And their follow-up to my subsequent questions has also been excellent. From the first inquiry over the Artisan website (www.artisanelectricinc.com) to the first conversations with the rep about the various system options; and on through the design and layout process with him; on into the site preparation walk-through with the general foreman; and all throughout the install experience with the crew. The crew was always prompt, professional, and managed a clean, well-organized work project space in/around our house, and they were all super pleasant to work with. Strong team! More to the point when we hit an install hiccup -- upon seeing the panels layout on the front street side of our low flat roof and were unhappy with the way it looked (not Artisan's fault but a failure of imagination on our part) -- we deeply appreciated the quick response to my email about it from our Artisan rep and the crew's professional "let's put our heads together and find a solution" mentality. In my experience that's where the rubber really hits the road with any contractor and everyone involved managed an efficient, calm, and solutions-oriented approach in partnership with us that ended up with an even-better solution. Artisan Electric is NOT out of business. They are simply VERY BUSY. I went directly to their office in Georgetown and spoke to the people there, got some direct phone numbers, and eventually got our solar panel issue resolved. Everyone was SUPER nice, friendly, apologetic for not being as available as they would like to be, and were absolutely skilled and professional when they were able to get to our problem. I guess it is one of those good/bad problems. Good that so many people in and around Seattle are getting solar panels, bad that the number of people in the industry isn't enough to keep up with the demand in a timely manner. read more

I got my solar panels installed in 2021. The install went smoothly and they were done in the time frame. Overall I'm happy with their work. The only difference between their warranty and what they said their warranty covers when I signed my agreement, initially they stated the warranty covered labor and parts. After having a couple of things fail and need to be replaced, all parts are warrantied, a solar panel that failed was covered, but the labor to switch it out for the new replacement panel wasn't covered. My gateway is failing and that part will be replaced under warranty but the labor is approximately $300 to install the new gateway. Other companies had cheaper installation costs, Artisan words their warranty in such a way that parts and labor seemed like they were covered so I went with the company that cost a bit more. Artisan is a good company, but choose them with the understanding that their labor is not covered during warranty work. If another company has a smaller installation cost with a similar length of time warranty and no labor coverage, they might be equivalent to Artisan. read more

Thomas was super helpful taking us through the process from quote to our tax documents after installation. High end products at a reasonable price has made our decision to go solar totally worth it. I hired Artisan Electric to install a system on my roof. I have a flat roof and was worried about potential leaks. They said it's no problem and they could use ballast and just mount the panels to rack that are weighted down and no penetrations into the roof. That sounded awesome to me and I moved forward with getting a loan, etc. Then, the permits were denied. It turned out that my roof wasn't design to support the load. Artisan had never let me know this may be an issue. They looked for ways around it, but I didn't want to risk anything with my roof. I had already given a deposit and Artisan would not refund my money, stated they had incurred sales expenses, etc. I never got my money back and the only way I can is by taking them to small claims court. Not good customer service. Not good accountability for what should have been their expertise. Avoid getting into a situation like this. read more

Wanted to get solar installed got a number of competitive quotes. The reason I went with Artisan was the extremely friendly service from Jeff Bennett, he was very patient taking extra time to explain the process. The price was also comparable with the other quotes I received. I was really glad I went with Artisan their entire process from start to end is designed to keep you in the loop with what is going on. They are very flexible and communicative. They did exactly what they said they would each and every time. Quality install (no roof leaks!) and worked with me to minimize the cosmetics of the install to the street front. It really made me feel like that they had my back during the entire process and really cared about their work. Case in point - Jeff went to bat for me when PSE screwed up and was taking a really long time to turn the system on (30+ days - out of Artisan's control), which I really appreciated. Only suggestion I would have for them for future improvement would be to make sure they seal the lines coming in and out of the house and not using blue painters tape for the labels, but that was caught on the inspection and fixed promptly. read more

I will consider giving five stars when the last of the work is done. It's hard to find an electric company that work on a solar panel when they didn't install them. Unfortunately, the company that I went through went out of business a few years ago. I had a roof leak because of how the solar panel was installed, and their worker fixed it, efficiently, and that happened before the winter, and I have had no leaks cents. He also Fixed a lot of the flashing that he thought was incorrectly done. I also have a failed inverter on the main unit. They are in the process of repairing that now. It's still under warranty even though they didn't do it, but the company that I am under warranty with this will allow them to transfer the ownership of the warranty. So far they've been very responsive, and I am happy with the service and thrilled to get my solar panels back up and running . read more

We had Artisan install solar panels on our roof in 2014, and we were impressed at the time. Now that we've needed various kinds of support over the years, we recommend them even more. Most recent was summer/fall 2021 'removal and reinstall' when we needed a new roof. (ugh). Really great follow-through, communication, very responsive, very careful. You know, initially I wrote a 5-start review because as far as electric work is concerned, they were pretty good. Timely, good communication, good work, and aside from them forgetting a few little things here and there, I had nothing to complain about. But, there is one no - you should definitely not hire them if budget is a concern. I'll explain. They came here to do two jobs, and while they were working, I asked for a quote to add an additional outlet, along the same path where they were already installing one. On their end, this would've required just another wire, another breaker, and based on their other job, about 10 minutes of dinking around. They quoted me either 200 or 300 bucks for this, and just out of principle I said no because 300 bucks for 10 minutes for an electrician isn't going to happen. Day light robbery. Now, a few years later, every single time I need an additional outlet where I don't have one, I remember Artisanal Electric, and every single time not with the best thoughts. If you have money to throw around, I am sure they'd do a fabulous job, but if you don't, be mindful. read more

Highly recommend Artisan Electric for their quality work and excellent service! We selected them for our Tesla wall charger installation bid. They not only came in lower than the three other vendors we contacted, they proactively saved us on sales tax for EV in WA state! None of the other vendors mentioned it and ALL included tax in their quote. We had no idea but it just requires a simple paperwork that Artisan handled for us. Shawn came out to install our charger promptly and quickly, and even took care to sweep up the dust from the small drill holes. Inspection was also painless and easy to resolve. We have been so happy with Artisan! We had an appointment for them to work on a circuit problem in March 2020 and rescheduled due to Covid until September. The rescheduled date was during bad smoky air quality so we rescheduled to the next week. They were really accommodating with our requests. When electrician Cole came over he found a pretty scary electrical problem not on the original bid, made it safe, and told us he would squeeze us in the next day. He came back after his morning job the next day and worked until 6 p.m. getting everything working right and safe. We are so relieved and were really impressed with how hard he worked and his conscientiousness. They're are go-to electric company now! read more

I wish I have been having the experience with Artisan that we anticipated based upon the other reviews and our first impressions. We are getting solar panels and a new electrical panel. We interviewed two solar panel companies and chose Artisan because it's union and had a positive impression based upon our assessment with Gordon. Since that initial assessment it has been a circus... have I mentioned that we haven't even had them start any work yet?! Our project manager has been changed without us being informed. There has been virtually no communication about scheduling or changes that hasn't been initiated by us. The replacement of our electrical panel was scheduled without consulting us or even informing us. It was also scheduled after our panel installation, which was contradictory to what we'd been promised and pushes back our ability to actually benefit from the panels. This poor communication also includes me having to call this morning an hour and a half after our solar panel installation was scheduled to start to be informed that another guy was supposed to call to let me know that they are pushing back the start date two days-good thing I didn't take the day off work to accommodate them! Since they don't work over the weekend, this pushes us back 5 days. They did initiate contact to let us know that they would need $3000 more than the estimate because they had to change the electrical connection from the city. This was after my husband asked two separate assessors if this would be necessary and was told no and given no indication that this was a possibility. My husband spoke with the company's owner, still no improvement on communication. If my review is confusing, I apologize, we have been confused through this entire process; it's unclear who is in charge of what, roles change and communication is terrible. Again, have I mentioned that the actual work hasn't even begun! I am hoping they will find a way to pull this out of the toilet! This is a HUGE investment for us and it's beyond insulting how our investment in the company has been repeatedly disrespected. read more

I've always been taught to leave a place better than you found it. Installing our new solar system is a small part we can do to help reduce our carbon footprint. But if you are reading this, you already know that. For our project, we contacted several companies. Some companies used the "time-share condo sales approach" others just gave a verbal quote over the phone. Others just looked at satellite images and emailed us their proposal. Artisan Electric did not do any of these poor customer service methods. When I contacted them, they were out to the house within a few days. They took detailed measurements and gave us an initial proposal on the spot. Then they went back to the office to adjust their initial proposal to reflect their site visit and measurements for a revised proposal. All along the way, we were kept informed. Their communication was top notch. When we signed the contract and arranged for the solar loan (they were able to negotiate a better rate for us) we were on the calendar for the install. Before the actual install week (it took about 4 days to do our project) their job foreman came out to inspect the site as well so that he was aware of any possible issues. The crew were on time and very professional. Their workmanship was extremely neat and professional. After everything was installed their foreman was on site for the city inspections (mechanical and electrical). All passed without any issue. Lastly our salesperson came back out for the final walk-through. He went over the entire system and answered any additional questions. I wish all contractors can take a lesson from Artisan on customer service. I highly recommend Artisan. read more

I had high hopes for Artisan. They had come highly recommended. We contracted them to do Solar Panels as well as all the electrical for a major remodel. While they did a decent job on the solar, the electrical was a nightmare. Most of the work was performed by Cole Terrance. We had lots of innovative lighting schemes throughout the house. Cole approached it as if he were working with old-fashioned incandescent lighting. We primarily used LED that required some knowledge of special requirements. Cole plowed ahead not asking questions and when he was told specific information such as not putting the drivers in the attic because they can become overheated, he put them there anyway. Many of the specialty cans we ordered were placed in the wrong location. The list goes on. Not using the 90 degree corners provided for the under cabinet lighting. Sloppy installation of the toe kick lighting. In addition, he had a bad attitude, complaining to us, the homeowners, that the contractors were disorganized. When we encouraged him to call our lighting designer, he balked. We have spent thousands of dollars buying new fixtures and re-installing at least 50 percent of the light fixtures. When we tried to talk to Artisan about it, they said they couldn't help because they set up Cole to work with the contractors "on the side". read more

Artisan Electric Rocks! We had a solar system installed by Artisan Electric recently and have been impressed every step of the way. All the latest technology, expertly installed, minimal physical alterations to our structure and the most polite, knowledgable staff on this planet. 28 solar panels, Energy Storage System (whole home battery), new production panel box and new critical load panel box, new exterior production meter and new exterior battery meter. Also a new WiFi extender for the basement of our house so the system can communicate with Sunpower monitors - which we can track on our home computers. Artisan Electric handled ALL permits and questions. Seattle City Light was a pain in the butt - so if you're dealing with them, pack your patience! They obviously don't like losing our business! Artisan installed EV charger for us. They were one of the Tesla recommended contractors. I received bids from (3) other contractors as well. It was clear they had the experience and knew what they were doing. Artisan was most competitively priced and they advised that in WA state there is an incentive that sales tax does not apply to newly installed EV chargers (something one of the other contractors that bid the job failed to point out). The electricians that came to our house were very friendly and courteous and did a great job explaining what they would be doing and double checking where I wanted the unit installed. Once work was completed they left my garage clean. They scheduled the city inspector which was completed a couple of weeks after initial install. The city inspector even commented what a nice clean install it was (they had to run it from breaker box to opposite wall which included a few twists and turns and was 35 feet). Great job all around and easy to work with. I would definitely higher Artisan again if I have a need for another electrical contractor. read more

Artisan doesn't usually do small jobs like the one we needed, but they were working on a larger project in our building, so agreed to fit us in and scheduled us for the following week. It took just about an hour to troubleshoot and fix the outlet that had mysteriously stopped working in our older building, and the electrician was friendly, fast, and knowledgeable about our old building's system. We didn't receive the bill until a couple of weeks later and it would have been good to get that earlier or just after the work was done, but that doesn't change the 5 stars here. It was a little pricey, but given that they took a tiny job they normally would not have been available for, were easy to work with, and fixed the problem quickly, this was a good value for us. read more

My PV system was installed in October 2020, and I received outstanding service from Artisan Electric. They were professional and friendly. The design we finalized was close to Evan's recommendations, and was perfect for my home. It was well worth the many questions that I asked to become well-informed about the process, and all on the Artisan staff were patient with me and even seemed to appreciate my level of detailed interest. The installation process took about three days, and the lead electrician, the site coordinator, along the roof crew, were all polite and considerate, as well as extremely knowledgeable. I got the strong impression that the employees enjoyed their work and that the company is very well-managed. I did get another bid before choosing Artisan, and I am so happy that I asked Artisan Electric to design and install my system. I appreciate that Artisan is a union shop, yet the price for the other bid that I got was nearly the same price (but with less desirable choices for my installation), plus the other company's consultant couldn't answer quite a few of my questions. I found that Artisan designers were extremely well informed leaders in the PV industry in our area. Since Artisan can also provide other electrical services, I feel confident that my investment will be better protected, and that this company will be around to service my system for many years. I met Artisan Electric for the first time in Tacoma at a home show. We started chatting about some changes we wanted to make in our house related to electric car chargers. It was very soon clear that they understand their business and are specializing on renewable energy. In basically a month we expanded the project to replace main panel, install sub panel on the opposite side of the house, install car charging plug, and put 6.6 kW of solar panels on the roof. The installation process was flawless. There always are few things that do not work perfectly and they fixed them instantly (for example we had a misunderstanding where to pull a conduit and they removed it and installed a new one without any discussion). The work from A to Z was of highest quality. The final walk through was very detailed and informative. The best, there was no need since then to do any further maintenance, no loose screw, no problem anywhere. This review is written late... the whole project finished months ago. However I do not write reviews until the new install has proven its quality. We generate over 2.3 MWh of solar energy since installation, the car is charged every day, we are definitely not a small user of electricity at the end, and everything is perfect. Not just this, but few people already stopped by asking about details... for example people living close that also have solar on their roof were wondering about the safety switches that are installed, because what their installer used not just looks badly, but is also in the face of everyone that passed by that could disconnect their solar, instead of having a clearly labeled safety switch where it should be. We talked with two solar companies prior to deciding who to go with. We liked Artisan far and away better. We felt they were very honest about everything and their salesperson was not at all pushy. They took a lot of time to help us decide what size system would be best for us and how to configure it. When it came time for the install, the workers were fast and super courteous. They did a great job. Artisan made sure to get us temporarily connected to the grid quickly even when it took Seattle City Light awhile to get out and approve everything. They met with us individually after to make sure we understood how everything worked and connected with us a the 1 year mark to make sure we didn't have any concerns.
