This was my first time seeing Stephanie, and I honestly couldn't have asked for a better experience. I've had an ongoing issue in my back that always comes up during massages, and in the past, most therapists tend to just work around it or skip over it. Stephanie actually took the time to explain what was going on, educated me on why I've been feeling that tension, and was very intentional about trying to relieve the irritated nerve while still making sure I was comfortable. She consulted with me on my intake form (which is admittedly outdated) and we determined the best plan for that day's session. She listened to my concerns, checked in a few times during the appointment to check on her pressure, and greeted me with a lovely cup of green tea at the end. I have been going to Sacramento Massage studio for 3 months now. I found out about this place through a friend who's roommate is a massage therapist their, Travis Burleigh. He and I had a chance to connect again at a event and we talked about his practice and I was really intrigued by his thorough knowledge of not just the human anatomy, the kinesthetics behind how the muscles work and play against each other within the body, and also overall his demeanor was very calm which I appreciate in my massage therapists. I am writing this review now because as I said, after going for 3 months, I really appreciated the care I have received from Travis. Every time I go into the studio he greets me by the door, ask how things are going to get a sense of how my day is to see energetically where I'm at, and we discuss the potential problem areas that I would like to focus on for the session. Has said earlier, Travis's calm energy and demeanor is a wonderful add-on to the session. If you would like to chat he will chat with you if you want quiet he will be quiet and just go to work on the spots you talked about. And one big call out, I am an individual that really does love a deeper massage and I explained that to Travis and each time he delivers with the pressure which is something I do need for myself. Overall I am quite happy with the service I get from Travis and the price is pretty reasonable for 1 hour, 110, massage and I say that because I have done at least five other massage studios in the downtown Sacramento area that were roughly close to 150 for an hour. This is a great, expert massage studio. Isaac is a gem -- he uses the perfect amount of prompts to check on pressure level, my comfort, spots to avoid. I'm not a talker during massages and I appreciate that Isaac adjusts. I love that he begins and ends our sessions with deep breaths -- it's a great way to ground yourself. He's always courteous, flexible, and attentive. The studio is not a spa, so if you need a shower, whirlpool, lavender eye masks, etc. this isn't for you (though there is water, tea, mints, and health and beauty supplies to refresh after your session). The actual massages, relaxation, and environment are just as plush. I think pricing is super reasonable for the level of massage service and skill. The front office always works with me to reschedule and fit in a session. No complaints. Would recommend -- and have done so -- highly. read more

I've had various massage therapists throughout the years (at different studios), but no one as gentle as Kat. I always thought, the tougher (pressure wise) the massage, then the more benefits you receive. I've been so wrong! I'm active and have a stressful job. I'm now a regular and believe this is much needed for my mental and physical health. Let me start out by saying - My first experience here was definitely more of a 3 STAR experience, but that was massage therapist based. I'd go back to try out another staff member and want to give the business a fair shot. I also have done most of my recent massages in more of a luxury spa environment so I adjusted my expectations a bit. One note to whoever manages the lobby area of the building - for the love of gawd...please put a nonslip pad under the area rug in the foyer. It's a gorgeous rug, but I slipped on it within being 3 seconds in the door. Convenient location, beautiful building, calming environment, the individual rooms for the massage are really nice, cozy, and calm. And you really can't beat the price point for a 90 minute massage. I enjoyed the aromatherapy and essential oils used and I didn't walk out of my appointment feeling overly oily and gross. I would not book with the massage therapist, Tyler, again. I felt very rushed from the moment I walked in the door (10mins before my appointment start time), he was not very welcoming, and I just felt like he gave me a very generic and lackluster massage. I felt like he was bored the whole time and just kind of phoned it in. Despite me taking the time to put a lot of the detail on my intake form and stating he could use more pressure during my massage and calling out that my hips really could use some love, he adjusted nothing to accommodate. I mean, listen, a massage is a massage and they are always great and relaxing; but I didn't walk away feel like any of my kinks were worked out. I don't even need deep tissue... I'm a wimp! Which is why I booked the "integrated" since it mentioned Swedish/deep tissue/trigger point/ and soft tissue. But I definitely could have used more pressure and he didn't check in with me at all outside of the first like 5 minutes. I guess next time I should book a deep tissue massage and just ask for them to back off the pressure. The thing is though, there is no price difference between the two. Considering I came a little early, I wish he would have gotten to know my needs a little better ahead of time and we probably could have established I need a little more deep tissue work. Heck, if there was a price difference, he could have upsold me! Overall, the service was kind of a miss for me. read more
