design our cake. I really wanted lace details for our cake since my theme incorporated lace and also my wedding dress was all lace and Deanna was able to deliver on my vision. Deanna was so sweet and listened to what we wanted and offered suggestions to what she believed would work. She also made sure to work with our budget. Our cake tasting consisted of 4 flavors (Lemon raspberry, MMM cake-cookies and cream, supa mango- oh oh, and chocolate truffle) to taste test. All flavors were scrumptious (BTW I am a dessert freak) but we ultimately decided to go with the Lemon Raspberry cake for a light cake for our summer wedding. OMG it was heavenly during our cake tasting and was even better on the day of the wedding. The night of the wedding I was patiently waiting until I could have a bite of wedding cake. I loved it so much I even finished my husband's slice hahahah! Our guests enjoyed the cake too! The first time I saw our cake was of course during our cake cutting and I was so happy with how GORGEOUS it was. It was even better than what I had envisioned for it to be. The cake was light, MOIST, and full of flavor. I have had cakes at other weddings that were hella dry and really didn't taste good at all but Deanna's cakes taste HELLA DELICIOUS and MOIST.... just what a cake should be. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Deanna. You will not be disappointed. Be sure to book her pronto! I plan on ordering more cake from her for other events because she is just that good! Thanks Deanna again for fulfilling my wedding cake dreams! read more

Deanna made our wedding cake and some of the desserts for our dessert bar. She was so easy to work with, very responsive, professional, and super sweet!... and of course the most important thing, her desserts are DELICIOUS! We did a tasting and tried lots of yummy flavors- in the end we did mmchocolate cupcakes, lemon raspberry cupcakes, and red velvet along with 3 different macaron flavors (orange creamsicle, pb&j and salted caramel.. I think). All were delicious and set up perfectly! read more

You will love to work with Deanna! She was so wonderful to work with in sharing our ideas of what our perfect wedding cake and treats would be like. She was extremely patient, kind, creative, and even had suggestions that were perfect. We were thrilled to see our dream come true! Besides getting to taste test, we were excited to have a little take home box of each sample as well! The overall process was simple, easy, and very efficient. Our wedding cake was very moist, and delicious! (Lychee filling is amazing!) Three Tiered and beautiful! We Loved the colored ribbon and the simplicity of it all. We also included as part of the desserts a crafty dessert box! Inside she created tasty treats : a chocolate dipped strawberry (baseball themed), GO GIANTS, peanut butter chocolate whoopee pie(almost like a home fun pie), a raspberry macaron, and an apple cinnamon tart. I've never heard of guests looking around for boxes not being claimed, but the desserts were a hit! We were able to share them with staff at the reception and our DJ and Photo crew. Thanks for Making everything wonderful! If anyone needs desserts, please book Artistic Bites for your next party! You won't regret it. =) read more

Do you see that GORGEOUS teal and yellow cake that is the main photo on this page? Well, that was OUR wedding cake by the extremely talented pastry chef, Deanna Gin, creator of Artistic Bites!!!!!!! My husband and I love the ocean, and for our wedding, we went with teal/light blue and yellow as our colors. We had our wedding reception on the private pier at La Mar in San Francisco, which was right on the water, so the ocean was our main theme. The cake Deanna created for us just shows her creative genius. After just a short consultation, I decided to trust Deanna and let her do her thing. When I saw my wedding cake the day of the reception, I was floored. I couldn't be happier!!!! It was a perfect depiction of what I had wanted, the colors were spot on, the shells and starfish looked so real, the entire thing was PERFECT. It was EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED!! Actually, OUR cake was exactly what WE wanted. (I guess I have to use "we" now that we're married)...but seriously the cake fit in with everything else perfectly...the backdrop of the ocean, just the right amount of fancy and whimsical, but also elegant and formal. It totally reflected our personalities and tastes. I couldn't stop staring at it. I remember just wanting to stand around the cake to look at all the details and enjoy the craftsmanship. I wanted to hug Deanna for the work she had done, and I am sure I did! Plus, she delivers! I really didn't have to worry about ANYTHING before the wedding, and it came, right on time, before the reception began. It is such a Godsend when a business is so reliable and works hard to make you happy. You can just relax and enjoy your wedding day instead of running around like a maniac worried about everything. I LOVED OUR CAKE FROM DEANNA!!!! I really couldn't have asked for more. Now every time I get a chance to look at our wedding album I smile when I see our cake. She has created a memory for us of our special day that is beautiful and timeless. That in itself is priceless. THANK YOU SO MUCH DEANNA! THANK YOU ARTISTIC BITES!!!!!! We couldn't have been happier!! read more

I saw a birthday cake Deanna created on Facebook and wanted the same thing, She expressed to me she dosen't like doing the same cake twice. Her cakes are designed and created and not your everyday run of the mill flat cake with plastic toys dropped on it. She created a jaw dropping Toy Story 3 themed cake with a Lotso Huggin' Bear chillin' on a Tonka truck! The expressions on everyone's face was frikkin' priceless! We have a framed picture of my son going to town on Lotso's face in our kitchen! PRICELESS MEMORIES! Oh........BTW the cake tasted great! I can't wait to use Deanna for his 5th birthday next year! read more

Food: 5/5 - My fiance/now wife just used Artistic Bites for our wedding on 6/23/12. We sampled many other places, in SF as well as other places in the Bay, and this was by far the best in terms of taste and presentation. We first sampled Deanna's cakes at a wedding fair on the Peninsula, and we thought her cakes were some of the best we had sampled overall. We were particularly impressed with the freshness of the fruit ingredients she uses, as well as the fact that her cakes are moist, and fillings/buttercreams are perfectly sweet and well proportioned. We opted to choose raspberry lemon, which was really fresh and very light and tasty. Not only are her cakes really flavorful, but Deanna truly lives up to the 'artistic' piece of the name. We looked at many of her previous cake designs (only some of which are posted here), and she has done some extremely complex and creative designs. I've honestly only seen these types of cakes on Food Network shows. So on that end, we felt like she was by far the best in terms of the design factor of the cake. With both awesome flavor + design, we felt like this was our best option. Service: 5/5 - Deanna was extremely professional, and always very responsive despite a busy schedule. We always had a really pleasant experience both via email, phone, and in-person during tastings. Having dealt with many other vendors, and understanding that she is also actively baking during the day, I'd say she was always prompt and professional. And she was also very good about making recommendations for us, and interpreting our wants/needs to put together an awesome cake for us. Value: 5/5 - The cake was a great value, especially considering how good the flavor was and how skilled Deanna is with design. We found so many other vendors that were either good on flavor only, or good on design only, or otherwise far too expensive if they had good flavor and design. Deanna has a really great balance of the three, and because of that her value was far better than other places we researched. I'd definitely consider her in the future - for fun birthday/celebration cakes! read more

We were looking for someone who could do mini desserts and we found Artistic Bites. Her website said that she was no longer taking any more orders, but we decided to shoot an email over just to make sure. After a few emails, Deanna agreed to take on our wedding dessert order! She was patient and straightforward and we decided not to do a tasting since this was a last minute booking. Deanna did not disappoint and her desserts were amazing. We ordered fruit tarts and mango/pistachio/vanilla macarons, and they were gone before we could even try one! Our only regret was not ordering 2x or even 3x the amount, as they were an enormous hit. Deanna was amazing, desserts were amazing, will definitely recommend Artistic Bites to anyone looking for mini desserts. Note to self: will be ordering a few dozen for our own personal consumption soon! read more

Deanna did such a wonderful job on my wedding cake to the point that my family and friends, and even the workers and owners of my wedding reception venue talked about it a week later (no joke!). The taste was so satisfying and moist; sweet but not overly sweet; and enough to make you want more than one piece. In addition, the wedding cake decoration was just perfect and more than I could have imagined it to be! Deanna was also so easy to work with. We came to our tasting not really knowing what to expect or oh we wanted our cake to look like. Deanna was very patient with us, took the time to explain the different cake flavors and options to us, and even went out of her way to show us cost cutting alternatives and wedding cake styles to help is carve out our own wedding cake decor. Even when I wanted to change a few things about the cake decor after our meeting, Deanna was very patient, organized, and continued to be easy to work with despite the planning of her OWN wedding! I know I'm going on and on, but she really was THAT GREAT and I would while heartedly recommend her to anyone! read more

I've enjoyed the wonderful treats from Artistic Bites a few times now. I've had their decorative cakes, pumpkin tarts, and pecan tarts and always been impressed. First off Deanna's edible works of art are a sight that need to be seen in person. It's one thing to have a great looking cake and another to taste good and she accomplishes both with her cakes. For Thanksgiving last year I ordered pecan and pumpkin tarts to share with family and friends. The ordering process was smooth and painless and she had them ready the day before Thanksgiving. Everyone who was able to get their hands on one of the tarts were thoroughly pleased. I highly suggest Artistic Bites for your events and baked goods needs! read more

My fiance (now husband) went with Artistic Bites for our 9/3/11 wedding. We had looked into a few other places but nothing compared to Deanna's creativity and attention to detail. I didn't really know what I wanted our wedding cake to look like but Deanna patiently helped me design a cake that I thought was perfect for us - simple yet elegant. The hardest decision was choosing a cake flavor! Everything tasted so good. We finally decided on the lemon raspberry cake. On our wedding day, I was absolutely blown away at the final result. The cake was beautiful and delicious! I will definitely be contacting Deanna again for future events and will highly recommend her to anyone looking for cakes, pastries, etc. read more

Where do I begin? Deanna is amazing!!! My husband and I were elated when we walked into the barrel room at the winery we were married at, and saw the beautiful white cake with cupcakes cascading down and around like a wedding dress! My heart melted... I had this vision and she made it happen. The top tier was a 6 inch round cake with white fondant frosting, the cupcakes were definitely the show stopper... They were lemon curd with raspberry!!! OMG! They were so moist and soft. I will definitely be using Artistic Bites again! Thanks Deanna! P.S... Got to the website, my cake and venue are the background photo of her main page! :-) read more

Deanna, the pastry chef of Artistic Bites, makes some darn good sweet potato and pumpkin tarts! They are my absolute favorite. She also makes the best looking and great tasting cakes I have ever seen and eaten. The mango mousse cake, hazelnut chocolate chunk, and peanut butter chocolate whoopie pies are also DELICIOUS. I definitely recommend Artistic Bites and Deanna's yummy pastries and cakes. She makes desserts for any and all occasions and you will love all of it! UPDATE!!!! OK, I just had some of Deanna's macaroons and they are delicious! I ate the mint and raspberry flavors and if I wasn't as full as I was, I probably would have eaten more. She makes some of them into a Mickey Mouse head which are the cutest! Make sure to try hers because they're tasty treats. read more

I have been ordering cakes and other desserts from Deanna for a while and she continually delivers great food that everyone enjoys. She continues to produce better and higher quality desserts each time! Her tarts are one of my favorite deserts she makes. The pumpkin and apple tarts as well as the strawberry cheesecake in a chocolate shell tarts are my favorites. Every time I order some for parties, they are gone within minutes. How does this place only have 26 reviews?! I had the pleasure of eating some of Pastry Chef Deanna Gin's creations at Yelps Summer Sip-Nic. Soooo good! We had the absolutely scrumptious" MMM...cupcake" ; a chocolate cupcake topped with a cream cheese chocolate cookie frosting. The frosting is then covered in tiny chocolate pieces. MIND=BLOWN. I wish I could have eaten more but for some reason we had to share with the other yelpers. How unfair.:) Got a chance to speak to the pastry chef and she was totally awesome and answered all our questions. I will definitely be using Artistic Bites in the future. read more

My vision come true! I would give Deanna of Artistic Bites a million stars if I could for the amazing work she has done. Deanna has created such a beautiful and delicious wedding cake for my husband and I this past August of 2013. When I saw the cake in person I could not believe how it was exactly what I envisioned for our wedding cake to be. From our first meeting and cake tasting, Deanna has been a pleasure to work with. Very helpful and thoughtful. She was not afraid to let us know what she thinks will not work and suggested ideas that made our wedding cake perfect. Her cakes are so delicious it was really hard for my husband and I to decide on the flavor. Instead, we ended up choosing two different flavors for the 4 tier cake that we ordered. The cake was not just beautiful but absolutely delicious! We received many compliments from guest and family. Deanna also created french macarons for our wedding favors. Her french macarons are absolutely delectable. Our guest enjoyed them and wanted more! We wanted more! Deanna will definitely be our dessert lady from now on...we can't wait for our next order! We highly recommend Artistic Bites for your wedding and events. read more

I've got two things any yelper simply needs to know about Artistic Bites: 1. ORAL ECSTASY 2. QUALITY PRESENTATION I am not the biggest fan of sweets (most of the time it's like I was born without a sweet tooth), but whenever I have a bite of one Deanna's cakes or tarts, you can be certain that that bite has ALL my attention. I'm a fan of carrot cake, and I don't know many places that make a really good one, but she seems to have the ratio down with the right amount of cheesecake frosting and not an overbearing amount of cinnamon in the cake. I know carrot cake isn't really the most talked about flavor that she does (then again, not many people actually care for carrot cake like I do), but as a fan, I really appreciate that fact that she cared enough to get it right. Seriously! Oh, and another thing you MUST MUST MUST have - especially for the holidays! - is the pumpkin tarts. It's no mistake that it's such a hit with all my friends and family. That's probably the first thing everyone asks about when the season starts rolling around. And, YES, it's that time of the season!!! I've been seeing on the facebook page that there are even more flavors and desserts that I have yet to try, but let me tell you, they all make me drool! I've also heard TONS about the Strawberry Goodness flavor, the only reason I haven't tried it is because I'm not really a butter cream person. But, hey, if you like it - the consensus amongst all of the customer reviews I've read/heard of were that it is a to-die-for flavor. Another important thing that I think all yelpers should understand: the quality of work that goes into any cake you order from Deanna, no matter what size, is something you can easily see when you look at the cakes. Sure, you can go elsewhere and get a cheaper cake, but it's true when they say "you get what you pay for." With Artistic Bites, you actually get a QUALITY MADE CAKE. And let's be honest... we eat with our eyes before we eat with our stomachs! read more

Deanna is such a talented cake artist! And most importantly, her cakes taste deeeeeelicious!!!! I was so happy that my best friend referred her to me - she met all of my requirements when looking for a birthday cake for my son's 1st birthday - which was someone 1. affordable 2. makes good tasting cake and 3. makes beautiful hand crafted decor - not only did Deanna met all of my requirements, but she went above and beyond my expectations. I wanted a San Francisco theme party for my son's birthday and low and behold, Deanna's cake was a masterpiece. The strawberry shortcake SF themed cake was a huge hit at the party! I first found out about Deanna and Artistic Bites last year while planning my son's 1st bday. Unfortunately, she was already booked the day of the party and we resorted to having to use someone else. Needless to say, I was very unhappy with that cake and I vowed that for his 2nd bday, we would have the best cake ever and boy, did Deanna deliver! It started with me giving her a general idea of how I wanted the cake to look and as the process went on, she was able to create something unique (and delicious!) for my son's bday. Our flavor choices were limited bc his bday is Nov but it didn't matter, it was all still soo good! We had the MMM cake for one layer and the lemon raspberry for another. The cake itself was moist and flavorful and the filling had just the right amount of sweetness. It had to be one of the best cakes I've ever tasted and that's saying a lot since I have such a big sweet tooth. I'm very particular when it comes to details and Deanna was able to work me and my type A personality on price, colors, icing, and any other small thing that I had a question on. We also had her make cookie favors for the party and those looked and tasted great too! Our guests were super impressed and I was so thankful for Deanna and Artistic Bites. She's attentive, helpful and very professional; I wouldn't have any qualms using her services again or recommending her to anyone. Thanks again Deanna! read more

Thank you so much, Deanna!!! Deanna rescued us. At the very last minute we needed a very special cake for a very special anniversary for my dear parents. All of our correspondences were through email and phone. To this day, I have yet to meet Deanna face to face. Deanna prepared macaron favors and a custom cake. It was a splurge, but totally worth it. Believe it or not, it tasted even better the next day, although there wasn't much of left. Everyone loved it and my parents saved the custom made family tree and fondant birds! Our guests were actually taking them in the napkins to go because they were that good! Deanna was quick To respond to all of our emails and our concerns and questions. I forgot what I tasted today at the Beerwalk all I know is that I wrote on her brochure yummy, so it had to be good right! My husband is very much against fondant and unbelievingly some pastry chef's said they wouldn't do a buttercream only cake!
