The installers worked well, cleaned up after themselves, had to come out 2 more times than they initially stated. Install was relatively smooth. We were told by the installation manager, Dickson, that the city would replace our existing meter for a two way meter within maximum 3 months. This seems mostly the fault of Seattle City Light, with whom it seems nearly impossible to communicate. Without the two way meter, I'm still paying for electricity even though I have a functioning solar panel system on my roof - 8 months after the installation was complete. NW Wind & Solar gets a 1 star review because they haven't returned phone calls or email since the install was complete and are doing a terrible job advocating for their customer (me) with Seattle City Light. The receptionist I spoke with said they had re-organized but still no response from them. The previous reviews on Yelp were initially reassuring but something has changed at this company and I cannot recommend them at all. read more

First, this company is fantastic. From start to finish they were on the spot and highly professional. I highly recommend them. The longer version -- I had wanted to have solar for over a decade, but kept putting things off. After I contacted NW Wind and Solar they were excellent at explaining the process, talking me through any concerns I had and how the whole process goes down. They were easy to contact, easy to work with, they have multiple people who are highly knowledgeable about every aspect of the installation and stayed in touch with me after the installation to help me with getting set up with Seattle City Light. (As an aside, Seattle City Light is not easy to work with, but NW Wind and Solar did the majority of the leg work with them as well). Bottom line -- the money I spent for a solar system is the best money I have ever spent and I am really proud to be carbon free in terms of all of our electricity usage, heating and cooling. It was a hefty up front cost, but my bi-monthly electricity bill is now zero (ok, its $10 since Seattle City Light has a "service fee" they charge if you have a bill of zero) and I am going to get a large tax credit. Based on the first 6 months of costs, I will break even in 7 years and then after that it's all money in the bank. I love this company, I love my solar system and I hope you will hire this great group of people. read more

We had a full solar array installed on our flat roof home in NE Seattle. Paige Heggie was very helpful in answering all our questions, and the project was installed as we understood and agreed. Some challenges were presented to the installation crew relating to our circuit panel and a couple of other issues, and the company dealt with all changes without any additional charges to us, despite some increases in the company's cost for the project. We've had solar panels installed on 3 houses in the last 6 years and used NWWS for every install. We've been very happy with their responsiveness to questions, quality of the install, and perseverance in dealing with the city utility to get everything set up for us. For two of the installations there were unusual features that required them to know what they were doing (panels on garage roof of one house rather than house roof, and adding electrical service to a nearby shed at the same time as another install). Highly recommend NW Wind & Solar! They installed a 6.96 KW itek 24 panel system on our modern home in the Bryant neighborhood of Seattle. We received 4 quotes and solar system recommendations from Seattle area solar companies. NW Wind & Solar came in with the lowest bid with the same exact solar panels, hardware and inverter. Their sales person Max was on-time for several appointments, prompt with follow-up emails and phone calls. Dickson the project planner listened about how important the fit and finish work was to us. He delivered a well planned out solar system and reviewed the layout with us. Jim the project foreman and his team took their time installing the system. The entire team always took the time to discuss concerns we had during the installation and make changes if needed. We have a 4 year old modern home with a white TPO roof that required 48 stand-offs and TPO boots to cover. The roofing company who manufactured the TPO boots made half of them the wrong size. Jim quickly pointed it out its better to have them re-made to do the job right! This a caused a delay for a few days to get them remained to finish the job correctly. Their bid was the best, and I must say their references speak for themselves, since they include some of the work on the all-green Bullitt building at 16th and E. Madison St. Dickson was my project manager and two of the actual workmen from SME electrical contractors were Josh and Jose. Everyone was just so friendly and informative. My project is on top of a 1650 sq ft townhouse and took 13 solar panels. As another reviewer noted, this is a super time to be purchasing solar because of the federal and local financial incentives, which will start decreasing after 2015 if the original 30% federal rebate isn't extended. The installation was completed yesterday afternoon and I must say it was a somewhat euphoric feeling to sit in my townhouse at 7:30 pm with the sun still out and to know that my townhouse roof was working for ME!
