I can't say enough when it comes to my experience at Magic Needle Alterations and Rita. I had them hem three pair of pants. They completed the work in three days. The work was top notch and exactly what I needed. I enjoyed meeting Rita. I've read a few comments about her needing to learn English. I understood her and she me just fine. My husband took 4 pairs of pants there to have them hemmed and the legs taken in. They charged him $72. Five days later, his pants were ready. When he returned to pick up his pants, the only thing done to them was they were hemmed. When he asked them why they didn't also taper them, he was told he would have to speak to the owner. My husband was kind of desperate for these pants so he asked the guy if he could please taper them like he asked... and he even offered to pay again/more. He was told he had to wait till the owner was back; she was gone for a few days. So, long story short, they overcharged and they didn't do what was asked. My husband ended up buying a sewing machine for $200 and doing it himself. Not cool. read more

Brought in a bridesmaids dress to be altered and I understand to get things right it take a couple of visits.... I didn't expect 6 and she ruined the dress! I asked her to take in at the waist and she said "no can't do have to do in shoulders..." well the shoulders are lace and it completely changed the way the dress sat on me and the bra cups sat too high and the arm holes were too tight. I told her one was tighter than the other and she was like "no I cut same amount... well lady my shoulders are different heights. And she was like well fix I guess. I Skyped my friend to show her the dress (she lives in Texas and is in fashion) and she said the woman was lazy and didn't want to take it in from the waist and just decided to cut the lace on the top. For all the alterations and the visits and they couldn't find my original invoice because it was done on paper - cost me 100 bucks all together and my mother is attempting to fix it as we speak. My family and I have used the services here numerous times for various alterations and probably spent over 1000.00 on alterations the latter part of this year alone. Generally the the work done has been good, despite the fact that the owner and staff do not have good communication skills or customer service. So I guess because there are not many tailors in the area, I overlooked this. Recently I took in 6 expensive sweaters to be altered. After trying on the sweaters, I noticed on 4 of them the alterations done on left side was not exactly straight compared to the right side. Basically the left line was significantly going towards the backside rather than straight down, which was obvious. I immediately went back up to explain the issue and the owner became immediately rude and denied that there was an issue. Even after trying on one of the sweaters and obviously showing her the unevenness of the two sides, she still denied anything was wrong and said maybe it's my body. She was extremely rude even in front of other customers standing there and offered to do nothing to correct the situation, after I have already spent over 100.00 on alterations. Again I am a repeat customer and have never ever complained before. I was extremely polite in explaining the situation despite here not demonstrating any customer service skills. She simply became angry and continued to deny anything was wrong. Obviously my family will no longer support this business. The owner and other staff needs to learn communication and customer service skills. I refuse to continue supporting businesses that are rude and feel they can operate a business without being respectful to customers and standing behind their service. Now I have to find another place to fix the problem and spend more money. read more

We've been here a few times to have clothing and kids' sports uniforms altered. They do a pretty good job with alterations, however, they really need to work on their customer service skills. They're like "The Soup Nazi" on Seinfeld - if you can put up with their rude behavior, you'll probably be happy with the alterations. read more

The service is prompt and the turn around seems to be quick. I've been here several times and have never been disappointed. In fact, in one instance when a hem in an alteration she did around a year ago came lose/undone, she offered to fix it free of charge, no questions asked. I have gone here probably 7x and spent $400-$500. The last time I went I asked for the bra keeper snaps to be kept in my dress. I picked up item and noticed at home they were gone. I returned to store with dress to have them put back on. The older woman said that first she has to find original invoice from 1-2 weeks ago in their papers. If person who wrote invoice on it didn't explicitly write on there to keep them then I have to pay for it. I'm not paying for their mistake and oversight. They just lost a great customer today over a very small thing. Honestly it would take them 15 minutes or $5-$10. read more

Originally I went there because they were closer to work, but now I don't work in the area but I still go there because they do such a good job.. I read some of the negative reviews online but decided to give them a try on some simple curtain hem jobs. Not only did they get the measurements wrong but they hemmed them to different lengths. Their people skills are nonexistent but they did fix them. Gave them a second chance on another job and they did exactly the same thing! 2 pair of curtains to be hemmed all to the same length but they are not only too long but the 4 curtains vary in length by more than an inch! Oh, there expensive too! I will not be going back but given the way they act, I'm sure they don't care. read more

Only been here once so far, but the search is over. For girls like me who fit awkwardly in anything in the store, a seamstress is like a fairy godmother. The seams of one of my work skirts was unraveling with the inner fabric popping out, and they took care of it right away. I paid about $5 plus tax. went there yesterday to have a very expensive dress altered. I asked for Irina the owner because the other lady is not very friendly. SHe said she was not there. I explained what I needed and that the dress was a very expensive one and wanted to be sure that they felt comfortable. SHe was clearly angry and asked why. I explained that the last two experiences I had there were not great (not with Irina but with the other one who charged me for something she should not have and the job was not great). The woman who helped me was fast and meticulous when measuring me for alterations. She explained what could be done and offered some suggestions to make it look better. Magic Needle Alterations took my wedding dress, made it fit perfectly and had it ready the day promised (which was super fast) for a reasonable price. I saw some of the other reviews that mentioned rudeness. I did not find them to be rude but found them to be businesslike. They seem to have a lot of work to do and kept things prompt. I don't need someone to be my best friend, I need them to do an awesome job for an important day, like my wedding day. They delivered and I will return. I've had some really awesome customer service experiences at other businesses, where the staff was super nice, but then the product they delivered wasn't so nice. Good work - poor service. I have taken a number of dresses here for my daughters for extensive alterations and the actual sewing has been very good. However, depending on who is helping you the service can be not as good. I went in close to closing time (hard to get there much before 6 if you have a job) with several coats that needed the arms shortened. She said she guessed I could try on one since I was there right before close. I said I could leave and take my things elsewhere, and she said OK! I won't be back. read more

Every time we need an alteration, we go to Magic Needle. Not only is it conveniently located in Mason, but they are open 6 days a week. They wait on you quickly and have 2 dressing rooms available. I have always been very happy with their service. From hemming a cuffed pair of trousers, to altering the top of an expensive "mother of the bride" dress, they always do an amazing job. I had some difficult requests for alterations to a dress I had purchased with a cowl neck, and they did an AMAZING job working on it. Quick turnaround also - dropped off on Friday at noon, and I had it back the next Wed at 4pm. They guarantee their work, and they are very friendly with any requests you have. I can not say enough great things about my experience at Magic Needle!!! I came to them with a complicated alteration on a bridesmaid dress and they were able to work a miracle on it!! Not only did they do a great job- they were fast AND affordable! I took it in on a Sat and on Tue they called me to come try it on to see how it looked. Only 2 business days?!?!! Those crazy bridal stores request months of time needed for alterations!! When I came to try it on it wasn't quite right and they wanted it perfect so they pinned again and told me it would be ready in 2 days. They called the very next day to let me know they made the improvements and I can pick it up! I'm just so amazed at how fast, efficient, meticulous, and caring they are. And with multiple alterations they only charged me $50! This is unheard of. One of the other bridesmaids for this wedding was quoted $95 JUST to hem the bottom of hers at another alterations place! So long story short, don't hesitate to use Magic Needle-they're amazing!! And in regards to people saying they are rude?? They were nothing but kind and sweet .
