I had an impressive first time experience at Artisan Salon this October. The salon had a great energy feel to it. Perfectly upscale ambiance without the boojie effect you may find in other salons. The peeps that work there are outgoing, friendly, and funny. I enjoyed my time there, but the BEST part was having my hair done by Roxanne Black. She is my go to stylist for every color, cut, and style I need and want. I leave looking and feeling 100% better than I did walking in every single time. I have hard to manage hair and she is the only one who knows how to style it. Roxanne is absolutely professionally skilled at what she does. This hair salon is the best in town. I came from another salon that totally did so much damage to my hair. I called Artisan salon and spoke with Pairs it was shortly before my 40th birthday and she went over and beyond to fit me. She even did a consultation with showed me what the colors would look like on and was very honest with and she took the time to explain things to me and was very patient with since I know very little about hair. She was able to save my hair from being cut to my ears from my chest. When I came in for the actual color she was able to get the orange out of my hair and finally had hair that was one color. She there was more to do. Pairs also suggested stuff to get that we're great quality and in my price range she didn't push the expensive that I couldn't afford. I started to cry after the very first time she made me feel like a princess and she gave me the confidence back which I actually felt beautiful from the inside out to me that means more then words. the second time I came back the stuff she told me to get worked and with her help she saved my hair the other place stripping my hair and killing it. She was very honest when I asked if it needed to be the whole head re-dyed and she said no just the touch up. I've been going going to Artisan salon since May of this year but Pairs is absolutely amazing. I seldom write reviews for salons or hair stylists, but I absolutely need to rave about Van! I was in the area for vacation/visiting family so I had some downtime to get a cut. I actually didn't need a cut because I got one a month prior when I was vacationing in SoCal, but the previous stylist gave me uneven layers. I am very picky about my hair, but I love my cut because Van truly went above and beyond! She did a great job texturizing my Asian hair without thinning it out too much, like many stylists tend to do. I could tell that she was very skilled and detailed by the techniques she used on my hair. She consistently attends workshops to update and learn new techniques, and this was very evident. My daughter had her done by Paris this week while home from college, worst color/ highlight ever!! 7 different colors and hair now breaking off at the root. Reached out to be told it was my daughter's fault and offered no refund, did however offer for her to come back in for a treatment later this week. Took my daughter to my stylist, gave her my appt, for a color correction which cost over 300. My daughter is now happy with her hair but the stylist at Artisan, Paris has said she will not offer any refund, said she should of given her a chance to correct her mess..will NEVER go back .. also messaged the owner and did not get a response. read more

This is now my forever salon and my forever stylist. I have a difficult time finding someone I can rely on every single time to give me the best cut and color. Sacramento is the worst. BUT I finally found my person! One of the perks is I don't have to take out a loan to get a professional. I suffer from perpetual lateness due in part to my extreme anxiety disorder, and in part due to my "natural clock" which is the opposite of this country's "normal." I'm more suited to European hours where they tend to eat dinner around 9pm. Or to South American countries where some hold Court at 9 or 10 o'clock at night. Anyway, my point is that this salon, unlike most, is extremely forgiving of my personal issues. I have been going to Artisan for about a year and a half now, and I don't see myself going elsewhere anytime soon! I love my stylish Jennifer and the fun atmosphere the salon has! I initially found out about Artisan when I was looking to have hair extensions placed. After researching what kind of extensions I wanted, my coworker recommended I call Artisan and book a consultation. At my consultation I met Jennifer, one of the owners of the salon and a certified extensionist- she answered all of my questions and even though she is always booked out for weeks at a time, she rearranged her schedule to get me in the very next week! I hadn't planned things out too well, and wanted the extensions done before my trip to visit my fiance in England so I could surprise him with my new look! Anyway, long story short, my extensions were beautiful and so natural looking! The color match was PERFECT and the cut helped them blend perfectly with my shorter hair. I had my extensions for just about six months, and would have had them longer, but I switched medications and my hair unfortunately started falling out and I had to have them removed. Jennifer was just as upset as I was about my hair loss, and she brought me in to have them removed at no charge. She stayed well past closing to get them all out, and to make sure that my hair was cut, colored, and styled afterward so I would feel OK about my new lack of length. It was just what I needed, and I am so grateful that she spent that time with me! Even without the extensions, I continue to make the drive from Yuba City to Sacramento to have my hair done at Artisan. I just can't imagine going anywhere else! Jennifer is not just my stylist, she is my friend, and I love catching up with her at my appointments! We update each other about our families, talk about Harry Potter and our other various obsessions (yes, we are Potter nerds!), and just work well together! Before I end my novel of a review, I have to give a shout out to another stylist at Artisan. Kate, Jennifer's former assistant and now full-time stylist, is wonderful! She is my brother's stylist now, and she always does a great job on his hair. I'm so glad I got him to stop going to those chop shops he used to frequent! I also want to say thank you to the rest of the stylists for always being so warm and welcoming, I've never been to a salon where everyone is friendly and actually have fun while working! I love it! We followed our stylist, Roxeanne, to Artisan a few years back. She is amazing! She is particularly skilled in applying color in addition to general hair cutting/styling. She also has the patience of a saint. My young adult daughter on the spectrum gets anxious and can be wiggly and squeamish but loves having her hair colored. I was dying to get a haircut because my hair was getting long and needed a trim badly, and i also had a blonde peakaboo highlight in my hair that needed a root touch up. So I go to this salon because I've been here before and haven't been too disappointed so far, until this time. (Mind you, last time I went to this salon, the girl rescheduled on me at least 5 times, this salon's workers must really like to waste your time) Anyway, I wanted to go to this salon and leave with my hair looking better and feeling healthier but what I left with was absolutely horrific. 1) My long, healthy blonde peakaboo highlight was bleached to the point where it turned white and broke off in chunks. I literally looked back as she was washing my hair and my hair looked like white noodles in her hands. Absolutely horrifying. 2) She also asked me if I wanted matching blonde highlights on my temples, which she did , (and while i enjoy the placement of them) the color of the hair was uneven and orange at the bottom, which looks like sh*t next to the fried white blonde at the bottom of my hair. So it just made the entire thing look worse but that's not entirely what I'm upset about. 3) She also wanted to patch up parts of my hair that had been stained with bleach and decided to use black dye so not only is there white/gray blonde, orange blonde, yellow blonde, and brown in my hair, but now theres also streaks of jet black hair. It just looks so bad. I'm mostly devastated that my blonde highlight that i loved so much was fried and torn apart, and if you know anything about doing your own hair, it takes a lot of effort to achieve a light blonde with the hair still remaining healthy so I was upset about loss of progress. But hair will grow back so it's not the end of the world, I'm just very upset and I was crying as she was doing my hair after seeing her rip chunks out. She gave me a haircut afterwards, which took her less than 10 mins to do and then charged me $55. She didn't charge me for the color or bleach but kind of insulting to be charged AT ALL after my entire experience there. She did nothing but say "i'm sorry there's nothing i can do" and shrugging her shoulders after taking my money, and I could do nothing else but walk out looking absolutely worse than I did when I walked in. I had spent almost 5 hours there and I just wish I never came in. If you want to avoid this kind of experience I'd probably not go to Paris at Artisan Salon for any sort of color/bleaching. At least she didn't mess up my haircut. read more

Posting this review on behalf of a non-yelper. I'm very disappointed. The quality of work I received here is definitely not what I expected for the price. The stylist's work was simply too fast, too sloppy. I'm talking about Lisa. I would describe the haircut I received from Lisa as lumpy and awkward. The stylist left behind most of my old split/dry ends, too, so my brush gets caught in my hair even though it's freshly cut. During the appointment, Lisa shot down many of my instructions, saying it wouldn't look good to do it my way. And at one point I asked her to fix something, but she said I should go home and wait and see if I like it more after a few days. I agreed to that ... Yup, still hate it. I wanted to call and ask her to fix things, but I was too worried she would make the problem worse. Our meeting had left me seriously doubting her skills. Instead, I decided to set an appointment with a salon I have visited before and know I can trust. read more

So sad because I really love the stylist (Phoebe and Whitney)... They get 5 stars!!! Unfortunately, the experience I just had made them lose a client. My husband and I just moved back from San Diego and I needed a haircut badly. I immediately called artisan salon because I worked with Phoebe and she was always amazing. Phoebe was still there but not available, so I asked for an alternate hairdresser...I was originally really impressed that they worked hard to get me in on the day I needed. I ended up with Whitney and she did an amazing job! I immediately set up my next appointment for about 8 weeks later. So why the lack of stars? I had left a message for the salon that I needed to reschedule and to please call me back. There was no call....I get that they can be busy, so I called them back. I just got off the phone with someone who turned my 5 star update to a 3. While there was nothing offensive during the conversation, I definitely felt like I was "just a number". The girl asked me what date I wanted and it wasn't available... She then rattled a couple more dates and times, but it just didn't work with my schedule. This is where the service ended. Considering my previous experiences, I was really disappointed in the lack of service today...I get that her schedule is packed and it's not the best time. I just don't get why they were not interested in going the extra mile like they did previously. The extra mile is why I returned to artisan...the receptionist from 8 weeks ago went out of her way (she asked questions to find alternatives, took my number and called me with appropriate alternatives). She made me (as a client) feel appreciated. So unfortunate because I was also going to try to make it a "spa day" and try their other services as well this time (I.e. massage and Mani/pedi). This salon is really the best you will find in sacramento. Anything you can think of that needs to be done with hair can be done here. Every single one of the stylists there are friendly, knowledgeable, and very entertaining to talk to. The services are reasonably priced and custom tailored to what you need. I have been getting my hair cut by Jen (one of the owners) for years and have had nothing but good experiences. Jason, Nikki, and other stylists are all awesome as well. This is a wonderful relaxed salon. I don't know if I have ever gotten better service. Even though I only go every six weeks or so, people remember me. It makes me like family. I followed her from Lincoln for her to do my hair, and now I go to Artisan salon which is much closer and she always does exactly what I ask for and now I don't even need to ask...
