Wei's Fashions

Wei's Fashions

I have been going to Wei's Fashion for years and they have helped with all of my alterations. From…read morecinching pants' waists and hemming clothes, all the way to converting my mom's wedding dress into a reception dress for my wedding, Wei's fashion can do it all. I couldn't recommend them highly enough!

In fact, this is about a 35 minute drive for me now but it is worth it because it is SO HARD to find a good and reliable tailor/seamstress that won't cost an arm and a leg. The thing I really like about the owner is that she tells you upfront what something will cost to alter. If she thinks it's too expensive to tailor, she'll even try to talk you out of getting the service. Where do you get that level of transparency or integrity in a business anymore?! I had the zipper bust on a collegiate cowl-necked pullover that I love. Wei told me it would cost $26 to fix because the zipper was so long and she discouraged me from getting it repaired and told me I should just get a new pullover. However she agreed to do the job and when I got it back it looked awesome. The zipper that Wei replaced it with somehow made the pullover look - more expensive? It was well worth the $26. I get office slacks and jeans hemmed, dresses taken in, etc. Wei does excellent work, she is very reliable and I don't get sticker shock from her prices.

This is my go to needlepoint store. I first wandered into the store one Saturday when my daughter…read morewas painting pottery next door. I had always wanted to try to needlepoint so I went in. Dawn, the owner was really helpful & put me at ease right away. She took the time to help me pick out my first piece & the fibers to use. She said "There are no needlepoint police" that helped me not to worry whether I was stitching it correctly or not. I've been an avid stitcher ever since! They have since moved to Mason. I went today & even though it was further for me it was worth the drive! It's probably more convenient for a lot of people. Check it out. You will be happy you did!

A Stitch Above is another high quality and unique shop in Madeira, centered on meeting your…read moreneedlepoint project needs. If you are a beginner, they can get you on track with one of their beginner level classes, although they even offer classes for the more advanced needlepointers, if you will, often taught by "nationally recognized teachers." A Stitch Above is on the second floor of the Olde Madeira Plaza, and like many of its neighboring shops it has been in its present location for many years (20 to be exact). A Stitch Above has a vast array of preprinted canvases, as well as one of Cincinnati's larger selections of fiber. There were just SO many different fibers from all different brands and colors. They also are glad to assist customers with the finishing of their projects, and have the necessary finishing products for pillows, belts, and even sandals. Speaking of belts, they had some local team belts including the Reds, Bengals, Buckeyes, and UK, while they can also get a hold of designs for other teams and universities. A somewhat funny item they also sell at A Stitch Above are Peepers brand reading glasses, which could probably come in handy if you are working on a tiny needlepoint project. Another thing I liked was the Cincinnati skyline-themed canvases, although they are priced at $94.75.
