He came out in a timely manner and scheduled us for install within a week. It was well over 100 degrees on the two days when our turf was installed. The install crew worked hard and got everything done (about 1,000 square feet) in two days. I did see cigarette butts and leftover trash in the yard after they left. The install looked decent at first. When I really got to look at it, there were two visible horizontal seams running the width of the turf. Nash sent the workers back out and they attempted to tidy up the seams, but ultimately told us the turf was shorter so we would see seams. We looked again, and there was about a half inch gap in one of the seams near a corner in the yard. They again came out and cut a new piece and fixed it, kind of. The more I walk around and looked at the job, I've noticed there are significant lumps and the surface is kind of rolling instead of flat. We had guests over and they even commented how our turf wasn't flat like other installs. Around the edges, the compaction was poor and the turf nails come up out of the ground with no retention at all. This causes the edge of the turf to lift up. We emailed Nash a third time but never heard back about this issue. It was a safety hazard with guests coming over so we purchased additional nails and fixed a portion of the issue. The more I researched turf install, I realized I don't believe they installed our turf with seam tape, glue, or any form of adhesive or joining. I've seen short turf and putting greens without any visible seams, so I don't understand why that would be an excuse. Overall, Nash was an upstanding guy who was respectful of our time. His pricing was average, and wasn't on the high or low end of the estimates we received. I don't believe any of the above issues were related to him, but the persons he hired to do the job. I was a bit surprised when we didn't hear anything from him when the job was complete, and he didn't stop by to inspect the work. I'm torn on this review because, like I said, I don't think it was his fault but the people he contracts with for the installs. I feel like we paid a lot of money for a lower end install, which is really disappointing and really still doesn't sit right with me.

Andrew H. came to my property on August 13, 2025, to give me a quote for installing pavers throughout my backyard. I explained very clearly that my number one requirement was correcting the slope so that rainwater would no longer flow toward my home. This was confirmed as a priority after multiple inspections from roof gutter companies and landscapers. I was scheduled to be out of town for five weeks, and I initially planned to wait until I got back. But Andrew assured me multiple times that they regularly work while homeowners are away, that everything would be monitored, and that I would return to a finished project done correctly in less than a week. Based on that reassurance, I agreed to let the project begin while I was gone. That decision turned into a nightmare. Project Problems From Day 1: Before work even began, I asked them to cover certain areas to prevent damage during concrete removal. 9/9/25: - Their vendor dropped pallets of pavers directly in front of my garage, completely blocking access. - The crew then said their wheelbarrows couldn't fit through the side gate because of how the AC unit was positioned. Andrew attempted to charge me $1,000 to move the AC the next day or $500 to do it on Saturday. - Andrew then insisted they could access the yard through my garage instead. I told him that was impossible due to the size of the wheelbarrows and the narrow door. He argued it would work and scheduled the job for September 13. Because of all this, I had to end my trip early, driving back from Northern California with my dogs on short notice. 9/12/25: When I checked my cameras, I saw the workers using the same wheelbarrows they said wouldn't fit and they did use the side gate anyway. When I got home, I saw: - My side gate pulled apart - My AC unit pushed up against the wall and held by a large rock None of this was discussed or approved. Andrew, who had been very present during the quote process, was nowhere to be found during the actual work. I ended up dealing with Jose (his manager?) instead. Even the lead worker, Eric, confirmed that the wheelbarrows never would have fit through the garage exactly what I had said from the beginning. And to make things worse, because their pallets blocked my garage, I couldn't have moved my car for 2 weeks. 9/17-18/25: - Rain water flows inside the garage because pavers were installed higher than door step. Their resolution was to put a a small circular drain in front of the door. 9/25/25: They "finished" the job, but the list of issues was long: - The side gate wouldn't open because they installed the pavers too high (they trimmed down the gate to resolve). - Polymeric sand was not installed correctly: it was patchy, missing in several areas. - My sliding door track was damaged from concrete debris and sand, even though I repeatedly asked them to cover it. - Worst of all: the paver grade was installed HIGHER than the threshold of my garage side door, exactly what I told them NOT to do. This means water gets trapped and pushed inside my garage; this was the entire problem I hired them to fix. The small drain did not do anything. It rained again from 11/15 - 11/21/25, and the water issues persist to this day. The most important part of the project and the reason I did it at all was not resolved. Andrew keeps mentioning that I need to have rain gutters installed, but I had them before and I know that it was not the issue. I had multiple vendors come out again for sanity check to tell me that gutters won't solve the drainage issue. From the misleading reassurances, to the damage to my property, to the poor workmanship, to the complete lack of accountability, this has been one of the worst contractor experiences I've ever had. I cannot recommend Rock N Block. I trusted them with an important project, and instead I'm left with new problems, unresolved issues, and property damage.

My wife and I hired this contractor and paid the full contract amount. After payment, the owner…read morefiled a mechanic's lien against our property that was later found to be fraudulent -- overbilled for unsigned change orders and overtime for labor that was never paid to workers. The lien encumbered our property for three years. The work itself was a complete failure. The retaining wall collapsed. The owner never returned to repair defects or clean up after being paid in full. We had to hire private labor and purchase materials ourselves to address the damage. After an 16-18 month investigation, the California State License Board (CSLB) found 17 violations against this contractor's license, including 11 misdemeanor charges. He was fined $6,000. The investment property was listed for sale and could not sell due to the construction defects and the lien on title. We ultimately lost the property. All of this is documented public record. He never tried to upsell me, was very straight forward and honest, had great ideas, and was very flexible when I kept changing/adding things I wanted done. Plus, he was thousands of dollars cheaper than the 3 other quotes I got and more services were included. A couple days before the project was to start, he came back over to make sure everything was correct and we were on the same page (I changed multiple things I wanted done since he had come over for the initial estimate). The crew arrived on time and they were finished a few days earlier than expected. They did so many extra things for me (removed a tree stump and plants that were outside of where the turf was going, added weed barrier in my planter beds, made sure the irrigation was working, among other things) and I'm so thankful. When the job was finished, I somehow over paid Efren. He stopped by my house and dropped off a check for the amount I overpaid. I never would have known I did that, but he was so honest, makes me love his company even more! The turf looks fantastic and we are so happy with the job they did. I cannot recommend them enough! It's important so I don't have to rip out pavers to find the lids next time. Heck they even made the underside of the lids look clean. Eco also didn't try to upsell on more than I wanted to do and offered a reasonable price right up front.
